C47 Too Jealous
Shi Qian felt the air around her growing increasingly thin, as if her very breath was being stolen away.
She couldn't help but silently grumble to herself. It was just a phone call; was there really a need to be so dramatic about it?
Was this supposed to be a kiss? It felt more like he was trying to devour her.
The tempestuous kissing finally calmed, and Shaang Sizhan's lips parted slightly from hers, both of them catching their breath.
Shaang Sizhan was fuming, while Shi Qian was gasping for air.
After a moment, Shaang Sizhan stood up, still holding Shi Qian, and gently placed her back in the chair beside him.
With a nonchalant tone, he said, "Continue with your painting."
Shi Qian was at a loss for words.
She gazed at the man's icy expression, filled with confusion. She had only answered a call from Jiang Ci. Why was he acting as if she had been unfaithful?
She had made it clear that she and Jiang Ci were just friends!
Shaang Sizhan returned to his own seat and resumed his work.
Shi Qian resolved then and there to never again answer Jiang Ci's calls in front of the daunting Master Zhan.
His jealousy was just too intense.
If Master Zhan ever lashed out at Jiang Ci in a fit of pique, that would spell trouble.
By the afternoon, Shi Qian had essentially finalized the initial design for the Demonic Beast game, and she stretched contentedly, unable to suppress a compliment: "So handsome!" Then, turning to Shaang Sizhan, she asked, "Master Zhan, what do you think?"
Shaang Sizhan, who had been contemplating the fate of the Demonic Beasts with less than charitable intentions, softened at the sight of the girl's eager anticipation. He couldn't bring himself to dampen her spirits.
He responded, "It looks great."
Shi Qian beamed, "Then that's the one."
Come evening, Shi Qian headed to the bamboo forest to seek out the Demonic Beasts once more.
She darted through the forest, flanked by two large white creatures—one to her left and the other to her right—keeping pace with her.
When she grew tired from the run, she stopped, and the two snow wolves sat down beside her.
Standing nearly 1.7 meters tall, Shi Qian was almost eye-level with the seated snow wolves.
Shi Qian wanted to pat their heads, but she had to reach up to do so.
While stroking the Demonic Beast's head, she said, "You run really fast. From now on, you'll join me for speed training. What have you been eating to get so big? Are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?"
The two creatures perked up their ears, their faces practically spelling out 'yes'!
Inside the villa, Shaang Sizhan descended the stairs.
He entered the living room and, seeing Yan Yi, inquired, "Where's Qian?"
Yan Yi promptly responded, "Master Zhan, Miss Qian is likely in the bamboo forest with the Demonic Beasts."
Shaang Sizhan paused for a moment, then with a stern expression, commanded, "Tell her to come back for dinner!"
"Yes, I'll go right away!" Yan Yi said before dashing off.
Upon entering the bamboo forest, Yan Yi spotted three figures—one slim and two plump—and approached them.
Shi Qian, seeing him, said, "Yan Yi, your timing is perfect. Fetch me some food; I want to feed the Demonic Beasts."
Yan Yi, with a smile, relayed, "Miss Qian, Master Zhan has asked you to return for dinner."
"I'll feed them and then head back," Shi Qian replied.
Yan Yi, looking concerned, pressed, "Miss Qian, perhaps you should return now. Otherwise, these two might end up on the menu tomorrow."
He glanced meaningfully at the Demonic Beasts.
Shi Qian paused, suddenly feeling a twinge of sympathy for the creatures.
"Fine, I'll go back first. But make sure someone comes to feed them."
"Absolutely, I'll send someone to feed them right away."
"Great." Shi Qian gave the beasts one last pat before leaving the bamboo forest and heading back to the villa.
