C43 A Demonic Beast Beast
Yan Yi handed his phone to Shaang Sizhan. "Take a look."
Taking the phone, Shaang Sizhan's eyes fell upon the photo of Shi Qian on the screen, and the insulting words in the headline above it. His handsome face darkened instantly.
Unaware of the change in Shaang Sizhan's expression, Shi Qian's attention was captured by two white figures in the bamboo forest. She approached, driven by curiosity.
Pushing open the massive white steel gate, she stepped into the bamboo grove.
Suddenly, two enormous roars pierced her ears, and before her stood two massive creatures. Their fur was as white as snow, and they resembled wolves, though they were several times larger. Their emerald eyes glowed with a fierce and otherworldly light.
Shi Qian was rooted to the spot in shock.
What kind of Demonic Beast was this?
And why was it in the bamboo forest?
The Demonic Beasts fixed their gaze on Shi Qian, then suddenly raised their massive paws. Towering over her with their two-meter stature, they lunged at her with ferocity.
With no weapon in hand, she could only retreat swiftly to evade the beasts' assault.
After their initial miss, the beasts lunged at her again!
Just as Shi Qian braced to dodge once more...
A dark figure surged towards her at an even greater speed, swept her into his arms, and whisked her to the side.
Shi Qian looked up.
It was Shaang Sizhan.
Cradling her, Shaang Sizhan's piercing gaze shot towards the two white behemoths as he commanded with icy authority, "Back off!"
The creatures, upon seeing Shaang Sizhan, immediately lost their aggressive demeanor. Their dark green eyes glanced at the formidable boss, retreating several steps.
Subsequently, they bent their limbs and lay down submissively, as if acknowledging their error.
Shi Qian was speechless.
Shaang Sizhan, looking down at the girl in his embrace, asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Shi Qian replied, shaking her head with a composed air.
Wanting to reassure Shaang Sizhan that she wasn't frightened, she smiled and added, "The martial arts I've practiced these past few years haven't been in vain."
Shaang Sizhan gave her a once-over, ensuring she was unharmed, before allowing himself to relax.
After Yan Yi ended the call, he immediately sent people to look into the online slander against Shi Qian. He then hurried over to her and asked with concern, "Miss Qian, are you alright?"
Shi Qian looked at him and smiled reassuringly, "I'm fine."
Turning her attention to the two Demonic Beasts sprawled on the ground, she inquired, "Master Zhan, are these the gifts you sent me?"
Shaang Sizhan glanced at the two white Demonic Beasts and confirmed, "Yes, they are."
"What kind of Demonic Beasts are these?"
"They're snow wolves," Shaang Sizhan explained. "They're a specially bred variety, so they're much larger than the typical snow wolf."
Wolves, then.
After a brief pause, Shaang Sizhan added seriously, "If you don't like them, I can have Yan Yi stew them."
Shi Qian was at a loss for words.
Yan Yi was equally speechless.
Stew them!
Master Zhan, you can't be serious!
They were air-freighted from another continent!
And they're a rare breed that took ages to cultivate!
The two large creatures seemed to grasp Shaang Sizhan's words, their previously drooping ears perking up instantly. Their once fierce gaze softened into one of pitiful innocence.
They resembled an adorable, oversized Samoyed, looking back and forth between Shaang Sizhan and Shi Qian.
Seeing their expressions, Shi Qian couldn't help but find the two beasts rather endearing.
"Don't even think about it; I like them," Shi Qian chuckled. "Actually, they're quite majestic and formidable."
The two creatures seemed to understand her words, their emerald eyes gazing at her filled with emotion, as if they were on the verge of tears.
"By the way, what do they eat?" Shi Qian asked, looking up at Shaang Sizhan.
Shaang Sizhan gave her a piercing look and replied succinctly, "Meat."
Shi Qian was momentarily taken aback.
She was well aware that such fierce beasts consumed meat, but she wondered exactly what kind of meat they preferred.
