C8 He’s back

SOPHIA CASTILLO

Adrian came out after a while but this time he was fully dressed. He took his keys and left the room.

I cried all through the night and eventually fell asleep amidst it all.

When I woke up the next day, I woke up to the ray of the sun reflecting on my face.

I had not realized that I didn't close the window and I slept on the floor for the night until I woke up.

I groaned as I got up from where I slept. I looked at the bed to see that it was untouched. I didn't bother to think of Adrian as I didn't want to remember last night and how I shamelessly let myself fall in his webs.

"Come in," I said after hearing a knock on the door.

"Good morning ma'am," Sarah greeted and I smiled at her in return before walking into the bathroom to wash off.

By the time I came out, Sarah was almost done cleaning the room.

I stared at the alarm clock on the nightstand to see that it was fifteen minutes past eight. I placed my hand on my stomach to see that my stomach was rumbling.

I had not eaten yesterday and the little I ate was not enough.

"Did Adrian leave already?" I had to ask Sarah because I didn't want to bump into him. If I did, it would only make me remember the embarrassing moment yesterday.

"Sir Adrian?" I noticed how the skin between her brows creased.

"Yes," I replied.

"I haven't seen him. He left last night and I didn't see him come in so I do not know," she answered.

"Oh, I see," I nodded my head before walking out of the room to go feed my belly.

I realized that since Sarah didn't see Adrian come in last night, it only meant he didn't come home and it made me feel at ease because I wasn't ready to face him, not yet.

"Good morning ma'am," the maids in the kitchen greeted the moment they saw me walk in.

"Good morning," I replied with a smile on my face.

"What's for breakfast?" I asked them.

"Nobody gave us an order to prepare anything for breakfast so we didn't as Sir Adrian rarely ate in the morning," one of the maids answered.

"Okay," I said quietly.

"No problem then. I will make something for myself," I told them.

"No ma'am. You do not have to. Just tell us what you want and we will have it prepared for you," the maid that replied to me earlier said.

"No, you do not have to. I can handle it all myself," I told her.

"No, please. If sir Adrian came to see that you cooked instead of us, we will lose our job," she pleaded.

"What's it with him? I doubt he would. He doesn't care about me or what I do and besides he'd be glad you didn't help me," I replied to them shrugging.

"That's not true. As long as he pays us to work, we are to fulfill our duty. Please let me do this," she pleaded.

I sighed. "Fine. Just make me scrambled eggs," I told her before leaving the kitchen.

Adrian did not return to the mansion that day, the day after, and now it's up to a week since I last saw him.

At first, I didn't care but with time I started to worry even when I didn't want to.

I knew that his grandfather had given him two weeks off after our marriage so he could stay and bond with me so I knew that he didn't go to work.

Every night before I slept, scenes of what happened that night before he left flashed in my head, haunting me.

I couldn't believe I let myself fall for that. It was unlike me. I have never craved the touch of anyone before in my life.

I wanted to visit my parents. I miss them so much and I was tired of this place.

I have never had an issue being indoors all my life but after I got married to Adrian, being indoors was choking for me.

It's either I went to the balcony, sat down, and received gods natural gift, air or I was inside sleeping or reading a novel on my phone.

"Sophia," I heard Sarah call and I opened my eyes.

I have formed a bond with Sarah and I told her to call me by my name since she was older than two years older than me.

She has been helpful and comforting. Even though she only started calling me by my name yesterday, it meant a lot to me.

"Why don't you lie on the bed? You might feel pain from sleeping on the couch," she told me.

I smiled weakly at her. Even though Adrian hasn't returned for days now, I couldn't sleep on the bed as I feared he might come in one day and see me on the bed and he would flare-up.

I have never heard Adrian shout before or raise his voice at me but every time he spoke, I found it scarier that the voice of someone who shouts.

"I am fine just where I am," I lied to her.

I wasn't fine. I have never been fine and I will never be fine. I wanted to sleep peacefully but for days I have been unable to.

I didn't know how to tell her that Adrian had forbidden me from sleeping on the bed and although they were other rooms in the mansion, I was too scared to ask him to let me have one of those rooms.

"Are you sure?" She asked, staring into my eyes as if asking for questions.

"Yes, I am," I told her before getting up from the couch to sit down.

"Fine then," she said.

At that moment the door to the room opened and Adrian's cologne filled the room. He has always been able to attract everyone's attention through his cologne. It was impossible not to notice him whenever he was around.

I stood up from where I sat in shock and the moment my eyes landed on him, my heart skipped.

It's felt like decades since I last saw him
