C7 I'm even more excited

Emily and Grace fell silent, their gazes emitting a strong aura of hostility through their sharp stares.

"So, what brings you here?" Emily asked sharply, trying to hide her annoyance.

Grace responded with the elegance she always displayed, with a thin smile. "I thought I'd meet Axton if I came early, but it seems there's a different sight that makes me feel slightly better about coming to this house," Grace said in a condescending tone that made Emily want to curse her right then and there. Emily never imagined that a few years ago, she could be friends with such an annoying woman.

"Previously, Axton always asked me to drive him to the office while giving sweet kisses on my forehead before he left. But it seems his habits have started to change," Grace continued with a sly smile, making Emily roll her eyes lazily.

"You don't need to comment on other people's marital affairs because I don't need it. What you need to do is state your purpose, then leave because I still have a lot of work to do," Emily said firmly, trying to keep her composure.

Grace finally withdrew her smile and, in a sharper tone, she said, "I never imagined that all this time I was friends with a flatterer and a cheap woman like you." That comment instantly made Emily clench her fists in anger.

"I should be the one saying that because I never expected to be friends with such a hypocritical woman like you. I pity Axton for hoping that a woman who had let him go would come back, and I wonder why a woman like you is so greedy for the love of two men who fill your heart. Are you really that starved for affection?" Emily retorted sharply, responding to Grace's verbal attacks.

Emily was skilled at provoking someone's emotions, and in this situation, she felt more confident in getting her former friend even more provoked. Grace herself looked visibly agitated and stood up from her seat with a flushed face.

Grace tried to defend herself, "Watch your words because Axton still loves me. And don't be too confident just because you're married now. Marriage is just an excuse Axton took so I could quickly return to his arms," Grace said confidently, although Emily just smiled casually.

However, Emily didn't stop there. She continued with a question that left Grace speechless. "So why haven't you been able to leave your husband, Ethan? Are you currently comparing between Axton and your current husband? I know very well what your attitude has been like after years of being the closest person to you. I know how a Grace takes the best out of her choices."

Grace fell completely silent because she herself couldn't find a strong reason to leave Ethan. Whether it was because she felt comfortable with Ethan or because her parents said that Ethan was the best for her. Ethan was a warm, caring man who treated Grace gently. However, Grace couldn't avoid the fact that she still had feelings for her ex-husband, Axton. She was just filled with doubts right now, especially when she heard that Axton had married her own friend. This made Grace resent their marriage.

"Are you kidding me? You speak as if you know me completely. Just so you know, Axton doesn't like overly confident women like you. He doesn't like dominant women. That's just advice for you," Grace retorted, trying to refute Emily.

But Emily laughed instead. "Is that so? But these past few days living with him, he seems to like the opposite of what you're saying. He seems to like dominant women, and that's spot on," Emily teased, making Grace furrow her brows.

"Why should I believe you? You can ask Axton directly. I'll even give you one more piece of information. If you want to meet Axton, it's better to come during lunchtime. I'll personally deliver his lunch to the office. He wants my cooking for his lunch. How about that? Do you miss my cooking too, my dear friend?" Emily said with a mocking smile, which made Grace clench her fists in anger.

"Don't waste your time just to get Axton's attention, and don't be too confident just because Axton is sweet to you and sees you as someone he knew before," Grace said firmly, then turned and left the house abruptly.

Emily felt satisfied to have made Grace feel anxious and worried like that. She knew very well Grace's attitude of always wanting to get what she wanted. Emily knew that Grace simply couldn't accept it if Axton fell into her arms.

However, after that, Emily sighed deeply and sat on the large sofa. She gazed up at the white-themed living room ceiling. Even though she had successfully provoked Grace, she still felt irritated by Axton's attitude earlier that morning when he didn't touch the breakfast she had prepared. Emily felt Axton was treating her coldly, and it frustrated her. Emily then rose from her seat with a determination to address this issue.

"It seems preparing lunch for my husband isn't a bad idea," Emily said with a bright smile. She felt enthusiastic and already had a good idea of bringing lunch to Axton's office. With the day off she had today, Emily had plenty of free time to do whatever she pleased.

Emily hurried to the kitchen but realized that the fridge was empty. She needed to go shopping first before she could cook her husband's favorite meal.

"All right, for some reason, I'm even more excited now," Emily said as she got ready. She knew that she had a few hours to cook, and shopping would be enough to prepare lunch for her husband.

Emily was curious about the expression Axton would have when she arrived at his office. Although she could already guess that Axton might behave cold and flat as usual, she pictured Axton's surprised face when he saw her. It was an image that made her smile.
