Despite his apparent distaste, Lu Sizhe reluctantly joined Sheng Xu at the table.

Shi Qian, propping her chin in her hands, seemed utterly indifferent to the two men behind her.

At noon, Shi Qian and Wen Ke'er headed to the restaurant.

Sheng Xu and Lu Sizhe decided to join them at their table.

Suddenly, everyone was jealous of Wen Ke'er.

The idea of dining with two incredibly handsome guys and a stunning beauty was truly delightful.

Shi Muxue and Wen Yiran had just entered the restaurant when they caught sight of the four seated together.

Their faces turned sour in an instant.

Shi Muxue thought she could keep her composure, but ultimately, she couldn't bear it and left the restaurant.

Wen Yiran, feeling equally uncomfortable, followed suit.

She couldn't stand seeing Wen Ke'er, whom she had always scorned, sharing a table with Sheng Xu and Lu Sizhe, who seemed so out of reach.

Sheng Xu sat directly across from Shi Qian, watching her intently.

Shi Qian began her meal unfazed.

However, his persistent gaze soon started to irritate her.

At that moment, Wen Ke'er spoke up, "Qian, I'm going to buy some water. What would you like?"

"No thanks, I'm not thirsty."

"Oh? Then I'll just pick something out." With that, Wen Ke'er left to make her purchase.

Shi Qian spoke up calmly, "Sheng Xu, whatever issues you have with Jiang Ci, leave me out of it, or else..."

She raised her eyes to meet his. "I'm not afraid to throw a punch."

Sheng Xu was taken aback.

He had just been threatened!

Sheng, of all people, had been threatened in the capital!

Lu Sizhe couldn't suppress a laugh.

Sheng Xu was momentarily taken aback, then he too burst into laughter.

It turned out that Shi Qian's rejection wasn't due to a lack of affection but a misunderstanding.

She had assumed he approached her because of his animosity towards Jiang Ci.

Sheng Xu chuckled, "Hey! Are you swaggering around because Jiang Ci has got your back?"

Shi Qian looked up at him, a smile playing on her lips. "You've got it all wrong. He's not the one covering for me; back in high school, I was the one covering for him."

She had never been bested in a fight.

Sheng Xu found himself speechless again.

Shi Qian clearly wasn't kidding.

Moreover, he had witnessed Shi Qian's prowess when that thug came looking for trouble; her movements were few but telling, her skills far from ordinary.

The young lady was quite bold.

He quickly clarified, "You've got the wrong idea. I didn't seek you out because of Jiang Ci. I like you for who you are, and it has nothing to do with him.

And I, Sheng Xu, would never exploit a girl, even if I had issues with someone else. You have my word on that."

Shi Qian just smiled, offering no reply.

She lowered her gaze and continued with her meal.

Clearly, she wasn't convinced.

Sheng Xu watched her, his frustration growing.

A little later, Wen Ke'er returned with two bottles of orange juice.

Just two bottles, none for Sheng Xu or Lu Sizhe.

Clearly, she wasn't the type to curry favor with the powerful.

"Qian, this is for you," Wen Ke'er said, placing the orange juice beside Shi Qian.

Shi Qian turned to her with a grateful smile. "Thanks."

Once they finished their meal, Shi Qian and Wen Ke'er took their leave.

Before departing, Shi Qian told Sheng Xu, "Don't follow me."

A gloomy expression clouded Sheng Xu's face.

No amount of consolation from Lu Sizhe could lift his spirits.

He had never before encountered someone who so thoroughly disregarded him.
