C5 My Woman Is Someone You Can Touch

Ruan Ruan felt a pinch from his hand, and suddenly her thoughts scattered.

The man seemed to realize his action was somewhat odd, so he withdrew his hand as if nothing had occurred.

"What's your name?" Ruan Ruan inquired, breaking the uncomfortable silence.

"Dan Hengmo," the man replied.

A gentleman like jade, a name as radiant as a feathered robe – such a beautiful name for a murderer. Ruan Ruan felt it was unjust for a name to be burdened so.

Yet, his visage truly lived up to the name.

Ruan Ruan suspected that this might not be his real name. In their line of work, names were often mere aliases, and he might go by a different one with the next person. But why did this name ring a bell? It seemed she had heard a similar name before.

Still, having a name to call him was preferable to referring to him as a murderer.

A knock sounded at the door, followed by Yuh Jinnian calling out for Ruan Ruan.

Dan Hengmo looked at Ruan Ruan and offered, "Do you need my help?" From her expression, he was certain that the man outside was her former boyfriend.

Ruan Ruan shook her head; she wasn't ready to face Yuh Jinnian. Just the sight of him would bring back the memories of yesterday's events in Room 502, reminding her of their betrayal.

Dan Hengmo wasn't one to interfere unnecessarily. Seeing that she declined his offer, he remained silent.

"Ruan Ruan, if you don't open the door, I'll have someone break the lock," Yuh Jinnian bellowed from the other side, devoid of any shame a betrayer should possess.

Ruan Ruan remained silent, her head bowed as tears welled in her eyes.

She and Yuh Jinnian had started dating in college, with him pursuing her first. Back then, she couldn't have imagined that Yuh Jinnian was genuinely interested in her.

Though Yuh Jinnian couldn't compare to the enchanting man before her, he was still more handsome than many ordinary guys and even some celebrities. He had a soft, jade-like demeanor that exuded a unique sense of security at a glance.

The nostalgia for bygone days felt like a cruel irony.

"Ruan Ruan, listen to me. Things aren't as you imagine," Yuh Jinnian's voice softened as his knocking on the door subsided.

Ruan Ruan closed her eyes, and despite her resolve not to cry, tears still managed to escape. Why did they continue to fall?

Dan Hengmo stood, pulling her to her feet, his hand resting on her waist. "No more tears," he commanded. His other hand awkwardly wiped away her tears, seemingly the first time he had ever done so for a girl.

Holding her waist, Dan Hengmo walked to the door and opened it. He wasn't one to get involved in others' affairs, but Ruan Ruan's tears had ignited a fiery irritation within him, filling him with an inexplicable anger.

Yuh Jinnian's smile appeared as the door swung open, a smile that usually graced the face of a charming young noble, as refreshing as a gentle breeze.

Upon seeing Dan Hengmo, his smile seized up. He had never encountered this man before, a man whose presence was so commanding that it instilled a sense of fear in him.

"Ruan Ruan, who is this?" Yuh Jinnian inquired, eyeing the hand on Ruan Ruan's waist.

Ruan Ruan was at a loss for words. She opened her mouth but ultimately remained silent. Was his tone accusatory?

Dan Hengmo's smile was distant, regal as if he were a sovereign bestowing a favor with a mere grin.

"Ruan Ruan, tell him who I am to you," Dan Hengmo said, gazing down at her with affection. His voice was tender. He seemed more suited to be an actor than an assassin.

Yuh Jinnian watched Dan Hengmo, who used such an endearing nickname for Ruan Ruan. He was itching to remove the hand that lay possessively on her waist.

With a clenched jaw, Ruan Ruan made up her mind. She was determined to sever all ties with him, no longer caring about the reasons.

Having grown up in a single-parent household, Ruan Ruan despised betrayal above all else. Her father had abandoned them for another woman.

Whether it was physical or emotional infidelity, she found it repulsive.

Ruan Ruan looked at him, managing a smile that wasn't quite radiant, tinged with a hint of bitterness. "Did you think you're the only one who could find someone else? This is my new boyfriend. We're done. Don't come looking for me anymore. I wouldn't want my boyfriend to get the wrong idea." They had once vowed to never part, to always stay together.

Yuh Jinnian clutched at Ruan Ruan's clothes, pleading, "Ruan Ruan, remember how we promised never to leave each other? Have you forgotten?" His desperation nearly melted her resolve.

Dan Hengmo swatted his hand away, declaring, "She's not someone you can touch." His tone was quiet yet imperious.

Ruan Ruan dismissed it as an act, not taking his words seriously.

"When did the two of you get together?" Yuh Jinnian demanded, his voice laced with anger. His eyes were weary, rimmed with red, and his chin was unshaven.

He had always been meticulous about his appearance, never allowing himself to be seen with even a hint of stubble.

"What does it matter to you? You and I are over," Ruan Ruan said, leaning on Dan Hengmo for support. Simple words, yet they caused her heart immense pain. Three years of love couldn't just be severed or forgotten on a whim.

Yuh Jinnian, in disbelief, accused, "Ruan Ruan, you're just doing this to upset me, aren't you?"

Ruan Ruan was speechless. Yuh Jinnian was her greatest love; in his presence, her fortitude crumbled. Without Dan Hengmo there, she wouldn't have been able to maintain such a composed facade.

She couldn't say who loved more in their relationship, but she knew her love for Yuh Jinnian was once so deep she would have done anything for him. That was, of course, before his betrayal.

"Upset you? You're not worth that effort," Dan Hengmo said coolly, his voice devoid of emotion, as cold-blooded as a snake.

Yuh Jinnian didn't pay any attention to Dan Hengmo or heed his words. His gaze was fixed solely on Ruan Ruan, confident that she would remain steadfast.

"Yuh Jinnian, I appreciate all the kindness you've shown me, but now it's suffocating me. Please, I'm begging you to leave my world," Ruan Ruan pleaded, wringing her clothes in distress.

The thought of her asking him to exit her life was inconceivable. She was his entire world. Without Ruan Ruan, Yuh Jinnian was at a loss for what he would do. The thought of being ill without her warm, soft hands to care for him, of not hearing her crisp voice or being able to embrace her when he was upset, was unbearable.

Ruan Ruan longed to rush forward and embrace Yuh Jinnian, to have him reassure her that all of this was just a terrible dream.

Dan Hengmo felt an unexpected tightness in his chest. There she was, in his arms, yet her attention was on another man. He realized he had subconsciously started to think of her as his own.

Uh... Ruan Ruan's eyes widened as she stared at the handsome face before her. He had kissed her without asking. This wasn't how acting was supposed to go!

Ruan Ruan had been kissed before, but Dan Hengmo's kiss was fervent, almost as if he was trying to fuse her into his being.

Ruan Ruan bit down hard, refusing to allow Dan Hengmo's tongue to invade her mouth. Her kisses with Yuh Jinnian had always been light, never with such intensity.

Yuh Jinnian, standing before them, balled his hands into fists and swung at Dan Hengmo. Dan Hengmo's eyes turned dark as he released Ruan Ruan and caught Yuh Jinnian's incoming punch with ease, twisting it until a bone-crushing sound filled the air.
