C13 Chasing after Him
Wen Zhouzhou bravely stepped forward and took Fu Yuxi's hand, placing his small finger on Yuxi's pulse. He noticed that Yuxi's pulse, blood pressure, and body temperature were dropping, and his heart rate was erratic—clear signs of poisoning.
Hearing this, Fu Yuxi narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of surprise on his handsome face. He was aware of his own poisoning, but how could a child so young know this?
Wen Chichi was both angry and annoyed, yet there was nothing he could do. This little one was determined to show off his medical skills, using people as his test subjects.
Perhaps because his future stepdad had won him over, Zhouzhou wasn't afraid of him. Zhouzhou climbed onto Yuxi, placing his hand on Yuxi's neck to feel his pulse. He realized Yuxi's heart was beating faster than usual.
With a serious expression, Zhouzhou said, "Stepdad, a normal person's heart beats at least sixty times per minute. Over a lifetime, it should beat no less than 2.5 billion times. But you're exceeding that rate, and if this continues, you might not make it through the winter."
Fu Yuxi seemed to be barely managing his severe condition, relying on expensive medicine to keep himself alive. Wen Chichi was surprised to hear this, not realizing Yuxi's illness was so severe.
If he were to die, as his first wife, wouldn't life become difficult for her? Yet, Wen Chichi never really had much interest in him. Even after their brief connection, she never truly wished for his death.
Fu Yuxi had a sharp intuition that the little one in front of him might actually be quite remarkable. The doctors couldn't diagnose his condition, but with just a glance and a touch, this child could articulate his symptoms perfectly. It was impressive, especially since they had never met before.
Fu Yuxi's face unconsciously showed admiration, and his expression softened as he looked at Wen Zhouzhou. He even reached out to gently pat Zhouzhou's head. "You're really smart."
Zhouzhou's chin practically lifted to the sky with pride at the compliment. That so-called expert had claimed the illness was incurable—what a fraud. It was just a minor ailment. If Zhouzhou could cure it, that fraud would have to step down and call him master. The thought made him feel quite pleased.
Wen Chichi realized that if things continued this way, Fu Yuxi might target the child. She quickly grabbed Zhouzhou's little hand, her tone stern. "You haven't mastered your skills yet, so don't go around making claims. He's perfectly healthy and doesn't need your concern."
Of course, standing in front of such an important figure and declaring someone was on their last legs was just asking for trouble.
Unfortunately, her son didn't seem to realize this and was instead happily trying to find a solution for his stepdad. Wen Chichi quickly interrupted, pulling Wen Zhouzhou along, with Fu Yuxi following closely behind.
Once they were out of the private room, Fu Yuxi's usual stern demeanor returned, a look that could send chills down anyone's spine. There was no way Fu Yuxi would easily let Wen Chichi leave; he naturally wanted the child to help him more.
Fu Yuxi caught up in just a few strides. Inside the club, there were few who didn't recognize him. When they saw Fu Yuxi walking closely with the currently popular Wen Chichi, they couldn't help but express their disbelief.
"Oh my... isn't that Young Master Fu?"
"Isn't the woman beside him Wen Chichi?"
"Wow... who would have thought..."
They had heard rumors about Wen Chichi and Fu Yuxi's engagement, initially thinking it was a joke, but now it seemed real. It was obvious that tomorrow's headlines would be about the reclusive young master welcoming a new love into his life.
Wen Chichi wasn't too concerned about what others thought. However, with Fu Yuxi constantly by her side, she couldn't help but worry if the gossip would affect Zhouzhou.
This is just a young child, after all, with a remarkable intelligence but still just a little one. A child can never keep things hidden in their heart for long.
Seeing Fu Yuxi blocking her path outside the club, Wen Chichi felt a nervous sweat break out on her forehead.
"Mr. Fu, my kid just likes to read medical books for fun. If he said something wrong, please don't take it to heart. He didn't mean any harm."
Whether right or wrong, Fu Yuxi knew that this mother and son duo were not ordinary people. Since the child was so sharp to see through his condition, he must also be able to help him recover.
Fu Yuxi crouched down and gave Wen Zhouzhou a gentle smile, which left his assistant dumbfounded.
He... he'd never seen Mr. Fu smile like that at any woman or child before. It was unbelievable!
