C5 Chapter 5

Laura got to the office and Clara met her at the company's entrance. More than anything, Laura wondered about what is so special about the company's CEO that makes him capable enough to get all those contracts that is supposed to belong to her company and even boycotts them at the last bidding. She was so furious when she found out about this last one and was angry that unknown company just come out of nowhere and focus on competing with her.

On getting to her office, Clara place a file in front of her containing the information about the so called enemy of hers.

"Chris Hugh, twenty two years old.." Laura was saying but stopped after seeing his age. She cant believe that a guy who is twenty two is the one messing with her, obviously he must have inherit the company from his parent or something and is just sitting in the position of the CEO doing nothing

"do you have a picture of him?" she asked raising her head from the file in her hand

"yes here it is" Clara answered and place the picture in front of her. Laura took it and stare at the picture. Although she doesn't really pay him attention and always take him for granted but she could still recognize him right away. Her ex-fiance if its okay to call that because they didn't really call off the engagement formally but after he left she decide that the relationship was over and her relationship with Avan official. The both of them has been engaged for so long but he has never talked about them proceeding to the next level of their relationship and coupled with the way he always ignore her texts she was already fed up with the relationship but because of her pride she refuse to break up with him and even decide to take the next step herself

"but why would he be against her company? Could it be mere coincidence or he is really doing it because she broke their engagement?" she thought and begin to think about how to approach the situation. She had thought that she will meet with the owner and try to make them work together and if he doesn't agree she plan to buy the company from him since its still a small company and… Clara jolt her out of her thoughts

"will you really be able to buy the company? Why don't you try to speak with the CEO of MINES"

"lets meet with him first and try to see if we can actually get a solution" Laura said.

She just wish that some kind of help or wish will just help her out of the situation. Although she manage to stop her father's mistress from getting the company for her son years back but now it seems there is nothing she can do. She really isn't interested in business or directing a company but she has no choice but to protect the company against imposers. Over the years, Clara has been helping her along with Avan but she is just not good enough so the company keep going down and now she needs to do something fast before the company close down

"there is a party by the CEO of MINES company and it seems the CEO of TT companies is also invited. Its next tomorrow and we can set up a meeting from there" Clara said and place the I.V in front of her

"prepare a dress that is simple but elegant and also contact our informant to see if there is anything we can use against him or something that might help" she said then dismiss her. Although Laura knows this might not even work but she doesn't even know what to do then she got a message from Avan telling them to meet and she ignored it, she is not going to reply him until he comes to her and apologized properly. She thought.

Chris entered the party and immediately looked for the CEO of MINES company and the two exchange pleasantries warmly

"I thought you wont come today, I specially asked your girlfriend to make sure she brings you here" Josh said as he handed over a glass of wine to him.

"I don't know why you are so bent about me coming to this party and also I told you she is not my girlfriend" Chris replied and drop the glass in his hand

"don't tell me you are still playing with this girl's heart. Everyone is totally shipping you two together and she is a perfect candidate to be your wife"

"why don't you marry her then, am sure your parent will be elated to hear about it" Chris replied and sat down on the seat beside them while Josh quietly sip at his drink

Laura arrived at the venue for the party much earlier and has since been looking out for the CEO of TT companies. She already prepared what to say and also try to see if they could work together at least. She spending an hour without any sight of him, she was already getting feed up and decide to leave but then as she was about to exit the hall, she saw him enter the hall in a navy blue suit and his hair was perfect permed with black shoes. Laura stare at him in awe and was shocked at his transformation, back in high school he always dress causally and only have one hairstyle that makes him look like a baby but seeing him after many years and how he looked totally different and freshen up Laura felt weird within her wondering how he was able to bring himself up and even has a company in his name, she could never have thought about it. She quickly put the thought behind her and begin to approach him but stopped when she noticed that he was standing beside the CEO of MINES companies and he even offered him a glass of wine that means they must be well acquainted with each other. She thought and walk to a corner near them so she can hear whatever they are discussing together.
