C21 Facing Fury

As I entered the house, I saw Olivia sitting on the couch, rubbing her belly even as Evelyn chatted together with her. Anthony turned into nowhere in sight, in all likelihood upstairs. They didn’t even know me as I walked in, which makes me simply exceptional. I headed straight for my room, shutting the door in the back of me with an experience of finality.

Noah turned into proper. It became time to start thinking about taking walks away. But how do you walk far away from something you by no means needed to begin with?

Later that night, I determined myself on the phone with Noah once more. His voice, on the other hand, changed into informal, but there was an underlying excitement that caught my interest.

“There’s a celebration this weekend,” Noah stated, his tone light. “A huge one. I need you to come with me.”

I hesitated, leaning towards the brink of my mattress. “A birthday celebration? What’s it for?”

“It’s an enjoyment awards birthday celebration. Huge occasion. All the huge names will be there. It’s hosted each year for entertainers, musicians, actors—all of us. You must be there, Mia.”

I paused, feeling a pang of misunderstanding. “Anthony by no means referred to something like that to me.”

Noah sighed, a bit of frustration creeping into his voice. “That’s due to the fact he doesn’t want you around, Mia. He desires to manipulate your exposure, who you meet, and who you connect to. Come to consider it, you’re the only one making Anthony the biggest money in the enterprise proper now. He knows that. He just doesn’t want you to realize it.”

The truth in Noah’s words hit me hard. He wasn’t incorrect. Anthony always saved me isolated, under the guise of being defensive; however, the fact was he didn’t want me to know my worth outside of him. I had come to be his puppet, and whenever I tried to step out of that position, he pulled the strings tighter.

I sighed. “I bet you’re proper. He always acts like he’s trying to hold me secure, but it’s starting to feel extra like manipulation.”

Noah’s voice softened. “Exactly. You need to start considering yourself, Mia. You’ve been living in his shadow for too long. You’re a star on your very own, and you also need to step into the spotlight for yourself. Not for him.”

There was something in Noah’s phrases that stirred something deep inside me—a sense of riot, a desire to interrupt loose from the existence I have been trapped in for too long.

“I don’t even realize what that seems like anymore,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “I’ve been stuck in this cycle for so long. It’s like I’ve forgotten how to stay for myself.”

Noah’s voice was corporation, however type. “That’s why I’m here. I want to help you locate that part of yourself again. I want you to be glad, Mia. To be free. And this birthday party is just the beginning. You deserve to be there, mingling with people who admire you for who you are, no longer because of who you’re married to.”

His words settled over me like a warm blanket, wrapping across the bloodless, numb part of my heart that had been aching for far too long.

“Alright,” I said after a second. “I’ll pass.”

Noah’s smile was almost audible through the smartphone. “Good. I need you to dress just like the pop famous person that you are, Mia. You’re going to show heads. I’ll update you on the venue and info as quickly as I have them.”

I couldn’t assist; however, smile at his enthusiasm. “I’ll do my satisfactory.”

We talked for a bit longer, Noah going on about how first-rate the event would be and how he couldn’t wait to see me there. It felt like a breath of sparkling air to be speaking about something aside from the chaos of my existence at home.

After we hung up, I stood with the aid of the window, looking out at the dark sky, feeling an extraordinary experience of wish for the first time in the long term. I knew Anthony wouldn’t be happy about me going; however, at this factor, I didn’t care. I wanted this. I needed to step out of the jail I had been dwelling in and discover myself once more.

The relaxation of the week surpassed in a blur of rehearsals and anxiety. Anthony had been distant, his awareness simply on Olivia and their drawing close infant. It didn’t depend on me anymore. I had my plans, my existence to reflect on consideration.

The day of the party arrived, and I stood in front of the mirror, dressed in a graceful, shape-becoming robe that shimmered underneath the light. It became bold, bold—the whole thing I hadn’t been allowed to be in my marriage. My hair changed into style to perfection, and my make-up made me feel just like the star Noah kept telling me I would become.

As I turned to place the finishing touches on my appearance, there was a knock on the door. I opened it to discover Anthony standing there, his face tight with suspicion.

“Where are you going?” he asked, his eyes scanning my outfit.

“I have an occasion,” I stated, my tone flat.

“An occasion?” Anthony’s brow furrowed. “What event? I didn’t timetable whatever for you tonight.”

I crossed my hands, feeling the anxiety construct. “No, you didn’t. Noah invited me to an entertainment awards birthday celebration. I’m going with him.”

Anthony’s jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with anger. “You’re going with Noah? Mia, are you serious? You’re going to embarrass me like this?”

I set free a bitter snigger. “Embarrass you? Anthony, I’m not your property. I can move wherein I want, with whom I need.”

Anthony stepped nearer, his voice losing to a risky whisper. “You assume you can just waltz into a party with Noah and make a fool out of me? You’re my spouse, Mia. You have responsibilities.”

I stared at him, feeling the load of his management urgently down on me like a suffocating blanket. But this time, I wasn’t going to allow him to pull me again in.

“No, Anthony,” I stated, my voice regular. “I’m now not simply your wife. I’m more than that. And this night, I’m going to remind myself of that.”

As I reached for the door, Anthony’s grip tightened around my wrist, yanking me lower again violently. The sharp jolt sent a ripple of ache through my arm, and I set free a startled scream. “Let me pass!” I shouted, my voice shaking with anger and worry.

Anthony’s face modified into twisted fury, his eyes wild as he glared down at me. “You assume you could just stroll out of right here?” he growled. “I won't. I can help you embarrass me like this.”

Before I must reply, Evelyn all at once regarded the top of the steps, her voice cutting through the anxiety. “What goes on proper here? Anthony, permit her to move!” she demanded, her eyes flashing with anger.
