C3 To be Able to See the Light Again
A tickle in her throat triggered a violent cough, and Lin Ci sat up, frowning.
"She's awake! She's awake!"
A voice filled with surprise and joy rang out as a middle-aged woman rushed out the door.
Lin Ci finally stopped coughing and opened her eyes.
The room was spacious and luxurious, familiar yet strangely different.
It was the master bedroom she shared with Bai Chongyuan!
Hadn't she been in a car accident? How was she back here? Did Bai Chongyuan and Lin Ya finally allow her to return?
As if responding to her thoughts, shadows appeared at the door.
Leading them was a tall, slender figure. Lin Ci froze, instinctively clutching the bedsheet, and slowly looked up.
The face that met her eyes was even more handsome and youthful than she remembered.
This face, which she had longed to see countless times while in prison, had never appeared. Eventually, she couldn't even dream of it anymore.
Now, that face, rarely seen with a smile, was cold and stern.
Was he unhappy she was here?
Lin Ci let out a scoff.
If it weren't for the child, did he think she'd ever set foot in this place again?
As her thoughts raced, the man sat down beside her, his warm hand touching her forehead. He said coldly, "What are you just standing there for?"
The middle-aged man with the medical kit was about to check on Lin Ci when she suddenly snapped back to reality. Her eyes filled with hatred, and before anyone could react, she slapped the man hard across his strikingly handsome face.
The room fell silent.
Everyone was stunned, too afraid to even glance at Bai Chongyuan's expression. Lin Ci had put all her strength into that slap, leaving a vivid handprint on Bai Chongyuan's clean, handsome face. Even without seeing it, Bai Chongyuan could feel the resentment behind Lin Ci's slap.
Bai Chongyuan frowned, grabbing her hand. "What’s gotten into you?"
"Yes, ma'am, how could you hit him without a word?" the middle-aged woman couldn't help but chime in.
Lin Ci, her eyes red with emotion, shouted, "So what if I hit him? I wish he were dead! Where's Yonglin? Where is he now? Give him back to me!"
Bai Yonglin was their son.
Bai Chongyuan's expression changed, and he gripped her hand so tightly it felt like he might crush her wrist. "What did you say? Say it again!"
"Get away from me!"
Unable to break free, Lin Ci kicked at him in desperation. "If you don't give Yonglin back to me, I'll fight you to the end!"
Bai Chongyuan couldn't understand what she was saying. His expression was cold as he restrained her hands with one of his own and pulled her into his arms with difficulty. He glanced at the other two people present. "Are you just going to stand there? Can't you see something's wrong with her?"
A middle-aged woman hurried over to help Bai Chongyuan, trying to calm Lin Ci. "Ma'am, what's going on? Why are you hitting and cursing at your husband, saying such hurtful things?"
Lin Ci found the voice somewhat familiar, and her attention shifted slightly from Bai Chongyuan. She looked up in her struggle and was stunned as if struck by lightning. "Aunt Wang?"
The woman nodded quickly. "Yes, ma'am. Are you feeling unwell? Please tell Dr. Chen. You've been unconscious for two days. We've been worried sick."
Lin Ci stopped struggling, her eyes vacant, murmuring to herself, "Aunt Wang, am I... am I really dead?"
Aunt Wang had been assigned to her by Bai Chongyuan when she first married into the Bai family. However, Aunt Wang had passed away from cancer before Lin Ci's son was born.
