C4 You Really Want to Die

"Is she really dead?"

"Well, after such a serious car accident, how could she possibly survive?"

Bai Chongyuan looked at her coldly. "Do you have a death wish?"

"Mrs. Bai is out of danger now, but she's very weak. She just needs to rest for a few days," Dr. Chen advised with a smile after examining her. "Since you can't swim, Mrs. Bai, be more careful next time you're near the ocean."

Mrs. Wang, looking pale, added, "Yes, if it weren't for those fishermen passing by, you might not have made it back."

Seeing that Lin Ci had calmed down, Bai Chongyuan loosened his grip on her limbs, and Mrs. Wang quickly let go as well.

Bai Chongyuan spoke coldly, "Leave."

Mrs. Wang nodded quickly. "I'll see Dr. Chen out."

The beach, the drowning, the fishermen, Mrs. Wang—

Lin Ci suddenly looked up.

She remembered. Ten years ago, she and her cousin, Qin Shuangning, had an accident at the beach and she was unconscious for days.

If she and Mrs. Wang had to die to meet again, then what about Dr. Chen? She had seen him after she got out of prison, alive and well!

A thought flashed through her mind. She quickly got out of bed and saw the old-fashioned cell phone on the nightstand. Her heart skipped a beat.

It was a gift from Bai Chongyuan shortly after they got married, one she hadn't used in years.

She forcefully pushed away from Bai Chongyuan, who was holding her, and grabbed her phone, quickly checking the time. October, 200X. Exactly ten years ago, during the winter when she had fallen into the sea. So, she had returned to ten years ago?

Her every move seemed strange in Bai Chongyuan's eyes. Noticing her face was still as pale as paper, he let out a small huff, his tone softer and more teasing than before, "Have you calmed down? Or do you think acting crazy means I won't punish you?"

Lin Ci stared blankly at her phone, not hearing a word he said. Bai Chongyuan's brow furrowed again, his thin lips parting slightly as if to scold her.

She was wearing a knee-length silk nightgown he had custom-made for her. Lin Ci was the type who never gained weight no matter what she ate, and after being unconscious for two days, she looked even more fragile. Her disheveled black hair and dazed expression made her resemble a flower battered by wind and rain, its colors faded.

In the end, Bai Chongyuan couldn't bring himself to reprimand her. His expression softened with a hint of helplessness as he pulled her into his arms, speaking gently, "Alright, I won't say anything. But I hope this doesn't happen again. Do you realize that if no one had come by, you could have died? Stay away from those places from now on—"

"Get out!" Lin Ci suddenly snapped, her voice cold as she shoved him away with force.

Bai Chongyuan stood tall, caught off guard as she pushed him, causing him to stumble slightly. His expression darkened as he silently watched her, eyes intense.

Lin Ci glared at him, shouting, "I want you to leave!"

Bai Chongyuan pressed his thin lips together. "Lin Ci, do you really think just because you're hurt, I won't lay a finger on you?"

"Why would you?" Lin Ci retorted sarcastically. "You'd love nothing more than for me to disappear, so why would you hesitate?"

Bai Chongyuan's face hardened as he grabbed her hand forcefully. "What do you mean by that?!"

Lin Ci's mind was a mess; she just wanted some peace. She rubbed her temples, shook off his hand, and turned to walk toward the door. Bai Chongyuan took a long stride, blocking her path. "Where are you going?"

She sidestepped him. "If you won't leave, I will."

"What's going on with you?" he asked, pulling her back, his tone no longer confrontational. He touched her forehead gently. "Are you feeling unwell?"

Why did she seem like a different person after waking up from her fainting spell?
