C16 This Thirst Is Not the Same Thirst

A smart woman knows when to avoid trouble, and Liang Han clearly remembered the last time she crossed Gu Qisheng. Admitting her mistake was the wisest choice.

Seeing this, Gu Qisheng still shook his head with a stern expression, clearly unsatisfied with her apology.

Liang Han looked up with a charming smile and said, "Honey, I know I was wrong. I'll make sure we get along well from now on."

Gu Qisheng's icy demeanor melted instantly, his eyes locked onto Liang Han's flushed, delicate face. Their eyes met, and the atmosphere between them grew subtly charged with each breath.

Liang Han, still parched from last night's drinking, swallowed awkwardly. This action drew a curious smile from Gu Qisheng.

"Are you that thirsty?"

Without hesitation, Liang Han nodded, "Thirsty!"

However, she soon realized the double meaning of his words, just as his gentle lips silenced her protest.

Her eyes widened as she tried to push him away, but Gu Qisheng remained unmoved, wrapping an arm around her slender waist.

"Sir, the hangover soup you requested..."

Steward Liu, responsible for attending to Gu Qisheng's needs, paused at the scene, quickly turning away before finishing his sentence.

Liang Han immediately pushed Gu Qisheng away, her face turning crimson with embarrassment. Though she had lived here for quite some time, it was the first time a servant had caught them in such an intimate moment, making her feel extremely awkward.

Gu Qisheng, however, remained unfazed and casually turned his head, saying, "Bring it in!"

After placing the hangover soup on the table, Steward Liu hurriedly left, eager not to disturb their private moment.

Liang Han sniffed the steaming soup and muttered under her breath, "Smells like vinegar!"

Gu Qisheng shot her a cold glare, prompting Liang Han to quickly grab the soup from the nightstand and take a big spoonful.

A deafening yelp filled the room as Liang Han, eager to finish the soup and leave, forgot it was scalding hot. She stuck out her tongue, trying to cool it down, and fanned herself with her hand. But when she noticed Gu Qisheng watching her with amusement, she immediately stopped, pursing her lips in silence.

Seeing her endure the pain with her lips red and swollen, Gu Qisheng snatched the bowl from her hands, feigning disdain as he said, "Clumsy!"

Liang Han widened her eyes and retorted, "You're the clumsy one! Your whole family is clumsy!"

Qisheng picked up a spoon, carefully blew on the soup, and said, "It's true, the women in my family are the clumsiest. They can even burn themselves drinking soup."

As he spoke, he brought the cooled soup to Liang Han's lips, but she still pouted and refused.

With a look of indulgence, Qisheng said, "I remember you just said we should get along. Besides, isn't it only right for a husband to feed his wife soup?"

Seeing how considerate and sweet Qisheng was, Liang Han's annoyance faded a bit. She furrowed her brows and reluctantly drank the soup. As it went down, the urge to gag subsided noticeably, thanks to the sobering effect of the soup.

"Qisheng, you're right. Since we're in a marriage of convenience, there's no need to make things difficult for each other. Let's fulfill our promises during the term of our agreement and put on a good show for my grandfather. And from now on, I won't bother with your affairs outside. Whoever you choose to be with is none of my concern."
