C8 Chapter 8

Laura stood in front of everyone as she announced the partnership with TK company and everyone was dumbfounded looking at her in disbelieve

"what is going on? How did you convince them to give the deal to us?" one of the directors voiced out impatiently

"why do you all look sad about the news? Its a good news isn't it?" Laura answered

"of course we are very happy, just that we still don't agree that you should remain in the position of the president. You should give up and let a man handle it"

"you said that was the only condition? Why are you saying otherwise?"

"this doesn't mean she wont make another mistake after this. Lets have a vote and let everyone decide"

"there wont be any need for that, I called everyone because of two things. First, this and the second thing is am getting married" Laura said loud and clear. Everyone was shocked including Clara who looked shocked and start to murmur among themselves

"what do you mean getting married?" Nicolas asked more shocked. Laura ignore him and continue

"i hope you all attend" she said and left with Clara leaving them in utter shock, Nicolas hurried after her also and tried to stop her

"Laura wait lets talk" he shouted but she wont have any of it, she got to her office and lock the door

"you are getting married" Clara asked again

"yes why?"

"what about Avan? Is he aware?"

"yes,we met yesterday and made up so.. he said to get married" Clara nod her head slowly

"its just to register our marriage, we have the wedding some other day. You can go back to work now" she said and Clara quietly leave

After finishing from work very late yesterday, she got a call from Avan and he said he was at her house waiting for her, She hurried home and saw him really waiting and she let go of her anger then invite him in

"you changed your pass code?" he said as he sat down and Laura went to get him some water

"why didn't you call before coming? When did you get here?" she asked coldly and sat beside him

"am sorry about last time" he said instead. Laura was quiet and drank some of the water. Laura thought to discuss the issue with Chris with him and hear his answer but she still felt angry that he wasn't there when she needed him the most

"i said am sorry and also I heard about the issue at the company"

"what exactly are you sorry for?" she asked facing him directly

"everything, not paying enough attention and getting angry at you. Its just that have been busy with a lot of things"

"that you couldn't call? It feels like we are just seeing each other with words and not even in a real relationship"

"i just told you I was busy and also I warned you not to let your step brother into the company but you insist and now this is happening"

"don't worry about him, I will look for a way to get rid of him somehow" she said and Avan draw closer to her then held her hands

"have missed you so much" he said and plant a soft kiss on her finger then tried kissing her but she turned her face and he move away from her

"what's wrong? Are you still angry with me?"

"i told you I wouldn't do this till we get married" she answered

"i just wanted to kiss you"

"that's what you said the last time and went overboard, I don't want another argument"

"but I stopped and besides, we've together for so long don't you trust me"

"not that, I just don't want to get pregnant before getting married"

"how will you get pregnant once" he said raising his voice

"once becomes twice and it will continue on and on" she said. The two stare at each other for sometimes before Avan break the silent

"lets get married" he said

"what!" Laura exclaimed. She has always talked about them getting married and he will brush it off but now he is actually saying it first

"am not suggesting it and its not a sudden decision but I really want to get married with you and start a family also no one will threaten your position if we are married"

"so you want us to get married now?" she said more like a question

"yes, we can register our marriage and then have a big celebration later by then we will be able to plan it very well and give you the wedding you've always dream of" Laura has always thought that when he will someday propose to her in the romantic way ever but it is different. She nod her head in agreement and hugged him while he also hugged her back

After that she met with Chris early in the morning to inform him of her marriage, she except him to really cancel the proposal but he just nodded and smiled then he signed the papers and left

"am sorry for breaking our engagement so rudely like that I hope we are good" she said and shake hands together before she left his office.

Laura start to get phone calls from her friends the next day and some family members asking if she is really getting married while some congratulate her. Now everything is going on perfectly and she will finally prove to her mother that choosing Avan back then wasn't a mistake. She will make sure she is happy with him. She start to attend to the files on her table.

Avan was inside his car about to open the door and enter the house when he saw the news about their marriage and sigh in relieve.

Although he never wants to get married to her but he really has no option left and his father has bee on his neck calling him names and how he is so incompetent to handle a woman. Although this was not in his plan but he just have to or he wouldn't ever be able to get the company from her, he has been on it for a long time now and she has proved stubborn that he wanted to give up but his father wouldn't have that with him.

He head inside and was surprised to see Clara in his house waiting for him, He was surprised and quickly drag her in before anyone sees them together closing the door after them

"have you gone mad? What are you doing here?" he yelled at her

"is that what you are supposed to say to me? Is that what you should say to your girlfriend after she find out that her boyfriend is getting married a week's time" she yelled back

"it just happened like that" he said lowly and walk to the living room with Clara following him angrily

"is that your explanation? You told me you will soon break things off with her but the next thing am hearing is you getting married to her"

"i just said its happened like that. I really didn't plan for it to happen but somehow she was able to get the deal and turn things around. I thought she will finally come to me as the last resort and then I can fool her into handling the company to me but that stupid company spoilt everything" he said annoyed

" so you decide to get married to her and you think she will actually hand the company to you then, what you have failed to do all these years"

"yes am sure, also she is still wary of her step brother so she wouldn't suspect a thing. Her brother spoilt our plans years back and now this stupid company appeared and ruined it more" Clara sat down dejected and Avan move closer to her and wrapped her in his arms

"don't worry, I will not fail this time and after everything I will get married to you and then my parent wouldn't have any reason not to accept you" he said to comfort her

"i don't know if I should believe you any longer, why don't you just get rid of her or something and I cant believe how gullible she is not to suspect a thing for the past years"

"that's because am a good actor, am so tired of fooling her, it has even become easy lately just an apology is enough to make her smile" he said and smiled then he use his hand to bring her face closer and started kissing her slowly soon their clothes was on the floor
