C13 Did You Bring the Birth Certificate?

Turning his head, the man spoke in a cool, soothing voice, "Did you bring the ID?"

It took a moment for Ruanruan to realize that Liting was planning to take her to get their marriage license.

Her cheeks flushed with a rosy hue, and she nodded gently.

After a pause, as if remembering something, she pulled a ten-dollar bill from her pocket and handed it to him.

"As a thank-you for your wedding gift, consider the license on me."

Liting's eyes lingered playfully on the ten-dollar bill, his eyebrow raised with interest.

In his twenty-something years, no one had ever dared to offer him money, something he valued so little, as a token of appreciation.

Yet, Ruanruan's sweet, gentle smile and charming dimples seemed to brush softly against his heart like a feather, leaving him with a pleasant tickle.

Almost unconsciously, he reached out and accepted the bill, nodding slightly, "Alright, let's go."

Tiantian raised her chubby little hand eagerly, her voice ringing out with excitement, "Tiantian wants to go too!"

Ruanruan smiled indulgently and scooped Tiantian up in her arms. Despite having no blood relation to the child, she felt an unexpected warmth and affection.

As the three of them opened the door, they were met with the face of an unfamiliar woman. Upon recognizing her, Choo Liting couldn't help but frown slightly. "Mom, what brings you here?"

Wen Ruanruan was taken aback and took a moment to closely observe the woman in front of her. She appeared to be in her forties or fifties, impeccably maintained. Her attire was from a high-end brand, and her every gesture exuded the grace of someone with an aristocratic upbringing. However, her face, still retaining its charm, was perpetually marked by a serious and stern expression. Even the usually lively and adorable Tiantian seemed to tone down in her presence.

Beside Choo’s mother stood Zhou Xirou, her eyes red from crying. Choo’s mother’s gaze fell on the two marriage certificates in Liting’s hand, and her expression turned sour. "Ting, aren't you going to give me an explanation?"

Liting's dark eyes remained calm, his tone steady. "Ruanruan and I are going to get our marriage license. The wedding is set for March, and I hope you’ll be there."

In an instant, Choo’s mother was furious. "Do you even know what you're saying? Our family has a reputation to uphold! How can you marry a woman of unknown background? Where does that leave our family's honor?"

Wen Ruanruan was displeased. What did she mean by a woman of unknown background? She was born fair and square, not someone who just appeared out of nowhere!

Faced with the woman in front of her, who was none other than Choo Liting's mother, she had to suppress her irritation.

"Wen Ruanruan, a graduate of a top-tier art university in Yuncheng, majored in painting. During her time there, she won the prestigious Bruce International Art Competition. After graduation, she joined the elite Choo's Commercial Group as the chief designer. In terms of ability, education, and experience, Wen Ruanruan is second to none. Mom, what do you mean by saying she's of unknown origin?"

Choo Liting's words were firm and clear, his sharp gaze unwavering. His tall frame stood protectively in front of Wen Ruanruan, causing her heart to skip a beat.

Since her parents passed away, she had been holding up her world and her brother's all by herself. It had been so long since she felt protected by someone.
