C18 Chapter 17: Confused

Alexus Point of View :

"Did you and Nicole get back together?" I ignored Felix's question. I went straight to the bar counter to get some wine.

"Alexus, I'm asking you." I glared at Felix before I gulped down the half glass of wine I had poured into the glass.

"So what?" I said seriously before I gulped again the wine I had poured into the glass I was holding.

"Didn't she cheated on you?" He added. I smiled first before I answered his question.

"I cheated on her too, so, we're even." I said staring at Felix.

"How about Sofia?" I was stunned. I looked at Felix for a moment. I couldn’t read the emotion in his eyes. He's really good at hiding emotions. Eventually, I just avoided looking at him before speaking.

"We're done." I sparingly answer.

"What do you mean?" He kept asking questions.

"We're done. No more about us," I said without looking at him.

"Is that so? You didn't have an agreement right away? What's wrong with Sofia?" He sounds angry why asking me those questions.

"What do you care Felix? Yes, you're a friend but I hope you know your limits. Don't interfere with my personal decision, okay? Besides, why are you doing that?" I dropped the glass I was holding. I don’t know what Felix wants to convey in the kind of questions he has.

"Why am I acting like this? It's because of her — I love Sofia!" I seemed deaf to what he said. I adjusted my seat and faced him.

"W-what?" I asked in disbelief.

"I fell in love with her. Alexus I love the woman you hurt, the woman you ignored!" I don’t know what to say. I just stared at Felix. Until now, I still don't want to process the things he admitted in my brain.

"Y-you love her?" I repeated.

"I do—" I never let him finish speaking. I just found myself already punching him.

"How could you? How could you fell in love with my wife?" I angrily asked him. I'm not just angry, I'm furious.

"Your wife?" I was shocked after Felix laughed at me.

"Alexus wake up! She's not your wife! The wedding is fake, everything was fake between you and her!" I lost myself again because of what he said. I punched him again. I punched him, another punch, until I punched him one after another — but I was stunned because he didn't fight back.

"What's going on here?" That was Calvin's voice. He was shocked. Maybe it's because this is the first time we've been hurt — no, I've hurt Felix physically.

"Felix ..." Dylan came next. They approached Felix together. Meanwhile, they both think badly of me.

"What's wrong with you Alexus? Why did you do it to Felix?" Dylan's question was serious and unbelievable. I did not speak. I slowly raised my fist which is still clenched until now. It was bloody, Felix's blood was on my fist. I returned my gaze to my three friends. Just like the first time they looked at me, they still looked bad — they hated what I had done.

"He's just drunk." I turned my gaze to Felix. Even though I hit him he was still able to defend me in two.

"He's just not to himself so don't look at him badly. You two really are," he stood up and adjusted himself then approached me.

"Let's talk tomorrow." he whispered before he finally left. I was speechless. Next to come out of the bar was Calvin.

Dylan and I were left. I remembered that he owned this bar.

"Haist. Why did you fought Felix?" He asked. I turned to face him.

"I know there's a reason why you hurt him. I know you Alexus." He added.

“He told me that he’s in love with my wife,” I said.

"He's in love with Nicole?" His questioning eyes widened. He also helps me to sit in the nearest seat, in the seat I occupied earlier.

"—No. He's in love with Sofia." Dylan's eyes widened suddenly.

"Are you angry because Felix is

in love with Sofia? Eh, isn't it just a contract between you and Sofia? She's not your wife, bro! She's just your fake — wife ..."

"If she's not my wife, then why am I so angry with Felix? No! She's my wife Dylan. I wouldn't hurt Felix like that if I wasn't married to Sofia, right? Because Felix is

my friend...I shouldn't be affected by what he admitted but why am I angry? I am so angry— "

"You're in love with her, aren't you?" I seemed to be awakened by what Dylan had said.

"I'm in love with her? No!" I denied.

"Yes, you are." He insisted.

"Nicole should be the only one I love. She's the only—" I said.

"Admit it already bro. You're in love with Sofia. But wait, why did you chose Nicole and not her?" That question is too difficult. I don't know how I should answer it. If I really need to answer him.

"I promised to her ... that she's the woman I wanted to marry and to be with until the rest of my life." I said.

"That's it! You chose her because you promised. You chose her because you wanted to fulfill your promise. I understand you — but the question is, are you happy?"

"I do ..." I replied hesitantly.

"No, you aren't." He's blocking me again.

"If you're still really happy with Nicole, why can't you accept that Felix also loves Sofia? Don't tell me you're becoming selfish like Nicole?" He said laughing.

"Excuse me?" I can’t accept what he said, that I am becoming selfish too. I am not selfish. I just want to keep my promise. I don’t want to disappoint Nicole.

"Nevermind. If I were you, if you don't want Felix to take her away from you. Be a man. Do what is right, what will make you and the woman you love happy." He advised me.

"Look, Sofia's hurting because of you. We both know that you're hurting inside because you can't be with the woman you really love — right?" After what Dylan said he left me as well. If before I was just confused. Now, I'm in a mess. I don't know what's right — wrong, I know what's right but I can't hurt Nicole. I don’t want to hurt Nicole.
