C16 Feng Shengtian
Just as Zack was about to head out with a stunning woman, he spotted his wife, the formidable "lioness," scanning the doorway with a fierce look. The sight sobered him up instantly.
The woman, still clueless about the situation, playfully brushed her delicate hand across Zack's chest and purred, "Zack, what's wrong?"
Zack cursed internally, thinking how oblivious she was. Regardless of whether she was genuinely naive or just pretending, he had to put on a show. With a serious expression, he pushed her away and scolded, "I'm a married man. Stop bothering me."
She was taken aback for a moment, then laughed, "Oh, Zack, you're so funny. How many men here aren't married? We're just talking about tonight."
"Enough, enough, stop with the nonsense," Zack snapped, impatiently shooing her away. He hoped she would leave quickly before his wife saw him tangled up with another woman.
The woman, now angry, grabbed Zack and couldn't help but shout, "How can you just use me and then pretend you don't know me? Do you think I'm that easy?"
Her shrill voice cut through the party noise like a needle, and the room fell silent, as if someone had hit the pause button.
Director Zhang's wife immediately looked over, and upon seeing the scene, she pushed through the crowd toward him with determination. Gu Yifan watched with keen interest, craning her neck to catch the unfolding drama between the three people.
"Enjoying the show?"
A smooth, deep voice suddenly asked from behind her.
Startled, Gu Yifan turned to see a man who appeared to be in his thirties. He had a refined demeanor and a gentle smile, unlike the others at the party whose eyes were filled with blatant desire, as if they wanted to strip someone bare right there.
Feng Shengtian found the woman in front of him intriguing. He had only come to this party to meet some of the city's elite but quickly realized it was just a gathering of bored, lustful people. Just as he was about to leave, he noticed a woman in the corner who seemed out of place. While everyone else mingled, seeking their prey, she exuded boredom yet watched the chaos with genuine interest. Little did she know, she was also a fascinating spectacle in his eyes.
"Who are you?" Gu Yifan searched her memory for any information about the man but found none, suggesting he was either not from the city or had just returned.
Feng Shengtian responded to Gu Yifan's question with a gentlemanly demeanor: "Hello, I'm Feng Shengtian. I just got back from the States, so it's understandable that you don't know me."
Gu Yifan suddenly recalled another company in the city, the Shengtian Group. Twenty-five years ago, Shengtian Group emerged out of nowhere, quickly capturing a quarter of the city's commercial territory. It was said that the power behind Shengtian was unimaginably vast, making it untouchable. Even the Hsu's Group had prepared to compete with Shengtian, but curiously, after its rapid rise, Shengtian's progress stalled. It's been five years now, and no one knows what Shengtian Group's plans are.
Hsu's Group couldn't figure it out either, but they kept a close watch on Shengtian.
So, what was the connection between Feng Shengtian and Shengtian Group?
"Are you with Shengtian Group?" Gu Yifan unconsciously took a step back, surprised at her own reaction. Wasn't she here to find someone to counter Hsu's Group? Yet, faced with such a promising candidate, she instinctively retreated.
Feng Shengtian noticed her subtle movement, finding it amusing that she had guessed his connection to Shengtian but still stepped back.
He pulled a pale gold business card from the pocket of his suit and handed it to Gu Yifan. "I'm the newly appointed Chairman and General Manager of Shengtian."
“Ah—” Yifan drew a sharp breath. The man whose name included the prestigious "Shengtian" had effortlessly become the chairman. In A City, could anyone be more revered than Shengtian?
Yifan, both surprised and honored, accepted the business card. She rummaged through her purse, only to remember she hadn’t brought her own cards due to the radio station’s requirements.
After awkwardly withdrawing her hand, Yifan didn’t mind. She confidently extended her hand to Shengtian, “Hi, I’m Yifan.”
Shengtian gave her fingertips a polite shake before letting go. “Yifan, the mayor’s daughter.”
Yifan shrugged, “As much as I hate to admit it, yes, I am.”
“Ha, I didn’t expect you to really dislike Gu Changsheng. Coincidentally, neither do I,” Shengtian laughed heartily, making his stance clear.
This honesty earned him some goodwill from Yifan. They sat in a corner, chatting happily and occasionally bursting into laughter.
Unbeknownst to them, someone was watching them intently from the front left.
Is this woman so eager to find someone else to lean on?
Moyan had come to this party purely to find someone, but he hadn’t expected to see Yifan laughing and chatting with another man. He had never seen her smile so brightly.
Who exactly is that man?
“Hey, isn't that the chairman of Shengtian Group?” The person next to Hsu Moyan pointed towards the corner where Gu Yifan was, exclaiming in surprise. Their eyes sparkled with curiosity. Everyone knew about Shengtian Group, but no one had ever figured out who was behind it.
Hsu Moyan's gaze deepened as he asked directly, “Have you met the chairman of Shengtian?”
“No, but I've seen his photos before. His presence is unforgettable,” the person explained, recognizing Feng Shengtian. They then clicked their tongue in admiration, “I didn't expect him to become even more refined over the years.”
“Oh?” Hsu Moyan casually picked up a glass of red wine and confidently strode towards Feng Shengtian.
Gu Yifan was chatting with Feng Shengtian about some amusing experiences he had in the U.S. when she noticed the sudden shadow cast over them.
She looked up to see Hsu Moyan coldly raising his glass towards Feng Shengtian, “Hsu Moyan.”
In those three short words, Gu Yifan sensed Hsu Moyan's displeasure. Compared to his imposing presence, Feng Shengtian seemed remarkably composed.
“Feng Shengtian.”
The silent yet intense sparks flew between the two men.
Although Feng Shengtian had just returned to the city, he was well aware of the major happenings, such as the situation between Hsu Moyan and Gu Yifan.
While he didn't care about Yifan's past, it didn't mean he was okay with her continuing to interact with this man. The woman he was interested in could only be his, and he wouldn't allow anyone else to covet her.
