C30 Eating Lin Yi's Body!
"As soon as Fatty gathers the Dragon Grass, I can immediately begin the stone's bloodline evolution," Lin Yi said, caressing the stone cradled in his arms. "I'm curious whether the bloodline evolution will improve by one or two tiers..."
"Common, elite, Overlord, perfect, epic... what comes after that?"
Lin Yi's head rested against the wall as his eyes slowly closed.
The Crunch Souls Martial Arts Club, lively throughout the day, now settled into a tranquil hush.
Suddenly,
"Buzz! Buzz!" "Yi Bro! Open the door!"
The pounding and yelling jolted Lin Yi's ears like a blaring alarm.
"...What's going on?" A groggy Lin Yi, jolted from sleep, mumbled.
"Yi Bro, please open the door!" Nuo Juan called out once more.
Rubbing his sleepy head, Lin Yi grumbled, "Who's there? Knocking at this hour... it's quite impolite."
"Buzz! Buzz!"
"Alright, alright, I'm coming! Stop knocking!" Lin Yi, heavy-footed, trudged toward the door.
"Click!"
The door swung open slowly.
Blinking away sleep, Lin Yi peered at the figure before him and asked, "Who are you? What do you want?"
Nuo Juan paused, taken aback!
Seeing Lin Yi squinting and disoriented, she felt a surge of delight. Could it be that Yi Bro hasn't fully woken up? Maybe I should...
Lin Yi swayed slightly, recognizing the silhouette before him: "I feel like I know you."
"Yi Bro, I'm your girlfriend," Nuo Juan said gently and warmly, careful not to startle him awake.
She then softly supported Lin Yi's back, guiding him back, whispering, "You must be tired, Yi Bro. You should get some rest soon."
"Mhm," Lin Yi murmured, still half-asleep, and allowed Nuo Juan to assist him back to Crunch Souls.
"Caw Caw!" "Caw Caw!"
Caw, following behind Nuo Juan, cleverly shut the door for them.
Using its rear and head to do so!
...
Lin Yi was settled back into the recliner.
He was groggy and quickly fell asleep without giving it much thought.
Nuo Juan gave Lin Yi a small smile. "Yi, I'm going to sleep in your arms, okay?"
Lin Yi didn't reply; he just shifted slightly to get into a more comfortable position.
"If you don't say anything, I'll take that as a yes," Nuo Juan whispered into Lin Yi's ear.
But Lin Yi, already asleep, didn't respond.
"Here I come then..."
Just as Nuo Juan was about to snuggle into Lin Yi's arms, feeling triumphant, a translucent, light blue snake head suddenly popped out from his collar.
It was Stone!
Nuo Juan: (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻
Stone's unexpected appearance shattered Nuo Juan's dreamy plans.
"Ah, it's Stone," Nuo Juan said awkwardly, looking at Stone, who was eyeing her warily. "Did you sleep well?"
What a silly question.
Stone's gaze was icy. This female had been trying to steal my master, and Stone felt a strong urge to bite her.
"Cough cough, never mind. You go ahead and rest. I'll just... go over there..." Nuo Juan, feeling the chill from Stone's stare, knew she wouldn't get another chance and quietly moved aside, abandoning her mischievous intentions.
Stone's gaze remained frosty until Nuo Juan had walked away, then it withdrew back into Lin Yi's embrace.
Sighing in resignation, Nuo Juan sat a short distance from Lin Yi, gazing longingly at him.
"Squeak squeak!" At that moment, Caw ambled up to Lin Yi and sniffed the air.
"Squeak squeak!"
You smell delicious. Can I eat you?
"Hiss hiss?" Stone popped out again at the sound.
"Squeak squeak!"
You fool!
"Squeak squeak!"
Oh, you're alive! Wanna come out and play?
"Squeak squeak! Hiss!"
Play? No way! Scram!
Ultimately, Nuo Juan could do nothing but embrace Caw and reluctantly settle down on the lounge chair to sleep through the night.
The sensation was truly a mix of cold and discomfort.
The following day, to avoid detection by Lin Yi, Nuo Juan rose particularly early.
She had washed away the blood stains on her body in the shower room and discarded her slightly torn clothes for new ones. In essence, everything about her was as impeccable as always.
Lin Yi, as per usual, was none the wiser.
"Caw! Use Ice Breath!" Nuo Juan commanded, pointing at the puppets in front of her.
"Squeak!"
Caw executed the command seamlessly.
"Crack!" In the blink of an eye, the two puppets in the front were encased in a layer of frost.
Without pausing, Nuo Juan directed Caw again, "Now, use the Giant Rock Ball!"
"Squeak!" The Two-Headed Split Lizard let out a cry, its robust tail thudding against the ground.
The strong Earth Element coalesced around it, taking several minutes to form a one-meter-diameter stone ball above the puppets.
"Boom!" The massive stone ball crashed down onto the puppets, shattering the fragile figures instantly.
The entire training ground quivered slightly.
"Not bad, Nuo Juan!" Fatty, from the other side of the training ground, complimented her with a beaming smile.
Fatty had also gotten up early today, not only to train the Pig's Head but also to bring breakfast for Lin Yi and the others.
Lin Yi was now up as well, enjoying the breakfast Fatty had brought.
"It's a shame, it's still too slow!" Lin Yi commented while sipping soy milk, "The Giant Rock Ball is powerful, but it takes too long to form. You started with Ice Breath to freeze the enemy, then you should follow up immediately with a claw attack. That's how you achieve a burst of high-speed power."
Nuo Juan chuckled, "Got it!"
Thankfully, Yi didn't remember last night's events, or I'd be in a world of trouble today.
"By the way, Fatty... Where's Juan?" Lin Yi asked as he fed the Familiar its special food.
"Doesn't she usually bring breakfast? Why isn't she here this morning?"
Fatty mopped the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief and replied, "Some folks have come to town today. I reckon she won't be able to make it out."
Oh? Have those people arrived so early?
Lin Yi nodded and instructed, "Fatty, in a moment, take the dosage of pills we've prepared over the past few days to Zhong Qin."
"Got it."
"And Fatty, don't forget to secure some more resources for me, and make sure to prioritize getting more Dragon Grass. We're down to the last few days, and time is running out."
Fatty nodded in acknowledgment. "Okay."
With only three days left until the joint examination, Lin Yi knew he had to get his preparations underway. It would be a disaster if he found himself in need of something at the last minute and didn't have it.
Lately, Lin Yi couldn't shake a persistent feeling of unease, as if something bad was looming on the horizon.
Standing empty-handed, Lin Yi gazed out the door, murmuring to himself, "Let's just hope nothing bad happens..."
