C12 Leave Moyan!
Jieyu slowly approached Yifan, clenching her fists so tightly that her sharp nails dug into her palms, causing a sting of pain. Her eyes flashed with a fierce determination. She released her grip, revealing clear imprints on her palm. Her slightly warm fingertips brushed against Yifan's pale cheek.
Inside, she was screaming to herself, "Scratch it! Then Moyan won't look at her twice."
"What are you doing?" Anan exclaimed, entering the hospital room with a cup of water just in time to witness Jieyu's menacing demeanor. Her heart raced with fear, thinking about what might have happened if she had arrived a moment later. How could this family be so cruel? Even with Yifan gravely injured, they still wanted to hurt her more.
Jieyu withdrew her hand and looked at Anan with feigned innocence, softly saying, "There was some dirt on my sister's face, and I was just cleaning it off. You must be Anan; I've heard about you from my sister. She says you're her best friend."
Anan wasn't fooled. Recognizing the typical facade of a manipulative person, she gave a nonchalant "hmm" and stood by Yifan's side, relieved to see her friend's face unharmed. Only then did she ask, "What are you doing here?"
"I heard my sister was seriously injured and admitted to the hospital, so I came to check on her," said Gu Jieyu, feigning the role of a caring sister. Tang Anan could barely suppress her disgust; this woman was so fake. If she truly cared, she'd stop her parents from hurting Yifan.
As they spoke, Yifan stirred awake, her eyes meeting Tang Anan's disdainful gaze.
What happened?
"Sis, you're awake!" Gu Jieyu's voice was filled with fake joy, though she secretly wished Yifan would just disappear. The injured Yifan winced at the sound, her brow furrowing in pain.
Understanding her friend's discomfort, Tang Anan quickly covered Yifan's ears and scolded, "This is a hospital room, keep your voice down."
Gu Jieyu stammered awkwardly, "I was just so happy to see her awake."
"Happy? You can't stand to see Yifan getting better!" Tang Anan had no qualms about calling out Gu Jieyu's insincerity.
Gu Jieyu's face flushed with embarrassment, unable to counter Tang Anan's straightforwardness.
After a moment, Yifan signaled for Tang Anan to let go. She looked at Gu Jieyu with calm indifference. "So, why are you really here? If it was just to see me, you've done that. You can leave now, and please don't come back. This is a public place, and you wouldn't want rumors about the mayor's daughter getting into fights, would you?"
Gu Yifan was already aware of the online chatter and felt at ease. She had nothing to fear from someone like Gu Jieyu, who was so concerned about her own high status.
Gu Jieyu was the one who should be worried about her image taking a hit, just like Lee Xue.
Seeing the situation, Gu Jieyu dropped the pretense of being delicate. She stepped forward, closed the hospital room door, and then turned around, revealing her true intentions.
“What’s your relationship with Moyan?”
There was a wild look in Gu Jieyu’s eyes. She was on the verge of losing it. It had been a week since she married Moyan, and he hadn’t touched her once. On their wedding night, he was supposedly too drunk to respond to any of her advances, and since then, he’d been using work and overtime as excuses.
Thinking about Yifan’s claim of being pregnant, even if it was a fake pregnancy, it meant she had been with Moyan. Meanwhile, as his legal wife, she hadn’t experienced any of the joys of being newly married.
This forced her to confront Yifan to get to the bottom of everything.
Yifan’s expression didn’t change as she calmly replied, “There’s nothing between us.”
Of course, Gu Jieyu didn’t believe her. She cast a disdainful glance at Yifan lying in the hospital bed. “You’re being kept by Moyan, aren’t you? I saw you wearing a D.R. dress that day. How could you afford such an expensive outfit, unless...”
"I said there's nothing between us." Yifan interrupted Jieyu impatiently. Moyan had already made it clear on stage that there was no relationship between them. Over the past few days, Yifan had come to terms with this, so no matter what Jieyu said, Yifan stood firm—there was truly nothing between them.
Jieyu couldn't quite believe it. To be sure, she pulled out a check and tossed it lightly onto the bed. "Here's a hundred thousand dollars. Please stay out of Moyan's sight from now on."
A hundred thousand dollars.
Huh.
Jieyu, the daughter of the mayor and wife of the wealthiest man in the city, thought she could brush her off with just a hundred grand. Didn't she find that a bit cheap?
Sensing Yifan's thoughts, Jieyu sneered, "I know what you're thinking, but everyone has their price. If you weren't connected to Gu, you wouldn't even be worth ten thousand."
"Oh?" Yifan replied coolly, "So, does that mean you're worth a hundred thousand too?"
Jieyu's eyes gleamed with pride as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "My worth is beyond your imagination. Moyan promised to give me shares in Hsu's Group. After all, I am the legitimate Mrs. Hsu."
Yifan murmured a quiet acknowledgment, pulling her blanket up to cover her shoulders, finally feeling a hint of warmth. She closed her eyes, weary. "Then please, Mrs. Hsu, leave my little hospital room. It can't accommodate someone as grand as you."
"Let's go, Mrs. Hsu!" Tang Anan chimed in immediately, drawing out the "Hsu" with exaggerated emphasis, glaring at Gu Jieyu.
Gu Jieyu had never been treated like this before, and she was so furious that she trembled slightly, pointing her pale fingers at the two of them. "You two are unbelievable. Whether you want that million dollars or not, don't ever see Moyan again! Or I'll make sure your reputations are ruined!"
The only response to Gu Jieyu was the silence of the hospital room, where the two continued with their own activities.
Stomping her foot in frustration, Gu Jieyu angrily opened the door and stormed out.
The sharp sound of her footsteps gradually faded away. Tang Anan deliberately cracked the door open, peering into the hallway to ensure it was empty before returning to poke Gu Yifan. "She's gone. You can open your eyes now."
Gu Yifan remained motionless, eyes still closed as if asleep.
Tang Anan sighed. "Stop pretending. When you fake sleep, you keep your hands at your sides. When you're really asleep, they're on your stomach."
Gu Yifan's eyelashes fluttered slightly before she opened her eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Faced with her friend's lifeless demeanor, Tang Anan was at a loss for words to comfort her, and the room fell into silence.
