C12 Why Should I Trust You?
Fu Yuanyi had a presence that matched Bai Chongyuan's, but with a more approachable vibe. Unlike Bai, who always seemed cold and distant, lacking any warmth.
Lin Ci stood up and followed Fu Yuanyi's directions to an office. She took the main seat, with Fu Yuanyi and Shen Yejin sitting across from her. Everyone else had left the room, leaving just the three of them.
As Fu Yuanyi poured tea, he raised an eyebrow and remarked, "What brings Miss Lin from Lin's Group to my little establishment?"
Lin Ci wasn't surprised. Being Bai Chongyuan's wife, she knew he must have looked into her background. She replied leisurely, "Oh, Mr. Fu, your hotel is one of the top places in our city. How could you call it a 'little establishment'?"
Fu Yuanyi steadied himself, seemingly a bit taken aback. It was clear she had come to see him on purpose. Shen Yejin watched their exchange with keen interest.
Then Lin Ci turned to Shen Yejin and said, "Why are you so free, Mr. Shen? Not busy managing your jewelry store? Your younger brother sure knows how to cause trouble." Shen Yejin dropped his usual carefree demeanor and replied seriously, "How did you find out?"
Lin Ci didn't answer him. She wasn't the same as before, her presence now strong enough to take on both of them.
At this moment, both Fu Yuanyi and Shen Yejin were utterly astonished. Was this really just a college student, Lin Ci? How could she possess such an overwhelming presence that seemed to suffocate the room?
However, Fu Yuanyi and Shen Yejin were not ordinary people and weren't easily intimidated by Lin Ci's aura. Lin Ci fixed her gaze on Fu Yuanyi and calmly said, "Fu Yuanyi, I want to discuss a business deal with you."
As soon as she finished speaking, the room fell silent. Lin Ci knew that Fu Yuanyi didn't trust her at all. She needed to reveal some valuable leverage first. Lin Ci continued, "You've been in a power struggle with Bai Chongyuan for years, and you're frustrated because you haven't found any leverage against him. I can help you. You know, Bai Chongyuan couldn't have built his real estate empire without some dirty dealings, and there's no way he hasn't been involved in any serious legal issues." Lin Ci emphasized the last few words, making her point clear to the two men.
Shen Yejin, with a playful glint in his eyes, asked, "But you're Bai Chongyuan's wife. Why should we trust you?" Lin Ci, her gaze steady and expression unchanged, replied, "Because we share a common enemy, Bai Chongyuan. That makes us potential allies."
At this point, Fu Yuanyi spoke up, "Since you say we're allies, what leverage do you have to make us believe you?"
Lin Ci spoke calmly, "Five years ago, there was a somewhat famous real estate boss named Zhao Deze. He used to work under Bai Chongyuan, but because he knew Bai's business secrets, Bai had him silenced. I have evidence of the murder, Fu Yuanyi. Just think, a murderer—his reputation alone could land him in prison for years. Not to mention, this would be a devastating blow to his company.
But to bring down Bai Chongyuan, this isn't nearly enough. You know Bai; he loves to find scapegoats. This alone won't completely topple him. We need a fatal blow, one that ensures he and his Bai Group never recover!"
The intense hatred that flashed in Lin Ci's eyes for a moment startled Fu Yuanyi, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared, as if it had never been there.
