C73 Get Yourself Together and Set off
The conversation with Madam Ou caused me, who had just come out of the pain of losing my son, to once again fall into a depressed and unhappy state.
The next morning, Xuanzi came to my room: "Madam, Director Ou told me to bring you home, take a look and see if you need anything. Do you want to buy everything while we're on our way home?"
Xuanzi was very respectful to me, and compared to the first time I met him, the one who treated me as if I had been made to be porcelain, the one who spoke ill of me in an impatient manner was like a completely different person.
"No need, I've already packed up. Just go back." Xuan Zi pushed my luggage. I only carried my own bag and walked behind him. As I walked out, I attracted the attention of many people in the elevator. They probably thought that I was some rich young master.
It was lunchtime when we arrived at the Ou family's residence in B city. Perhaps because Ou Jia Rui had greeted the servants beforehand, I smelled the fragrance of food the moment I entered the door. A familiar warmth spread throughout my heart.
Unexpectedly, in the restaurant that was supposed to be empty, O'Jia Rui was waiting at the dining table in her homemade clothes.
I was a little surprised. "Why are you at home?"
"Why can't I be home?" Ou Jia Rui looked at me with a smile. When I was out of sight of the Ou family members, Ou Jia Rui returned to her previous appearance, making me feel as though the cold and estranged Ou Jia Rui in the hospital was just an illusion.
"I thought you were very busy these days and would be staying at the company."
"It's your first day home today, so I'll come back for a meal with you. I still need to go to Ou Family to take care of some matters later." As I sat down, she pulled out the chair beside me and said.
It had been a long time since I'd eaten a meal cooked by a servant of the Ou family. My appetite had grown much larger than usual, and O'Jia Rui was happy to serve me a meal.
"Ma'am, do I need to wash these items before I put them in your and mister's room?" the servant asked, picking up the suitcase Xuan Zi had left for me at the door of the living room.
I hesitated for a moment before I replied, "The nurses have already washed me when I was in the hospital. It's clean. You can just directly bring me to the guest room that I used to stay in."
Ou Jia Rui paused for a moment and asked with a questioning look in her eyes.
I pretended to be indifferent as I replied, "I haven't been sleeping well recently. I'm afraid that I won't be able to sleep even more when I'm alone."
Seeing that I didn't make a sound, Ou Jia Rui didn't ask any further questions and just let me go.
"You can go back to Ou Family to work when you've recovered more or less. You should get a good rest at home in the next few days." After dinner, O'Jia Rui was going to change his clothes and go to work, so she told me before she left.
"Alright."
For the next few days I stayed with the Ou family, Ojaru treated me with the same care as before, but he never mentioned a single Ou family member in front of me again. Madam Ou's words often popped up in my mind. Due to Ou Jia Rui's sudden change in topic, I was a little uncertain as to whether what she said was true or false.
Leaving my room all day long, I had nothing to do other than reading the news. In order to recover as soon as possible, I decided not to go to work at Euston, but browsed through a lot of recruitment information online and found that I didn't meet the requirements in terms of both academic qualifications and other conditions. A thought quietly sprouted in my mind.
That day, as usual, O'Jia Rui and I finished our breakfast and went to work at the Ou family.
After he left, I returned to my room, getting ready to dress up and go to Eustace to take care of my business. It was already late in the summer, and I had chosen a yellow dress with a fresh and clean make-up. I tied my long hair, which I hadn't cut short all winter, behind my head in order to cool it down.
When they walked out the door, many of the servants in the house felt their eyes light up, "Madam, this looks really like a young female university student. She's really beautiful. Her skin is white and her figure is good."
I pretended to rebuke her. "What do you mean 'like'? I'm not that old, I'm only in my twenties. Don't call me 'Madam' in the future, it sounds very old. Why don't you just call me 'Xin Yao' instead?"
After getting along for a long time, the servants naturally knew my temperament and called out to me with a smile.
Satisfied, I left the house, hit a taxi, and headed for Eustace.
Having rested at the hospital and the Ou Family for such a long time, I haven't been to the company in almost a month. It seems that nothing has changed greatly.
When I took the elevator to the top floor to look for O'Jia Rui, I realized I had changed my mind.
Although Euclidean staff have always been very efficient, when I passed the Secretariat I could not hear anything other than the tapping of keyboards and the interchange of jobs. They were meticulous before, but because of their ability to plan, even when they were at work, they appeared to be very relaxed.
