Bai Chongyuan paused, his gaze deep and thoughtful as he looked at her.

Mrs. Wang felt a chill run down her spine. Was the lady openly flirting with the gentleman?

"Sir, Ma'am, Miss Qin has arrived," the butler suddenly announced from the doorway.

Bai Chongyuan withdrew his gaze. "Let her in."

Lin Ci's smile faded slightly.

Qin Shuangning, her uncle's daughter, was both her cousin and her most trusted friend in her past life. Yet, during her years in prison, this trusted friend never visited. "Ci, you're finally awake!" Qin Shuangning exclaimed, her eyes red as she hugged Lin Ci tightly. "You have no idea how scared I was when I saw you fall into the sea. Luckily, I noticed some fishermen nearby who managed to save you in time. Please be more careful from now on; don't scare me like that again."

Every word expressed her concern and informed everyone present that she was the one who saved Lin Ci.

In her past life, Lin Ci never doubted Qin Shuangning. Since she was rescued, she didn't think much of it and simply treated Qin Shuangning even better in the days that followed.
