C7 Chapter 7

Laura got back to the office all happy and immediately give Clara a hug, Clara knew instantly that she has been able to turn the situation around in their favor

"so how did it go?" she asked curiously and Laura motion for them to go inside her office to talk

"remember I told you we were school mate"

"i also remember you said you didn't really have a nice story together" Clara said recalling her words

"i don't know how it happened but he easily gave up the deal for me" she said. Clara turn away from her in disbelieve"why will he give up the deal? Are you sure its not your imagination?"

"am serious, he was so cool about it. I guess he doesn't hate me or feel angry about what happened"

"but are you sure we can trust his word? This deal is something that will bring his company to the next level and he just give it up for someone he isn't even close to"

"why are you so negative about this? Shouldn't you be happy? At least now we can stop worrying for a while and try to get things in a more stable condition"

"okay fine, so when are we meeting with him officially?"

"tomorrow, prepare to work overnight. I need to make a good impression and also maintain the reputation of the company" she said and left to change her clothes. Clara smiled as she left and immediately pick her phone putting a call across to Avan.

"i think she did it" she said and end the call. Clara sighed troubled. She started working with Laura immediately after graduation, she was hired by Avan to report every of her moves and action in the company.

She met with Avan back in the university and the two start to date each other although she knows about his engagement to Laura but she doesn't mind and promised to help with him plan then they can both be together without any worries.

When Avan asked her to work with Laura at first she refused but then agreed so she can keep her enemy close. After all the effort they tried to make her give up the company to Avan, she refused and has continued to hold on but this deal was already perfect and she has made sure that a fake proposal was submitted but this new guy is going to spoil there plan now. She thought angrily.

Laura came back and the two of them start discussing and making plans

Laura entered Chris's company putting a nice floral skirt with a white jacket and white heels to match. She walk in together with Clara and walk to the receptionist who direct them straight to Chris office where they met with his secretary.

"we are here to see the CEO we have an appointment" Clara said and she immediately stood to inform Chris then came out almost immediately

"he will like to see you alone" she said pointing to Laura. Laura asked Clara to wait and then walk inside. She opened the door and saw Chris sitting at his table and she find herself studying him. Back in school, he always look like a complete dumb-head and will always follow her like a bodyguard but seeing him now, he looks completely different and also…

"have a seat" Chris word break into her thoughts and she felt caught doing something bad

"i will have my secretary get us something to drink. What will you like?" he said again and Laura finally responded

"anything is okay by me" she replied and sat down. Chris called his secretary giving her some instructions then sat down to attend to Laura after their drinks has been served

"about yesterday, I hope you haven't changed your mind and we will definitely help your company with everything it might need" she said quickly to avoid any delay

"am sure you remember there is a condition attached yesterday" he replied and Laura nod her head at him

"this is the biggest project our company will be getting and am sure you know giving your company the right is not any easy thing so I will like to ask for something very important in return"

"as long as you don't ask for the company and is within my reach then I will surely give it"

"lets married" he suddenly said and Laura drop the cup in her hand loudly on the floor

"what did you just say?" she ask to be sure she isn't hearing something else

"lets get married" he repeated

"have you gone crazy? Married? Who? You and I? you must be kidding me" she said adjusting her sitting position

"are you joking with me" she said when she didn't get any reaction from him

"do I look like I am?" he asked back

"am engaged and soon to be married"

"you can break off your engagement, its not like you are married yet" he replied nonchalantly

"what? Why would I cancel my engagement because of you?""just the way you canceled one years back" he retorted

"what on earth…" she was saying then stopped realizing what he meant

"that was an invalid engagement and its years back"

"is not like this one is also valid, you didn't get any of your parent consent did you?" he replied sarcastically

"that is none of your business. You promised yesterday was this the reason why? To reminisce on something in the past?" she asked getting annoyed

"what if am married?" she suddenly asked

"that is a different story" he answered then continued

"i promised yesterday and you also promised, once you are ready to do as I say then we can sign the contract" he said and wave her away. Laura sat down for a few seconds before she stood up and left the office. Clara met with her but seeing her bad mood she knows the deal must have fallen through and just walk behind her as they both left the company.

Josh was about to enter Chris office to give him some report when he saw the same girl he saw with him yesterday, He has refused to believe that Chris will actually give up the contract just like that but seeing her here he was very surprised and hurried into his office

"am sure my eyes are not deceiving me, that's the CEO of LOVELIES group of company isn't it?" he asked as he sat in front of him and Chris nodded his head to indicate yes

"Oh my God! You cant believe how much I've always want to meet with her but cant and you are able to do that easily, she even came to meet you herself, twice!"

"can you stop making a big deal out of it and just focus on what bought you here" Chris said not interested in his gossip

"what did you discuss with her to make her angry? She doesn't look pleased" he asked not giving up

"i asked her to marry me"

"what!!!" he yelled but Chris just smiled

"are you crazy? Everyone knows she is engaged"

"i also know that" he replied

"then why did you… don't tell me you still like her?" he said and Chris threw a book at him

"if you don't then why… do you still want her to apologize to you? What will her sorry change and also be considerate of your fiancee. I heard she made an announcement online about your relationship"

"i saw it too"

"then why are you not denying it? Are you finally going to stop fighting it and get together with her?"

"are you that free as a CEO, don't you have stuff to do? Am busy so see my secretary on anything" he said and completely ignore his remaining words.
