4: 30 P.M., in front of the Rainbow kindergarten.

"Big brother, it's not convenient to get a car outside. You should park here, I'll go pick up the child." When there was still one more intersection before the Rainbow kindergarten, Xia Mu made Jiang Si Ran stop the car.

"Together." Jiang Si Ran followed him out of the car and caught up with Xia Mu.

The parents waiting to pick up their children from school were mostly grandparents, so it was rare to see the young parents. As a result, when Jiang Si Ran appeared in the crowd along with Xia Mu, it attracted a lot of attention.

"Little Xia, you came a bit late today." The speaker was an elderly man, her grandson and Xia Mu's children in the same class.

Xia Mu greeted the person who asked the question. Normally, she would chat with people she wanted to be familiar with. However, the situation was different today. Standing beside her, Jiang Si Ran was like a huge glowing object, attracting the gazes of many grandfathers and grandmothers.

"Little Xia, this is?" Sure enough, nothing could stop the hearts of humans from gossiping.

Just as Xia Mu was vexed over how to reply, the kindergarten's door opened. The person who asked the question didn't wait for Xia Mu's answer and directly headed towards the entrance of the kindergarten.

"Mom!"

"Mom!"

The two children appeared in front of Xia Mu, holding hands.

Xia Mu bent his body and separately hugged Nannan and the baby before saying, "This is uncle."

"Uncle."

"Uncle."

The two children sensibly called for someone.

"Good boy." Jiang Si Ran said with a smile.

Jiang Si Ran held onto the man's hand while Nannan held onto the baby's hand. The baby's small hands tightly held onto Xia Mu's hand as the four of them walked towards the car.

Nannan lifted her head to look at Jiang Si Ran who was holding her hand. Coincidentally, Jiang Si Ran was looking at Nannan and their gazes met. Nannan quietly let go of the baby's hand and pulled Jiang Si's hand. She slowed her steps and softly called out: "Uncle?"

"Hmm?" At the same time Jiang Si Ran replied, he bent his waist and picked up Nannan. This little girl looked exactly the same as Xia Mu when she was young. Jiang Si Ran loved her when he saw her.

"Uncle." Nannan did not recognize him as she lifted her hand and wrapped it around Jiang Si Ran's neck as she asked in a small voice: "Why haven't I seen you before?"

"Uncle was overseas before, and he just came back in a few days." Jiang Si Ran replied with a smile, as if he was facing an adult with a serious expression.

"Then …" Nannan paused as her little face turned to the side, as if she was considering if she should ask this question.

"Then what?"

"Do you know where my father is?" When he asked this question, the little girl's eyes were sparkling. She was looking forward to getting news about her father from her uncle.

The little girl's words kept echoing in his ears,

Uncle, do you know where my father is?

Facing the little girl's expectant eyes, Jiang Si Ran's smile didn't fade yet. In his heart, he was filled with hatred towards that irresponsible man. If that damned man ever showed up, he would definitely teach him a good lesson!

"Darling, do you miss dad?"

"Not really. I just think about it occasionally." The little girl moved around in Jiang Si Ran's arms and whispered into his ear, "Uncle, don't tell mom what I just said." Nannan did not want her mother to be unhappy.

At this moment, Xia Mu, who was leading the way with the baby, noticed that the two of them had left the group. He turned around and shouted, "What are you guys doing?"

"Mom, I'm talking to uncle!" Nannan said to Xia Mu.

Jiang Si Ran hugged Nannan and quickly walked over.

"Uncle, is this your car?"

"Uncle, where are we going?"

"Uncle …"

"Xia Nannan!" Until Xia Mu's voice rang out, Nannan fiercely covered her mouth, her gaze signalling to Xia Mu that she would not speak again. The baby looked at his big sister and giggled.

Nannan covered her mouth with one hand as she knocked on her brother's head with the other. Her big eyes were full of warning as the baby covered the forehead where her sister knocked on it. She curled her lips but did not dare resist.

"Child, why are you so strict?" Jiang Si Ran disagreed.

"Big brother, you don't know. You'll understand after a long time." Xia Mu thought that he was not a person who came to know her well, but why did his daughter love to talk so much?

As they passed the market, Xia Mu told Jiang Si Ran to stop the car and went out to buy vegetables. Jiang Si Ran was in the car with the two children.

"Uncle, is this your car?" Once Xia Mu left, Nannan continued to ask.

As his voice fell, he heard the baby's voice, "Xia Nannan, don't be so rude!" The tone, the tone of a summer foam.

"What did you say, baby?" Nannan turned her head and stared at her brother.

"No, I didn't say anything." The baby whispered back, then added, "Mommy said it all."

"You …!" Nannan waved her hand as forget it, seeing that there was a guest today she would not bother with Nannan anymore. In her heart, Nannan thought to herself that she might be able to learn some things about father from her uncle so she did not pay attention to her brother's words.

