C5 Drank too Much

Soong Qingwan patiently explained:

"You see, the class officers for university are chosen today, and they'll serve for the entire four years. They enjoy certain 'privileges' over the regular students."

She put special emphasis on the word 'privileges' before continuing,

"Also, making a good first impression on the counselor is crucial. If you can build a strong rapport with them, it'll make your university life much smoother."

Lin Chen was mildly taken aback. There was so much he hadn't known as a freshman.

With a smile, he said, "Thanks for the heads-up, senior. But I value my freedom, so I'll pass on being a class officer. I'm not one for special treatment."

Soong Qingwan gave Lin Chen a surprised look.

These days, it seemed everyone was eager to be in charge.

Especially those in the Student Council, who acted as if a little authority put them above the rules.

Truth be told, Soong Qingwan had little patience for such attitudes.

Lin Chen, however, exuded a Zen-like vibe, always appearing unruffled.

She wondered what it would take to ruffle his feathers...

Feeling Soong Qingwan's intense stare, Lin Chen felt uneasy.

"Senior, is there something on my face?"

"Hmm? Oh?"

Soong Qingwan quickly looked away, her cheeks warming. "No, nothing at all..."

To break the awkward silence, she reached for a drink nearby.

It was only after she finished it that she realized it was fruit wine with a potent kick.

Her unexpected reaction left Lin Chen somewhere between amusement and concern.

Then, a blush spread rapidly across Soong Qingwan's face.

Lin Chen hadn't anticipated her low tolerance; a few glasses of mild fruit wine and she was visibly affected.

Seeing her flushed cheeks, Lin Chen shook his head, resigned.

"Senior, can you manage? Let me walk you back."

"Uh? Yeah, that'd be good..."

As Soong Qingwan stood up, she wobbled and nearly fell, but Lin Chen's quick reflexes saved her from a tumble to the floor.

Soong Qingwan quickly straightened up, feeling her cheeks warm with a flush of embarrassment.

"Th-thank you..."

She murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

She instantly regretted her decision to drink so much. Luckily, she was with Lin Chen, a true gentleman...

Had it been anyone else, she dreaded to think what might have happened.

With this thought, her gratitude towards Lin Chen deepened.

Lin Chen, on the other hand, wasn't dwelling on the situation. Seeing Soong Qingwan's flushed face, he was intent on getting her home safely before returning to his Water and Clouds Villa.

"Senior, you don't look like you can make it much further on your own. May I assist you?"

Soong Qingwan, mortified, gave a small nod:

"Yes, I'd appreciate that... sorry for the trouble."

"It's no trouble at all."

With that, Lin Chen took Soong Qingwan by the arm and guided her out.

After settling the bill, Lin Chen hailed a cab and escorted Soong Qingwan back to East Sea University.

Known as the campus belle, Soong Qingwan had no shortage of admirers at East Sea University, yet none had won her over.

As Lin Chen supported Soong Qingwan through the campus, they inevitably drew curious glances.

"Hey! Isn't that Soong Qingwan, the campus belle? Who's that with her? Could he be her boyfriend?"

"Didn't the School Beauty Soong declare she wouldn't date during her time at university?"

"Alas! To think that my idol has been swept off her feet while I was none the wiser..."
