C5 Divorce Him

Lin Ci took a deep breath, trying to push him away, but suddenly everything went black. Before she could say a word, she fainted in Bai Chongyuan's arms.

Bai Chongyuan's expression changed instantly. Mrs. Wang, who was bringing porridge for Lin Ci, was so startled she almost dropped the bowl. She hurriedly said, "I'll call Dr. Chen right away."

---

Lin Ci woke up again at dusk.

The soft, gentle sunlight streamed through the window, mingling with the fresh scent of flowers in the air. Everything around her was calm and serene.

The familiar scene and feeling pulled her out of her blank state of mind. She immediately got out of bed, barefoot, and rushed to the adjacent walk-in closet, quickly starting to pack her things.

"Ma'am? Ma'am, you're awake?"

Before she could finish packing, Mrs. Wang came up, concerned to see her walking around barefoot. "Ma'am, would you like to put on some shoes first? If you need anything packed, just let me know."

Although the floor was covered with a soft, expensive carpet, the autumn breeze was picking up, and Lin Ci was still quite frail. If Mr. Bai found out, those of them serving would surely be in trouble.

Lin Ci paused as she stuffed her suitcase full. "Where's Bai Chongyuan?"

"You mean Mr. Bai? He's busy in the study upstairs," Mrs. Wang replied, starting to ramble. "When he heard about your accident, he rushed back from the States overnight, leaving work unfinished. He hasn't been able to eat or sleep well these past few days, and he's lost quite a bit of weight."

"Really?" Lin Ci's tone was icy, dismissive as she grabbed her suitcase and headed for the door. Mrs. Wang finally caught on and nervously asked, "Ma'am, where are you going?"

"I'm going to—" She stopped herself mid-sentence.

Leave? Divorce Bai Chongyuan? Even if he agreed, she knew she wouldn't truly be free. As long as Lin Ya was around and she lacked the power to stand against her, they could set her up once, and they could do it again and again in different ways. She and Lin Ya had been at odds since childhood; Lin Ya would never let her go!

And besides... she wasn't pregnant yet.

She wondered if all mothers were the same, willing to do anything for their children. Even if that child didn't like her and did things that broke her heart. Her memories of him were stuck in the past life, before prison. His soft, tender little face was undeniably beautiful and cute, yet he always wore a scowl, turning away, reluctantly calling her "Mom."

At those times, she loved to scoop him up, shower him with kisses and teasing, watching as his little face flushed red before he ran off. It brought her so much joy.

Sigh, even though she loved to tease him and play around, and wasn't talented at making his favorite meals and desserts, she was still his mom. How could he hurt her feelings like that?

"Ma'am? Are you... are you okay?"

Lin Ci silently laughed and cried at the same time, which really worried Mrs. Wang. Thinking about the child, Lin Ci felt both happy and a bit sad. She smiled softly, wiped her tears, and handed her suitcase to Mrs. Wang. "I'm fine. Could you please help me unpack the things in the suitcase?"

She still couldn't let go of the child. If he truly didn't like her, she would give birth to him and let him live the life he wanted.

As for herself...

Her eyes sharpened with determination. This time, she wouldn't just sit back and do nothing!

---

In the study.

"Awake?" Bai Chongyuan looked up from his computer screen.

Mrs. Wang replied, "Yes, she's downstairs now."

"Okay."

Mrs. Wang hesitated, glancing up as if she wanted to say more. Bai Chongyuan returned his attention to the screen. "Is there something else?"

"I think there's something a bit off with her."
