C10 Are You Single??

Su Kexin's mind was a complete fog, and before she could gather her thoughts, Gu Chi offered them a faint smile. "Fashion Magazine? Please, have a seat."

She was still somewhat bewildered when Xiaomei, sitting beside her, gave her a nudge. "Kexin, what's gotten into you?"

Snapping back to reality, Su Kexin followed Xiaomei and the rest to take their seats on the couch.

Gu Chi wheeled himself over to them with deliberate slowness. Xiaomei, barely containing her excitement, inquired, "Director Gu, may we start the interview?"

"Go ahead." Gu Chi's demeanor remained detached, his gaze never once meeting Su Kexin's, as if they were strangers.

His distant manner left Su Kexin questioning whether this man was merely a doppelgänger of her new husband, Gu Chi.

"Um... Director Gu, you've been so enigmatic that people don't even know your name," Xiaomei ventured, her cheeks pink with nervousness. "Would you mind sharing it with us?"

"Gu Chi." The name flowed crisply from the man's lips, obliterating the last of Su Kexin's illusions.

Gu Chi.

It was indeed him.

Her husband, Gu Chi.

"Gu Chi, that's quite a lovely name," Ms. Zheng said with a hint of flattery. "We have a few questions for you, if that's alright."

With that, Ms. Zheng turned expectantly to Su Kexin, but noticing her continued daze, she grew impatient and gave her a discreet pinch.

"Yow!" Su Kexin yelped, jolted back to the moment.

The plan for today's interview had been for Su Kexin to lead, with Xiaomei and Ms. Zheng taking notes.

Meeting Ms. Zheng's disapproving look, Su Kexin steadied her racing heart and adopted a professional tone. "Director Gu, may I inquire if you're originally from S City?"

"Somewhat," Gu Chi replied, his composure a stark contrast to Su Kexin's earlier disarray. "I was born in S City, but moved to America when I was quite young."

Upon hearing his response, Su Kexin couldn't help but find the situation somewhat amusing. There she was, sitting across from her own newlywed husband, yet she knew nothing about him.

Nevertheless, they were at work, and Su Kexin quickly shelved her wandering thoughts to proceed with the interview, asking each question she had meticulously prepared.

The interview flowed without a hitch. Gu Chi, despite his aloof demeanor, was surprisingly cooperative, dispelling any previous notions of his standoffish reputation.

Gradually, Su Kexin became engrossed in the interview, momentarily forgetting that the man before her was, in fact, her new husband. But as her eyes landed on the next question, she found herself at a loss for words, and the office was enveloped in an awkward silence.

"Kexin, what's going on?" Xiaomei, ever observant, gave Su Kexin a gentle prod, snapping her back to reality. Su Kexin offered a sheepish smile in response.

"Apologies, Director Gu. This next question is somewhat personal, but I'm sure it's something many of our female readers are eager to know." Pushing aside the odd sensation in her chest, Su Kexin read from her prepared script without missing a beat, "Could you tell us... are you single?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, Su Kexin mentally kicked herself. What a ridiculous question to ask—she knew better than anyone about Gu Chi's relationship status. Yet with Xiaomei and Ms. Zheng present, she had to maintain her professional facade.

After posing the question, Su Kexin watched Gu Chi with bated breath. She couldn't tell if it was just her imagination, but for a fleeting second, she thought she saw a glimmer of amusement in his usually impassive eyes.

But the hint of a smile vanished as quickly as it appeared, leaving Su Kexin to question whether she'd imagined it.

"This question..." Gu Chi began deliberately, his voice enigmatic, "What's your take on it, Miss Journalist?"
