C6 Chapter 6

Laura couldn't believe her ears, it actually sound like they are friends but she felt relieved to hear that there is someone he might actually be dating so she doesn't have to worry about him still hang up on her. After waiting for a few more minute, Josh left his side to attend to some more guest and Laura saw that as an opportunity to approach him and an idea popped into her head.

"hey Chris" she said as sweetly as she can.

Chris raise his head to see who it was thinking its one of those girls who might be trying to hook up with some rich girls but to his surprise its turns out to be the last person he could ever except, Laura.

Laura make sure the smile didn't leave her face as she nod her head gently waiting for his response but seeing the way he stared at her like a stranger she felt awkward and quickly apologize putting the smile away from her face

"you probably don't remember me right? Am Laura your…" she stopped before she could say fiancee and said "classmate" instead. She always tease him with the word fiancee ever since the day he came to her after the official engagement between them.

"you are…" she heard him say after another few seconds

"am Laura, you must have forgotten but we were friends in high school" she answered and smiled at him once again disappointed that he doesn't remember her at all. Of course he knows who she is but did she just say they were friends? He thought and chuckled before he could stop himself. Laura also continue to smile nervously

"can I sit?" she asked ignoring his reactions. Chris continue to look at her amused but still wave his hand to indicate she can

"like I said am Laura, the president of Lovelies group of companies and I will like to have a word with you as the CEO of TT companies" she said after sitting

"how did you find out about that?" he asked instead

"things like that are very easy in this industry" she answered

"how can I help you?"

"your company just got a huge deal and I know you need the partnership of a much bigger company to execute it" she answered. So she wants to work together with him? He thought and stopped one of the waiters then pick a drink and gulp it down his throat

"so you are offering to work together? But why would a big company like yours be interested in working with us?"

"hmm.. the thing is we actually lost the contract to you and I really have a great interest in this project and although we didn't get it, I don't mind working together" she is really bad at doing business

"what will I get in return?" he asked after keeping quiet for a minute

"anything you want" Laura quickly said without thinking

"anything? Anything means nothing. How about we do it like this, I will give the deal back to your company and you will grant me whatever I want" he said excepting her to say no or think about it twice but Laura literally scream yes into his ears grinning with smile. Chris find himself smiling broadly at her attitude

"you are not joking with me are you?" Laura asked when she saw him smiling

"no am not, I want you to come personally to my company tomorrow and we can talk more about it" he answered and Laura felt relieved. She couldn't believe things will go easily like this for her like this, it feels like she is actually dreaming. She stood up and without thinking grab his hand and shake it furiously

"thanks a lot, see you tomorrow" she said and hurried away before he could changed his mind and also she already recorded every of their conversation

Chris find himself smiling more as she leaves feeling amazed by her behaviour. Why was she so happy over the deal and also she didn't even feel awkward with him at all and acted like nothing happened between them. Josh walked back to where he left Chris and noticed he was talking to a very pretty girl and he even smiled. That is a very rare situation, except Mira, he is always going on and on about how he dislikes rich spoilt ladies and wouldn't have anything to do with them but right here he is talking a one of those so called ladies having a conversation with her and even smiling. After he saw that she already left, he walk up closer to him and tap him on the shoulder and the smile immediately left Chris face when he saw who it was

"you don't have to pretend, I already saw you both" Josh said and sat beside him

"what did you mean?" he asked like he doesn't understand

"you seems to like her don't you?" Josh answered instead

"she is the CEO of Lovelies group of companies" he said and Josh stare at him in disbelieve

"why would she even talk to you? Are you pulling my legs?"

"why would I do that? She wants to work together with me on the deal I got recently but I said I will give it to her"

"why would she? Do you even know what you are saying? Mira is going to kill you"

"what can I do now? I already promised her" he said nonchalantly

"i get that you are not in your right mind but why would the CEO of Lovelies approach you… I did hear that the company wasn't doing very great but I didn't know its this bad"

"what about the company?" he asked curiously

"don't you know about it? Everyone says that the current president is not fit to be in that position and there were even post online comparing her to her step brother but still I thought the company was still doing very well" Chris nod his head silently as he listen to him understanding the reason behind the way she was so happy so that means the deal means a great lot to her then

"why are you really interested in her? What about Mira?"

"i told you am not in a relationship with her, am leaving" he replied then drop the glass in his hand and left the party. As he step out, his driver was waiting for him downstairs and when he saw him coming he quickly came down and opened the door for him then close it, entered the car and quickly drove off.

Chris took out his phone to look up Laura's company and was surprised by the information he saw online. He knew she was naive but didn't except that she wouldn't be able to handle the company well and even have her position threatened.

He place his phone back in his pocket and rest his head trying to catch some sleep before going back to the office to finish up some work then his mind went back to his conversation with her and has he remembers the way she called him her friend.
