C21 Law Enforcement Team

"Xiao Ling..."

As Lau Miaoyi listened to Xiao Ling's words, her eyes shimmered with emotion, deeply moved by his sentiment.

It was clear that Xiao Ling saw her as someone significant in his life.

"I'm furious!"

Pinned beneath Xiao Ling's foot, Wang Yi struggled in vain. His voice was fierce on the surface, but his fear was palpable: "You little punk, you've crossed the Wang family. No matter where you run, your fate is sealed—you're a dead man!"

Xiao Ling gazed down at Wang Yi, his face stoic, eyes brimming with lethal intent. If not for the fact they were in True Martial City, Wang Yi would have been crushed underfoot long ago.

"Out of the way, everyone clear out!"

Just then, a boisterous voice cut through the air as a group of True Martial City's law enforcement officers arrived with a swagger.

"Brother Huang, help me!"

Wang Yi, spotting the brash young leader, clung to him like a lifeline, pleading, "Brother Huang, this guy is out of control! He attacked me and even my servant. You must right this wrong!"

"Wang Yi, it's you?"

The young man paused, feigning surprise before adopting a solemn tone, "Tell me everything that happened. I promise to enforce the law impartially."

Xiao Ling let out a cold laugh. The law enforcement had been close by all along, yet they only showed up now that Wang Yi was at his mercy. It was clear to him; these officers were far from honorable.

"Miaoyi, you should go ahead."

He turned to Lau Miaoyi, "These aren't the kind of people you want to mess with. Find your brother and get out of True Martial City quickly. And please, take good care of Xiaojin for me."

"Xiao Ling, what about you?"

Worry clouded Lau Miaoyi's beautiful eyes. She knew her presence was a hindrance, potentially holding Xiao Ling back.

But she couldn't bear the thought of running from a situation she had caused.

"I've got my own way out."

Xiao Ling shook his head reassuringly, "I'll keep them busy. You need to leave now."

Xiao Ling's unwavering gaze met Lau Miaoyi's tear-filled eyes. With a nod, she silently departed from the scene.

Meanwhile, Wang Yi lamented to Huang Ba, "Brother Huang, I was merely strolling down the pedestrian street when this guy, coveting the East Sea Bright Moon Pearl I had, attempted to rob me."

"Lucky for me, you showed up just in time, Brother Huang. I could have been a goner!"

Wang Yi was all tears and snot, playing the part of the victim to the hilt.

Listening to Wang Yi's tale, Huang Ba couldn't help but scoff internally.

Wang Yi's reputation was no secret; he had simply bitten off more than he could chew this time, resulting in his current plight.

Still, the Wang family had been good to him, and they were the ones who had promoted his law enforcement captain. It was only natural for him to back Wang Yi.

After all, this wasn't the first time he had to clean up after Wang Yi.

"Kid, I've got the full picture now."

Huang Ba eyed Xiao Ling critically and declared, "Robbing and wounding people in broad daylight? You're outright defying the laws of True Martial City. I hereby pronounce you under arrest!"

With that, he launched a palm strike at Xiao Ling.

*Boom!*

The palm wind howled, the air itself seeming to burst, reaching Xiao Ling in an instant.

Xiao Ling's pupils contracted sharply as he met the attack with a punch.

"Fierce Flame Fist!"

His arm blazed with wild flames, like a dragon, clashing head-on with the roaring palm wind.

Rumble!

The impact was thunderous, sending shockwaves of Yuan Qi rippling through the air.

Da Da Da!

Xiao Ling staggered back several steps, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth, his dark eyes fixed intently on Huang Ba.

"Five-star Martial Master Stage!"

In that brief clash, Xiao Ling had gauged Huang Ba's formidable strength.

Facing a Five-star Martial Master, he was clearly outmatched.

"To withstand one of my blows, impressive indeed."

Huang Ba's gaze was one of utter astonishment. It was inconceivable to him that a mere flick of his wrist, an attack so casual, could be thwarted by a Nine-star martial artist. The feat was profoundly unsettling.

Consider this: Huang Ba was a Five-star Martial Master, and even his peers often failed to withstand such a lackadaisical blow. Yet Xiao Ling had accomplished just that.

It made sense now why Wang Yi had fallen to this youngster. Xiao Ling's prowess was such that he could effortlessly dispatch Wang Yi.

Despite his inner turmoil, Huang Ba's demeanor toward Xiao Ling remained icy and merciless. With a dismissive gesture, he commanded, "Seize this upstart!"

In a flurry of movement, the law enforcement team encircled Xiao Ling, their gazes predatory and unrelenting.

"Surrender now."

Standing with his hands behind his back, Huang Ba declared, "Your abilities are commendable, but ultimately, you're just at the Nine-star level!"

Xiao Ling felt a heavy weight descend upon his heart.

A full-on confrontation, given his current level of power, would be tantamount to suicide.

"Curse it..."

His fists clenched, Xiao Ling's piercing gaze locked onto Huang Ba, as intense and fathomless as the depths of a dark lake.

He was painfully aware of his own inadequacy.

With greater strength, he wouldn't have to fear these men.

Just wait. Once I've grown stronger, your end will be certain!

Huang Ba shivered inwardly as he caught Xiao Ling's somber stare.

"Impossible, he's merely a Nine-star martial artist. How can his gaze instill such dread, shaking me to my core?"

