C13 Was This a Person?

What happened to her to harbor such immense hatred? With this level of animosity, Fu Yuanyi no longer had any doubts about Lin Ci.

With a slight smile, Fu Yuanyi asked, "You mentioned a deal, right? So, what are your terms?" Lin Ci composed herself and replied with a similar smile, "I need you to find Zhao Dezhe's daughter, Zhao Shiyin. Oh, wait, she's now disguised as a boy named Liu Hanzhou." At this, Shen Yejin leaned forward, startled, "How do you know she's still alive and disguised as a boy?" He looked at me warily, "What do you want with her?" Lin Ci raised an eyebrow and teased Shen Yejin, "No need to be so tense. Everything I'm planning is beneficial to you." Lin Ci stood up and said, "In three days, I need to see Liu Hanzhou here." With that, she left without waiting for a response.

The room was left with only Fu Yuanyi and Shen Yejin, both puzzled. They exchanged glances for a long time before Shen Yejin spoke up, "Is this the same Lin Ci you asked me to investigate before? Wasn't she supposed to be weak and harmless?"

Fu Yuanyi didn't respond, but his eyes showed a newfound curiosity. He said to Shen Yejin, "Find out what happened to her in the past few months." "Aren't you curious about why she's looking for Liu Hanzhou?"

Fu Yuanyi smiled and said, "We'll find out." Shen Yejin didn't ask any more questions and went off to handle the tasks Fu Yuanyi had assigned. On the surface, Shen Yejin seemed like just a friend or brother to Fu Yuanyi. However, behind the scenes, Shen Yejin was secretly managing a vast intelligence network for him, known as the Withered Wind Pavilion. This organization combined private detectives, psychological analysts, and hackers.

Fu Yuanyi also had a team of mercenaries. Officially, they acted as bodyguards, but their real purpose was to protect the intelligence network and secure the information. Fu Yuanyi was clever; he never kept all his intel in one place. Part of it was gathered by the Withered Wind Pavilion, while the rest was stored in a secret basement at his home, safeguarded by both documents and a highly secure computer system.

This was Fu Yuanyi's brilliance—always cautious and meticulous, leaving no room for error.

Back at school, Lin Ci was in an unusually good mood, paying extra attention in her afternoon classes. Before she knew it, the school day was over. As she reached the school gates, her driver was already waiting for her. Despite her calm demeanor, Lin Ci was deeply frustrated inside.

She needed to find a way to call off her engagement to Bai Chongyuan. Once she graduated, she was supposed to marry him, but she was determined to sabotage the engagement party. Lin Ci found him utterly repulsive and couldn't bear the thought of spending even one more day with him.

It looks like the plan needs to be accelerated; only three months remain.

Upon arriving home, Lin Ci gazed at the opulent mansion, feeling an overwhelming sense of coldness. This place once held her dearest memories, but its current owner had ruined her life, leaving her in constant pain day and night.

During those years in prison, she suspected Lin Ya had orchestrated her suffering, ensuring she was relentlessly tormented. From her first day behind bars, she never had a decent meal. Forget about meat; she only got leftovers after everyone else had eaten. Sometimes, even those scraps were taken away with a casual spit, leaving her with nothing. Worse still, they forced her to eat food tainted with spit and filth. Refusing meant a beating, and she had lost count of the scars on her body.
