“Who called you?” Brent asked after Beverley returned. The woman smiled and shook her head slowly.

“No one. Just an old acquaintance,” Beverley replied as she helped Brent put on his tie. She inhaled as much air as she could and filled her lungs with the tantalizing scent of Brent’s perfume.

Beverley felt calmer after that. She finished her work and smiled with satisfaction at Brent’s neat tie