A sense of foreboding unsettled Huang Ba, his irritation mounting as his eyes grew even more frigid.

"These law enforcers are masters of inversion! Now I've seen it all!"

Resigned to his fate, Xiao Ling spoke out, "The laws of True Martial City amount to nothing more than hot air!"

"To condemn me on his word alone, is that what passes for justice here?"

With his arms folded across his chest, Xiao Ling's voice took on an icy edge, "Ladies and gentlemen, I may have been bested today. But before I go quietly, there are things I must say. To remain silent would be unbearable!"

"Every one of us is a martial artist, fighting tooth and nail on the path of martial arts to empower ourselves and prevent others from pushing us around!"

"In the Divine Martial Continent, the strong rule supreme. But in a world that honors strength above all, without laws or systems in place, those with power would likely slaughter us without a second thought."

"We reside in True Martial City, trusting in its legal system, believing in the Flame Yellow Empire's institutions, because they ensure we don't have to live in constant fear like those outside."

"It's been on my mind that some individuals disregard these systems, exploiting them to harm us Martial Cultivators for their own gain. It's utterly unjust!"

"Are these laws incapable of restraining those with formidable power and influence?"

"If they can't hold them back, they might as well kill us at their convenience, and yet we're expected not to fight back. How does that make any sense?"

"Let's face it, without us Martial Cultivators, True Martial City would lose its luster!"

...

Xiao Ling's words hit like a relentless volley, leaving Huang Ba and the rest of the enforcement team speechless, with even Wang Yi standing there, his face a mask of shock, unable to utter a word.

"Bravo! Brother, you've hit the nail on the head!"

The crowd, filled with passionate Martial Cultivators, echoed Xiao Ling's sentiments.

We all train and embark on the journey of Martial Cultivation so we won't be trampled upon.

They chose to stay in True Martial City because it offers a system of governance, a stark contrast to the lawless lands beyond where life is cheap and deaths go unnoticed.

"Have you enforcement officers gone blind? Wang Yi, a blight upon our city, has brought ruin to countless respectable women. Are you not aware?"

"Is this what passes for a Law Enforcement Team? More like corrupt Martial Cultivators who twist the truth!"

"These people were mere spectators from a distance, but now that Wang Yi has met his match, they emerge, ignoring his misdeeds and instead targeting an honorable young warrior. Such 'enforcement' is a mockery!"

"Is there no law left? This is utter nonsense!"

Amidst the seething anger of the onlookers, Martial Cultivators all around, Huang Ba's face unwittingly dripped with sweat the size of beans, as he internally berated Wang Yi over and over.

"What are you waiting for? Take him away, now!"

Huang Ba, wiping the sweat from his face, barked at the Law-Enforcing Team members who were still hesitating.

This situation had to be contained at all costs!

Otherwise, if Wang Yi got into trouble, Huang Ba's livelihood would be at risk.

Spurred by his command, the enforcers' hesitation vanished, and they promptly seized Xiao Ling.

"Fellow Martial Cultivators, I shall depart first!"

Xiao Ling declared with a hearty laugh, "The Wang family wields too much power. I advise you all to steer clear of them in the future, lest you share my fate."

Xiao Ling's words ignited the fury in the eyes of the warriors who had suffered at the hands of the Wang family. They each released a formidable aura, one after another.

"What's this? Thinking of rebelling?"

Huang Ba, shocked, bellowed, "This is True Martial City, and we are the Law-Enforcing Team. You know the consequences of attacking us!"

The Martial Cultivators' eyes blazed with unquenchable rage, yet they restrained themselves from lashing out.

The laws of True Martial City were not to be trifled with, and they dared not cross the Wang family or the City Lord's Mansion.

Seizing the moment, Huang Ba and his team beat a hasty retreat, a stark contrast to their earlier bravado.

"Wang Yi, look at the mess you've caused!"

Once they reached a less crowded corner, Huang Ba couldn't resist scolding Wang Yi.

The intense stares from the Martial Cultivators had left Huang Ba shaken to the core.

Had he not been a member of the Law-Enforcing Team, he might well have been mobbed to death!

"Brother Huang, this isn't my fault!" Wang Yi protested, his face a picture of aggrievement. He glared venomously at Xiao Ling and added, "It's all this jerk's fault. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be in this humiliating predicament in front of everyone!"

As he spoke, he strode toward Xiao Ling and delivered a fierce punch to his stomach, sneering maliciously, "How does it feel? Now do you understand what happens when you cross me?"

"Is that all you've got? Feels like you're just tickling me," Xiao Ling taunted, suppressing his pain and fixing Wang Yi with an unflinching gaze. "It's no wonder you lost to me. A pampered scion drained by indulgence—what good are you beyond feasting, frolicking, and picking on the defenseless?"

"You're begging for death!" Wang Yi's face contorted with rage, and he hesitated for a split second before his hands clenched into fists and he began to pummel Xiao Ling's chest in a frenzy.

He unleashed the full force of a Martial Master, yet Xiao Ling didn't utter a sound. Wang Yi's fury intensified under Xiao Ling's scornful look.

"Pathetic, can't you hit any harder?" Xiao Ling coughed up a mouthful of blood, spraying it across Wang Yi's face.

Gasping for air, Wang Yi was momentarily stunned as the blood hit his face. Then, overcome with madness, he yanked a longsword from a nearby law enforcement officer and plunged it viciously toward Xiao Ling's heart.

"I will kill you!"
