C19 Their Hostility Was a Bit Heavy
Wen Yiran approached Shi Muxue with curiosity.
"Muxue, what are you looking at?"
Her gaze followed Muxue's to where Sheng Xu and Lu Sizhe had just hopped into a sports car and sped away.
Regaining her composure, Muxue replied nonchalantly, "Nothing."
Wen Yiran's smile held a hint of intrigue as she teased, "Nothing? It seemed to me you were watching Young Master Sheng and Young Master Lu. Do you fancy one of them?"
"Stop making things up." Muxue hesitated briefly before adding, "By the way, I'm skipping the afternoon class. Can you cover for me and request leave?"
"Sure, no problem. Go take care of your business," Wen Yiran responded cheerfully.
She knew it was wise to maintain a good relationship with Muxue, anticipating future advantages.
Meanwhile, the school was abuzz with rumors about Shi Qian and Sheng Xu. Shi Qian herself appeared unaffected, finding a tranquil spot under a tree where she casually leaned on a bench, engrossed in her game.
As she focused on her phone screen, her brow furrowed slightly. 'Handsome, Exploding the Universe' seemed particularly aggressive today, fighting chaotically and attacking every opponent in sight.
Shi Qian sent a message.
[@Handsome, Exploding the Universe, have you lost your mind? Or did you take the wrong medicine? Why are you lashing out at everyone?]
Sheng Xu, the man behind 'Handsome, Exploding the Universe,' replied: [I've been dumped. Can't I blow off some steam?]
Shi Qian: [Sure.]
After a brief pause, she messaged again: [How about we up the ante today? Feel like taking down the latest ultimate boss? I'm not exactly in the best mood either.]
'Handsome, Exploding the Universe' Sheng Xu: [Let's do it.]
Lu Sizhe, driving, glanced over at Sheng Xu in the passenger seat. "Hey, what gives? You didn't wait for me to join in."
Sheng Xu retorted, "Just drive!"
Sizhe shot back, "Fine, have it your way!"
Together, Sheng Xu and Shi Qian set off to defeat the newly released boss.
After defeating the formidable boss at the cliff's edge, players could cross the narrow bridge to access the Level 10 map. To date, no one on the server had achieved this milestone. Fewer than ten players had even made it to the Level 9 map, with the majority of players still navigating Levels 1 through 3. Those with more skill could advance to the Level 5 or 6 maps, but progressing beyond Level 6 was a significant challenge. Despite frequent complaints about the game's difficulty and intensity, players remained hooked, continuing to play even as they grumbled.
Sheng Xu, wielding the Soul Slashing Sword, lunged at the Spider Spirit, only to be swiftly kicked, losing 3000 HP in the process. Shi Qian, with a frown and through a voice changer, remarked, "Big brother, surely there are better ways to go down than this." Sheng Xu, through clenched teeth, responded, "It was a mistake." Undeterred, he got back on his feet to continue the battle. Together, they engaged the Spider Spirit once more.
In the midst of the intense fight, Shi Qian noticed a girl approaching. Looking up, she saw a rather cute girl standing before her. The girl offered a friendly smile and said, "Hello." Shi Qian inquired, "Is something wrong?" The girl pointed to the bench Shi Qian was sitting on and awkwardly explained, "You're sitting on my book. I accidentally left it here earlier." Shi Qian promptly stood, now realizing she had indeed been sitting on a book about computers. She picked it up and handed it to the girl, asking, "Are you a computer science major?"
"Thank you," the girl replied, accepting the book. "Yes, we're in the same year. You might not have noticed me." She smiled innocently and added, "But I know you, Shi Qian. You're the campus beauty at Imperial University, and not only are you stunning, but you're also impressive in combat." Shi Qian returned the smile, "Thank you, and you're quite beautiful yourself." Flattered by Shi Qian's compliment, the girl blushed slightly. After a brief pause, she ventured, "May I have a conversation with you?"
