C20 Let's Get a Divorce
Liang Han had promised not to interfere in Gu Qisheng's affairs with other women, and this time she kept her word. After wrapping herself in a blanket, she handed the phone to Gu Qisheng.
Gu Qisheng noticed her silence and indifferent attitude, which made his expression even darker. After all, they were married! Even if Liang Han didn't like him, it was hard to believe she could remain so unaffected by another woman calling him in the middle of the night.
It seemed her heart was only with her college senior.
On the other end, Liang Anqi's gentle voice came through, "Qisheng, are you listening?"
"I'm here. Get some good sleep. Good night," Gu Qisheng replied, his voice unusually gentle—something Liang Han had rarely heard from him.
Inside, Liang Han was a storm of emotions, but she forced a smile and said, "I can handle the rest of the medicine myself. I know it's awkward to talk in front of me. Go ahead and enjoy your call."
With that, she took the bottle from Gu Qisheng's hand and, wrapped in her blanket, walked confidently into the bathroom. He didn't see the emptiness and dimness in her eyes as she turned away.
Gu Qisheng's hands fell to his sides, and after a moment, he turned and left decisively.
Overnight, Liang Han's skin transformed from bumpy to smooth and fair, all thanks to the special medication prescribed by the doctor Gu Qisheng had brought in. Standing in front of the mirror, Liang Han held her face in disbelief, a smile spreading across her lips.
Everyone loves beauty, and Liang Han was no exception. Just last night, she had dreamt of scars marring her face, with Gu Qisheng finding her ugly and suggesting a divorce to marry someone else. But reality proved the dream wrong, as today her beauty was fully restored.
In high spirits, Liang Han applied meticulous makeup and donned a lovely pink dress, ready to head out and prepare a grand gift. Her quick recovery was due to both the doctor's expertise and Gu Qisheng's timely care the previous night.
As night fell and the city lights began to twinkle, Liang Han looked at the table full of dishes she had cooked herself, along with a carefully prepared cake, her face glowing with happiness. The timing was just right; if she guessed correctly, Gu Qisheng would return home around eight, as usual, leaving half an hour until he finished work.
Sitting on the living room sofa, Liang Han occasionally glanced at her phone. Her bright eyes gradually dimmed as the minutes ticked by.
The message she sent to Qisheng felt like it vanished into thin air, with no response in sight. Before she knew it, it was already midnight. Frustrated, she stormed into the dining room and started devouring the spread of dishes laid out on the table.
Even though the food was delicious, it tasted bitter to her, yet she forced herself to eat more than half of it. When your heart feels empty, sometimes food can fill the void. At least being full might stop the mind from wandering too much.
Her phone chimed with a notification, and Liang Han eagerly picked it up, hoping it was a reply from Qisheng. Instead, she was met with a gut-wrenching news article. The photo clearly showed a man and a woman sharing a sweet kiss in front of a candlelit cake.
Just as Liang Han, feeling devastated, was about to put down her phone, a message from Qisheng popped up.
"Let's get a divorce."
