C1 PROLOGUE

"Mother, are you leaving me?" The tiny bell-like voice asked, "You said you were going to show me how my powers work. You said I was special, and you wanted me to meet Father. The Father is here. Where are you going?"

Luna stared at her mother, who had turned to leave, stopped, and glanced back at her. Her Mother had promised to show her how her powers worked. She had been the one teaching her how to make use of her powers, even though they get complicated at times. Looking at her Mother now, she realized that the time they have together might not be enough and she was never going to see her again.

Her father was standing behind them in the darkness, just watching. Luna knew her Mother had told her she had already spoken to her father. Her father could not do anything about it because they had already made plans. Luna barely knew anything about her father; she had heard about him from her mother, but staying and living with him was a huge work she might not know how to endure without her mother there.

"Mother, don't go!" She yelled before throwing herself at her Mother.

She hugged her Mother's legs so tightly that her mother had to bend to her height to remove her hands. Luna glanced at Lussa, her mother, who had always taken great care of her and would never let anyone or anything come close to her.

"I am not leaving you, my little monster."

Those words were meant to make her laugh, like she used to whenever her Mother called her that. She was not in the mood to laugh or joke around. She could sense that her Mother was leaving her, but her Mother had just assured her that she wasn't. Luna never wanted to get away from her mother at all costs; her Mother was the only one she had.

"I would be back; those bad men are after you. I want to protect you like always; you are special, and you have to be safe."

"Mother…"

"Luna, promise me." Lussa said. "Promise me that you will hide your identity and that you will never use any other powers you have. Except for being a werewolf,

"I'm also a vampire." Luna persisted. "I can't hide who I am meant to be."

"Luna." Her Mother called, squeezing her shoulders softly. "Promise me."

Luna studied her Mother's face, and tears slowly began trickling down her cheek. She raised her right hand behind her and crossed it. She was not sure if she was going to do what her Mother wanted her to do, but she had to promise her anyway.

"I promise." She whispered.

"Thank you." Lussa muttered, pulling Luna into a hug.

Luna threw her hand around her Mother, and tears trickled down her face. She had always been with her Mother without knowing exactly who her father was, and now her Mother was leaving her with a man she barely recognized.

Footsteps echoed loudly from the distance, and Lussa immediately pulled away from the hug. She gently pushed Luna towards the man who was standing behind them in the darkness. Luna grabbed her hand, pulling her away, not willing to let her go.

Mother, don't go." She cried.

Lussa removed Luna's grip from her arm and pushed Luna off of her. Luna landed on her buttocks and stared at her mother, who was picking up a sword from the ground. From her teary eyes, she could see her Mother walking towards the exit of the cave. Luna was sure she was walking to her death.