Hearing his brother and sister's conversation, Jiang Si Ran was inexplicably happy. He looked at the child in front of him with a smile in his eyes.

Just as he was happily chatting with the two children, his phone rang.

"Are you coming back for dinner tonight?" A man's deep voice came out of the phone.

Jiang Si Ran smiled and rubbed the top of Nannan's head as he said with an unprecedented joy in his voice, "I'm not going back."

Through the microphone, Mu Dong heard a child's voice saying, "Why hasn't mother come out yet?" That voice seemed a little familiar.

After hanging up, Mu Dong told his mother, Jiang Lanying, that Jiang Si Ran would not be back for dinner. Seeing that it was getting late, he got up and went upstairs.

Mu Dongfang did not have much thoughts about the date. Wei Meng was his mother, Jiang Lanying's, fiancée candidate. Since he had already lost his favorite, it did not matter who the candidate was. His heart had long since been shattered by the accident many years ago.

Xia Mu entered the market and bought the ingredients needed for dinner. On the way, Jiang Si Ran suggested that they go out to eat, but Xia Mu insisted on cooking at home. Besides welcoming Jiang Si Ran, she didn't want to owe him too much.

She was already used to living alone. Suddenly, someone who was so good to her appeared. She was worried that she would lose the courage to continue living with her child.

In fact, Xia Mu was only twenty years old. Of course, he yearned for a passionate love and a stable life. However, when Jiang Si Ran appeared, she shrank back.

She had no love, no marriage, but she had two precious treasures. Those two heart-wrenching treasures were gifts from heaven to Xia Mu, and this kind of life was the best at the moment, so it was better not to spoil it.

This holiday was a very comfortable one for Mu Dong. It was a rare vacation and he spent most of his time with his family.

If there was anything to be disappointed about, it would be the question his mother, Jiang Lanying, had been talking about about all along.

When Mu told his mother, Jiang Lanying, that she could get along with Wei Meng, Jiang showed an unprecedented joy. She had even started to choose a date to prepare for the wedding.

Regarding this, Mu Dongfang didn't express much of his thoughts. He didn't give much thought to the question of who he would live with in the future.

From Mu Dong's perspective, it didn't matter to him who a woman would be in his future. He had even planned to live his life by himself. After all, his life was short, so why not he be more free and at ease?

As for his ex-wife, Su Xin, they knew each other on a blind date. To be more accurate, Cheng Su Xin had taken a fancy to Mu Dong. At that time, he was busy with his work and did not have much need for relationships.

In his previous marriage, Cheng Susu had dominated. The first date, the first time holding hands, the first time kissing and finally getting married, it was Cheng Su Xin who took the initiative and fought for her.

The phrase 'love has been born for a long time' was truly not wrong. Although love was only a product of the exuberant secretion of dopamine, humans were still creatures of emotion. As time passed, Mu Dongfang's feelings towards Cheng Suxin gradually increased.

Speaking of which, the time they had spent together was very short. From the time they had been in love to the time they had gotten married, it had only been a little more than a month.

However, there are so many hardships in life, you never know which will arrive first!

Cheng Su left in such a hurry that she did not even say a single word. It was the first time that a strong man like Mu Dong had cried like that. He had given himself a day of wild tears.

The day after he was done with his affairs, Mu Dong immediately returned to the army. From then on, his entire focus was on his work and did not mention anything about relationships anymore.

In the blink of an eye, a few years had passed. In Mu Dong's life, there was only that green patch.

When he woke up early that morning, Mu Dong had already finished his routine five-kilometer-long run and returned home. The breakfast was already prepared in the restaurant.

His father was busy with his mother, Jiang Lanying, and his father, Mu Ru Guang, spent less and less time eating at home. His brother, Mu Zexi, had always woken up late, and his younger sister, Mu Xiangxi, had left early in the morning, saying that she wanted to interview him and didn't have time to eat at home.

After Mu Dongfang washed his hands, a bowl of rice porridge was placed on the table.

"Running again?" Jiang Lanying asked.

Mu Dongdong picked up a pancake, took a bite, and nodded. A piece of pancake was finished off in just a few bites.

"Eat slowly, it's not good for the stomach to eat one piece." Jiang Lanying slowly said.

"I'm used to it." Mu Dongfang drank a mouthful of congee and replied.

Jiang Lanying looked at her son. This son hadn't bothered her since she was young, and now that she had gotten along well with Wei Meng, it seemed like the Mu family would be able to host a happy event soon.

"Dong, when are you going to bring Wei Meng over for dinner?"

Mu Dong stopped eating and remained silent.

Jiang Lanying continued, "I think that child is pretty good. You're no longer young, and my body isn't well either. I'm still waiting to carry my grandson." She was well aware of her son's personality. Sometimes, he wouldn't act unless he gave her some pressure.

After finishing the bowl of congee, Mu Dong put down his chopsticks and replied, "She's busy with her work. Let's discuss this after we've finished eating."