But now, almost everyone had a solemn look on their face. The work before them was like a mountain pressing down on them, forcing them to work non-stop. It was as if everyone was constantly challenging the limits of their own efficiency and stamina.
It could be seen that the pressure that the Liang Group brought to the Ou Clan was indeed not to be underestimated. There was a reason why Ou Jia Rui was so busy with her work.
When I got to the CEO's office, I wanted to push open the door and go in, but I stopped when I remembered why I had come today, and I knocked on the door with all my strength.
"Come in." It was O'Jia Rui's voice. I pushed open the door and entered.
"Ah, you're here. Why are you knocking on the door, why are you here? Why are you here directly? What, do you feel like you've rested enough and want to return to the Ou Clan to work?" There was a rare look of weariness on Ou Jia Rui's face. "Recently, the working rhythm of the company has increased quite a bit. You might need some time to get used to it."
Ou Jia Rui, who seemed to have noticed my difference and was used to my casual attire at home, praised, "This dress of yours isn't bad, it suits you very well."
"Thank you." I lowered my head to my bag and pulled out the resignation letter I'd prepared earlier and handed it to the president.
When he saw the words on the envelope, he asked, "Why do you want to resign all of a sudden?" O'Jia Rui asked.
"Too many things have happened recently." "I need some time to adjust my state of mind. Otherwise, it would be hard for me to live a good life."
Ou Jia Rui, who didn't know that I had already met with Mrs Ou, thought that I was simply not out of depression from the incident of my miscarriage, "Then you should take a good rest at home for a while, and come back to work when you've adjusted your mood."
"No." I shook my head. "I wanted to change the environment. I recently checked the internet and found that I will be taking the graduate exam in a few months. I thought about it for a while and felt that I could enrich myself a bit more.
Actually, I hid the most important reason. Although promoting myself was also one of my goals, I wanted to be isomorphic for a period of time. I wanted to calm down, ponder over my relationship with Ou Jia Rui, and decide what to do next.
"What do you want to learn?" Ochira suddenly asked me.
"I've also thought about this before. Although I only do the work of planning and writing documents, I still need a certain level of cultural connotation to be able to excel at it. I want to continue studying Chinese literary history." When I was very young, I didn't have many people to play with. The only books that could accompany me were the ones my parents had left behind.
Although I didn't know much about the beauty of the law at the time, those books had kept me company through a lot of difficult times, but later on, in order to survive, I understood that feeling and taste were very extravagant things for me. Now, I want to take the opportunity to do what I like.
Ou Jia Rui pondered for a moment and asked, "What do you think about the B University's Chinese literature?"
"Very good. I can count them all in the country. I also have plans to study there. I just don't know if I can pass the exam." I'll be honest.
Ou Jia Rui sat back in her seat and used her computer to edit a short email, then said to me, "The Ou family invests in some promising universities every year, and B University is one of them. As one of the school directors, I recommend that you go there to study for a master's degree.
Naturally, there was nothing I wasn't willing to do.
It took less than ten minutes for Ou Jia Rui to receive a reply, "They've agreed. Next week you can bring your stuff to report to them there. You'll be studying in the first grade of the Master's degree and follow the best professor in the literature department."
I happily accepted the result and immediately did what I liked without any distractions. To me, it couldn't be any better. My mood immediately improved.
"Oh yeah, Ou Jia Rui. B is not close to home and I want to study, so I decided to rent an apartment while I was in school. "
"No, the apartment conditions are too bad. Even if you don't go home, at the very least, I'll buy you a house to live in at school." Without thinking, O'Jia Rui rejected my suggestion.
I was also very stubborn: "I'm going to study, so I can just live in an apartment. Besides, I've saved a lot of money from all these years of work, so I can rent my own house. You don't have to worry about that."
Ou Jia Rui and I argued about the place I would stay when I went to study until Ou Family's time to leave work at noon. Finally, we each took a step back.
"Okay, I agree to let you live in an apartment, but you have to let me choose. The furniture will have to be replaced and refurbished. Before the decorations are finished, Xuanzi will come to pick you up every day. " Ou Jia Rui took out her bottom line.
"Sure."
"But I can see you anytime. You don't object to that, do you?" Ou Jia Rui was still giving her conditions.
"Once a month."
"No, every three days."
"Once a week."
"Once a week."
"Deal." Ou Jia Rui was indeed a merchant. First, I had to come up with a condition that I couldn't accept, and then I would take out what I really wanted. When I realized that I had fallen into a trap, I had already made a weekly agreement with Ou Jia Rui.
