C1

She made sure the boy board the cab before turning back inside. Soon, he is going to be sent back home or so she prayed not. How she is going to pay up the school fees seems to make her more perplex. She didn't want her kid thrown out of the school. But what choice did she have?

She made for the pack of her cigarettes, took one and lit it. She sniffed. She had been taking her CV up and down the street for the past six months and nothing seems to be forthcoming.

Today might be different. She had been called by the Evergreen Company the biggest company in the country. Although, she had much doubt in mind about the company. She is not sure if they can possibly accept someone like her. They possess the best in all workers and she might never reach up their standard. Vivian had persuaded her to write it anyways.

That bitch!

She put off the cigarette and headed for the wardrobe. She selected a more official looking dress. It's her first day. First interview. She didn't want her dress to put her off. She slide in her not-too-heel shoe. She wanted to look more Worker-like than some casual job seekers.

Twenty minutes later, she was standing in front of the skyscraper. She watched as different luxury cars pulled up to the garage. Imagine they were all workers. She walked briskly down to the entrance and pull.

She knew it!

Hundreds of legs walking around to get down to the daily work. She walked quickly up to a lady who was about to enter her own compartment.

"Hi! Good morning." She greeted with a smile.

"Morning madam. How can I possibly be of help?"

"I'm new here. Job seeker. I came for the interview." She blurted out trying not to show her lack of interest in the whole thing.

"Oh! Take the left turn. Use the elevator. Stop at twenty three." She replied with a broad smile.

"Yeah. Thanks."

She move on to the elevator with so much

"Excuse me." till she reached the elevator. Five of them were preparing for the entrance. They were in and the twenty three number was pressed.

Judging by the way the people dressed, she knew she will never be employed. How can she dressed so haggard?! So was her thought.

Fifteen minutes after, she was sitting in front of the man. He is in his early thirties with a clean and well shaven beard. He is a kill hot shot. He was playing with a pen when she walked in. She had her bag to the front. Now, all the negative thought flew out of the window. They mustn't sent Leonardo back home from school. She has to give it all it takes. At least she is here now.

"Yes?" He demanded with his voice vibrating throughout the corner of the walls in its masculine richness.

She placed her CV before him on the table. Sooner did she realised that he is not interested in the CV.

"I'm Michael. You can call me Mike." He said.

"Oh! That's nice." She replied with a smirk.

She is not in for rubbish that morning. All she ever want was for her to get employed.

"You won't introduce yourself?"

"Chloe." She simply said.

"Chloe. That sounds romantic."

And she bet it did.

After ten minutes, she was about to go. He had wasted her time. She had been sitting there for the past ten minutes and he didn't bother to open the CV. All he said at the end of his admiring scenario was.

"You can go." And she was disappointed.

She tried to figure out if her dressing was woeful. Or maybe her composition. No matter how hard she tried to pinpoint what the matter could have been, she always ended up with nothing.

More like anger, she walked out of the office. She knew they will not select her. As she walked out of the building, Vivian call banged in.

"Hey girl. How is it?" She asked from the other end.

"I told you it's all messed up. I shouldn't have come." She lamented.

"It's better than not trying Chloe."

"I don't see that better side of it." She grunted.

"Why don't you pick your call? I'm not in and Bryan is waiting for you."

"Bryan?! What is he doing at my place?"

"How am I supposed to answer that question Chloe? Get your big ass down here now. He's been waiting for too long." Vivian boomed ending the call.

Chloe always hate it whenever Bryan showed up uninvited. She is just taking the instances up for Leonardo, nothing else. She can't pinpoint why Leo had loved him so.

She made towards the garage to board a cab when a car pulled in. She marveled. She started daydreaming of how madly she had fallen in love with the car. The owner might probably be the CEO of Evergreen. The security men were standing by the door and the other opening the door of the car widely.

Lo and behold! Ashton stepped out of the car with his usual vapour. He made for the button and lock it in. He used his hand to brush his hair backward. That's his usual charming. But it seems the charm isn't working anymore with Chloe. She stared with her mouth agape. Is she looking at Ashton now? The father of her baby?

She watched in awe as he elegantly walked into the building. She heaved. She wanted to go back inside so badly. She wanted to tell him how much she had hated him. But she dare not. They had reached an agreement. A stupid agreement. Now, all in her skull was just to make sure she is employed. She needs to work at Evergreen so badly more than she needs to pay Leonard's school fee. She just realised that.
