C53 Chapter 52
It's just that, we fell asleep earlier without any clothes or blankets and the air-con was still on, so suddenly I woke up and I could feel the extreme cold. It's a good thing I'm here near the bedside table so I turned down the AC and pulled the comforter to wrap around our naked bodies but it's like I feel a different cold, I hope I don't come home with a fever. Sigh.
Maybe it's just my tiredness that's why it's like this. I said to myself and then you snuggled up to Kenzo and continued to sleep.
"Why are you so serious?" I asked Kenzo when I caught up with him on my patio, he was focused on my cellphone while his eyebrows were touching making him look like a budobudo. Shit.
He looked up at me, while I came closer to him and then moved to the side where he was sitting.
"Mom sent me an update, that they already have a lead on where my sister is." I frowned.
"Are you my brother?" I asked him in disbelief. As he often does, he hugged my waist with one hand while his other hand was holding his cellphone and then he nodded to my question.
"Yeah, but we lost her when she was just 2 years old. That was seventeen years ago." My eyes widened because all this time I knew, or maybe all of us who work at the hacienda, that the Señorito was an only child - it turned out to be Kenzo.
"And your parents didn't give up on finding him?" I was so amazed that I even asked him. Kenzo shook his head again and then continued his story. It's a good thing because he often pegs one question and one answer.
"That happened when I was seven or eight years old, I barely remember. Since I was too young back then. The things I knew, were from Mom and Dad stories." And then he looked at my patio. I was about to sneeze but I just held it in and he was about to start talking, the sunlight was bright outside but I don't know if I was cold or not.
But that's right, I'm not into gossip, actually this is the first time I became interested in a story that didn't involve me.
But I also think that I might be curious because this is Kenzo, the Señorito of all of us. We don't know much about their family background apart from the fact that they are rich and they are good people.
"That day Mommy and Daddy set up a picnic for me and Marie. They barely spent time with us, rarely see each other. Most of the time, Marie and I spent our whole day with our nannies because they're busy at work. At that time, Daddy is just starting our construction business and Mom has to help him to recruit clients and possible investors for the expansion of the business." Kenzo's words made my mouth drop, at the same time my heart was beating fast. The It's weird, right? I don't even know why I'm feeling this way now.
"Mom wanted that day, to be extra special so she sent off our helpers, from our nannies to the guards. So, technically, its only the four of us on that big house that day.
I don't remember that day, but I saw a picture of us, Dad, Mom, Marie and I. That was taken on our lawn's mansion. Mommy attends to our needs, while Daddy is busy grilling another dish we can eat. It was a beautiful day, perfect for our picnic. However, if you are the business owner you don't have a day off and you should be on call anytime, especially if you are just starting on that career.
Dad had one call, then after him it was Mom who got another call, then another one for Dad until they were both busy talking on the other line. I was left with Marie, who was busy playing with the doll Mom gave her. That was our set up. I was left there watching the three of them getting busy with their own business.
I left Marie playing alone on the blanket, that's what Mommy said to me on her stories. She said there was a problem in one of the buildings they were building, there was a part of the floor collapsed and a few of our employees were hurt so badly but good thing no one died. However, they need to visit the site that day to check how things are going on. That means, the family day and the picnic they had set will be cancelled.
Since our helpers are on a day off, Mom and Dad took us to our Grandparents house so someone can watch us for the meantime. The grandparents I am talking about are on my Dad's side, Mom lost her parents when she was in her twenties and she's the only child. Dad had a bother even though he is based in the US. Grandpa is older than Grandma and because of his old age, his movements are limited, I remember him always sitting on a chair on the porch and when he walks, he always has my cane. That means its only Grandma who's going to watch over us.
Based on Mom's stories, she asks me to watch over Marie so Grandma can do other works at home and we have to behave until Daddy and her return. The rest of my memories are blurry but when I started to understand everything I learned that we lost Marie at my Grandparents house.
That answered my question why Mommy and Daddy are always busy, on why they don't have time for me as I grow up. I don't blame them for that, I understand them and I don't want anything but to find Marie as well.
We love her so much and miss her a lot especially Mom, who still cries every now and then for the loss of Marie. I know they weren't angry that I didn't keep an eye on Marie that day, they didn't have time for me because they were busy at work to make money and have something to spend on Marie's case. They never gave up looking for my sister and that's our set up from then until now.
