C2 Her Dark Cottage
His expression is still cold to her, always without warmth.
The report card was like a yellow leaf falling beside her feet. She squatted down and picked it up. There was a little disappointment in her eyes.
Each of her homework was worth 100 points.
She was so happy that she thought he would look at her again. She thought that as long as she studied hard, she would be liked by him, even if it was just a little bit.
"Thank you, uncle!"
She said in a low voice. She held the report card and walked out the door. She looked down at the name Ji Ye on it.
After so many years, this name would forever be the deepest and softest thing in her heart.
She smiled happily. It was already very good that her uncle was willing to sign it. It didn't matter. It must be because she didn't do well enough, so her uncle didn't like her.
As long as she worked harder and did better, her uncle would definitely like her.
She put on her old cloth shoes and walked downstairs.
"Uncle."
The same tender voice as Ji Li's rang out, causing her to involuntarily stop her steps and stand in the middle of the stairs to look up.
A girl wearing a white lace nightdress walked out of the room filled with dolls. Her skirt covered her ankles and revealed her soft and tender feet. Her face was red and very cute. Her hair was naturally curly.
She walked to Ji Ye's door with sleepy eyes and kept calling him.
Ji Ye heard the sound and strode out of the room. He picked up the little girl. "Xue, why are you awake?" He pinched her little nose and kissed her dotingly on her little face.
"Uncle, I had a nightmare. It was so scary." She hugged Ji Ye's neck and kept trembling.
Ji Ye gently patted her on the back. " With me accompanying you to sleep, you won't be afraid anymore."
His attempt to pacify her successfully calmed her down.
"Yeah, I like sleeping with my uncle. I love my uncle the most." She kissed Ji Ye's face heavily.
Ji Li had seen the same scene countless times. Every time, she felt the same disappointment and sadness. She was so envious of Xue. She also wanted to get her uncle's love and also wanted her uncle to hug her in his arms.
This was her biggest wish.
So many times, even if her uncle wasn't smiling at her, as long as she saw his smiling face, she would be happy for a long time.
Ji Ye noticed the little girl at the corner of the stairs. She looked around quietly with desire.
"Ji Li, you should go back to your room." His cold voice said to the darkness.
Then soft footsteps sounded.
In the darkness, she was a little angel without wings, because there was no light, she could no longer fly.
Ji Li walked into the dark room and a cold feeling immediately hit her face.
She lit up a lamp that was not much brighter than a candle light and there was a faint yellow light in the room.
It was a damp and cold storage room. It was located in the basement under the stairs of the villa. There were no windows, so the sun and moon could not shine in. This place was very gloomy all year round.
There was everything in the room. There were tables and chairs with broken legs, a lamp that was not too bright, and all sorts of things.
Her bed was an old-fashioned wooden table, and the bedding was gray.
That thin layer of blanket was not enough to resist her coldness in the cold winter night.
She climbed up and put her little feet into it. It was very cold tonight, and there was no heating in the storeroom.
Ji Li had been living here for three years. She had been adopted at the age of six and had been living on this floor ever since.
She used the weak light to pick up the report card and copied the name on it again and again.
