C1 The Strange Guy Who Went on a Blind Date

As Su Kexin stepped into the restaurant known as "Little Jiangnan," she couldn't help but feel a touch of surprise.

She was familiar with the reputation of Little Jiangnan, where a single dish could set you back a thousand yuan—a place where the wealthy dined extravagantly. She had never imagined that her blind date would choose such a lavish setting for their meeting.

It wasn't that she was unworldly; rather, this was her fifth blind date in as many months, and all her previous dates had been at more modest venues, including a coffee shop and even a KFC. The sudden shift to such an upscale environment was somewhat jarring.

Still, it suggested that her date was taking this seriously.

With that thought, Su Kexin smoothed out the wrinkles in her skirt from the bus ride and followed the beaming waiter inside.

The man she was meeting, Feng Zheng, had arrived a few minutes before her and was already seated, awaiting her arrival.

Truth be told, when Su Kexin laid eyes on him, despite her lack of high expectations, she couldn't suppress a twinge of disappointment.

His face was slightly oily, his hairline receding, and though he had donned a formal shirt for the occasion, it was creased, giving him a somewhat unkempt appearance.

But she had heard he was a researcher, and perhaps that accounted for his lack of sartorial polish. After all, a man should be judged by his character, not his appearance.

With this in mind, Su Kexin pushed aside her slight sense of letdown and greeted him with a warm smile before taking her seat.

"Miss Su, correct?" Feng Zheng seemed nervous, dabbing at his forehead with a tissue. "I'm Feng Zheng. It's a pleasure to meet you."

He extended his hand for a handshake.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Feng," Su Kexin replied, taking his hand, though the clamminess made her inwardly uncomfortable. Still, it wouldn't be polite to withdraw her hand abruptly.

"Miss Su, you're 26 this year, aren't you?" Feng Zheng, oblivious to Su Kexin's discomfort, released her hand and began poring over a stack of documents on the table. "At your age, if you're planning to marry soon, you should consider starting a family quickly."

Su Kexin glanced down and noticed that the person across from her was perusing her personal information, likely provided by the matchmaking agency.

Even though the details were all supplied by her, the way the other person scrutinized them as if reviewing a product left Su Kexin feeling somewhat uneasy. Yet, she chose not to comment, merely acknowledging with a noncommittal "Hmm."

The meal arrived promptly, featuring authentic and exquisite Jiangnan cuisine. Feng Zheng wasted no time, eagerly diving into the dishes while continuing to pore over Su Kexin's profile.

With Feng Zheng silent, Su Kexin sat there, the silence growing increasingly awkward. She was just about to break the ice when the sharp chorus of "Welcome" from the waitstaff behind her cut through the air.

Out of sheer boredom, Su Kexin turned to see who had entered the restaurant and found herself momentarily taken aback.

Describing his movement as "walking" didn't quite fit, as the man making his entrance was seated in a wheelchair.

Yet, it wasn't his mode of arrival that caught Su Kexin off guard—it was the man himself.

Clad in a simple white shirt that was clearly well-tailored to his lean and statuesque frame, he exuded an effortless elegance. Above the graceful lines of his collarbones sat a face so strikingly perfect it could take one's breath away. With his sharp brows and bright eyes, every feature seemed meticulously sculpted, leaving no room for imperfection. Even Su Kexin, who prided herself on never being starstruck, found herself momentarily mesmerized.
