C16 The Bottom Line Danced!
She rolled her eyes and fainted.
“Xirou!” Choo’s mother gasped in shock and hurried forward to help.
Wen Ruanruan slowly stood up, coldly watching Xirou lying on the ground, her tightly clenched fists gradually relaxing.
In the ensuing chaos, Choo’s mother and the others rushed Xirou to the hospital, leaving only Choo Liting and Wen Ruanruan in the yard.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean for her to get hurt,” Wen Ruanruan said with an apologetic smile. Her intention was merely to teach the outspoken Xirou a lesson, but Xirou turned out to be more delicate than she had imagined. Today’s punishment might have been a bit too much.
Choo Liting was a bit surprised. “Why are you apologizing?”
“She and you...” Wen Ruanruan trailed off, feeling awkward. Admitting that her fiancé had some kind of ambiguous relationship with another woman felt strange, even if there were no feelings involved.
But Choo Liting understood her implication, a mysterious glint in his eyes. “Jealous?”
“You’ve got it wrong,” Wen Ruanruan quickly retorted.
“There’s nothing between us,” Choo Liting clarified.
Wen Ruanruan paused, surprised that he was explaining himself, worried she might misunderstand.
Her heart softened, and before she realized it, a cool, firm hand grasped her wrist.
Then, she heard his clear, pleasant voice by her ear, “If we’re late, the courthouse will be closed.”
Half an hour later, Wen found herself holding a freshly issued marriage certificate, feeling a bit dazed. She could hardly believe she was now married to a man she barely knew.
Lost in thought, the familiar black Maybach pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down to reveal Choo Liting in the driver's seat. He offered a slight smile, his eyes captivating, "Hop in, Mrs. Choo."
The unfamiliar title sent a flutter through Wen's heart. Suppressing a grin, she carefully opened the passenger door, only to spot a bright pink cartoon sticker on the dashboard: "Reserved for Mrs. Choo. Other ladies, please sit in the back."
Wen couldn't help but laugh. She never expected the man known for his stern demeanor to indulge in such romantic gestures.
Choo seemed a bit awkward himself, glancing away with a slight cough to mask his embarrassment. "Special Assistant Lin said women like these things."
Wen smiled softly, "Thank you, I really do."
"Would you like to see your brother?" Choo's voice was deep and resonant.
Wen's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't seen her brother in a long time and eagerly nodded her head.
"Hold on tight."
The car started and quickly disappeared around the corner.
In the VIP suite at Moses Private Hospital—
Choo Liting went to park in the underground garage, leaving Wen Ruanruan to approach the room alone. Just as she was about to open the door, a familiar, sharp voice echoed from inside: "You little wretch, hiding here, are you? Still taking medicine? You're useless now, and you still have the nerve to live? Maybe I should help you out!"
It was Qi Wanwan! Wen Ruanruan's heart tightened as she pushed the door open forcefully.
Qi Wanwan turned around, startled, as the bowl of medicine spilled into the flowerpot beside her. Wen Sizhe, her brother, lay weakly against the headboard, his face ghostly pale.
Wen Ruanruan couldn't help but clench her fists, her anger boiling over. She strode forward, her steps quick and determined, and swung her arm, landing a fierce slap on Qi Wanwan's perfectly made-up face.
