'Hames, she's not a baby, she can be by herself.' My inner mind (if that's a thing) said to me.

"Aren't you leaving?" She stared at me again with bored eyes.

Without a word, I turned around and took my leave. Mom hadn't stopped calling. The call ended but she called again almost immediately
