C2 Why Don't You Beg Me?

Qisheng furrowed his brow even tighter. Was this girl giving him orders? He glanced up at Anqi across the room, noticing she was also looking his way. A mischievous thought crossed his mind as he decided to tease Liang Han. With a slight smirk, he spoke in a low, mocking tone, "Rumor has it the Liang family isn't big on family ties. Seems like the rumors are true."

Anqi was taken aback, not quite grasping Qisheng's meaning, and forced a smile. "Why bring that up all of a sudden?"

Qisheng raised his head, eyebrows arched, and looked at Liang Han, whose expression had slightly changed. With a hint of amusement, he continued, "Otherwise, why wouldn't sisters even say hello when they meet?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Anqi quickly turned to look at Liang Han. Upon recognizing her face, a look of disdain appeared in her eyes. She had just been wondering which clueless waitress dared to flirt with Qisheng, only to realize it was her own cousin, the so-called "vixen."

Liang Han hadn't expected Qisheng to expose her like that. She stared at him, and after three seconds, she suddenly brushed her hair back and turned around, her smile bright. "Hi, Ms. Anqi! I didn't expect to see you here! And—"

She turned back, still smiling at Qisheng, and tentatively added, "Brother-in-law?"

Upon hearing those words, the smile slowly faded from Qisheng's face, replaced by a cold, warning look in his eyes.

Anqi was visibly displeased, but she was quite satisfied with Han's way of addressing her. Plus, she needed to maintain a facade of warmth and kindness in front of Qisheng. So, she feigned concern and looked at Han, “Han, what are you doing here dressed like that?”

Han glanced down at her outfit, suddenly realizing, “Oh, right. Things have been rough for me lately, so I’ve had to work nights as a waitress.”

Hearing this, Anqi couldn't help but feel a bit smug and responded with feigned sympathy, “Why didn’t you ask me for help if you were out of work? We’re both from the same family, I wouldn’t just stand by and—”

“I’m actually here to ask for your help, Ms. Anqi.”

Han interrupted, tilting her head with a smile, “If you really want to help, why not introduce me to some modeling gigs? I’ve upset a big shot recently, and I've lost a lot of work!”

As she spoke, she glanced sideways at the “big shot” himself, her eyes carrying a hint of accusation.

Han currently worked as a model. Although she wasn’t very popular, her unforgettable looks allowed her to land various jobs, providing a decent income. However, lately, her jobs had either been canceled or reduced to non-visible roles.

The real troublemaker here is Qisheng, acting all erratic and inexplicably blacklisting her. After that, he just vanished, leaving Han with no choice but to take this desperate measure—working at a restaurant he frequents to confront him.

Anqi never expected Han to make such a bold request right there on the spot. She was just being polite in front of Qisheng. After all, it's been five years since Han left the family after her parents passed away and went abroad for school. They rarely saw each other. Later, Anqi heard Han got married to a man who wasn’t particularly successful, which was a relief. Han’s striking looks always made Anqi uneasy when they stood side by side.

But she never imagined Han would suddenly show up here.

The restaurant fell silent for a few seconds, as if waiting for someone to speak. Qisheng slowly lifted his head, a hint of amusement in his eyes as he looked at Han.

“Our company does have plenty of work for models. Instead of asking your cousin for help, Miss Liang, why not just—ask me?”
