C7 Chapter 7

“Here’s your schedule, sir,” I said, stretching the updated tab towards him. I waited nervously for his response.

He kept typing away on the computer in front of him, while I stood still, waiting patiently.

Finally he raised his head, staring at me with a raised eyebrow, confusion was written all over my face, then he signaled with his eyes to the iPad in my hands, I followed his gaze down to it.

“Owh” I muttered, realizing my mistake, then quickly read out his schedule for the day.

“You have a 10 am meeting with the managers, it is 9:45 am” I said, glancing at my watch.

“You've got 15 minutes to prepare for the meeting boss” I continued.

He nodded curtly, dismissing me with a wave.

“I will be waiting for you outside” I bowed my head slightly and turned to leave.

“Miss Audrey?” he called.

“Sir?” I turned back facing him

“You are not a slave, stop bowing” He said curtly.

“Ok sir” I responded confidently offering a smile.

“Audrey,” I said. He raised a brow in question.

“You can call me Audrey boss”

“Noted” He said faltly, returning to the screen in front of him.

Taking that as my cue to leave. I left and returned to my desk to prepare for the meeting. A few minutes later he walked out of his office, I quickly stood up from my seat grabbing the iPad and trailed after him. Oh God! His legs are long, what was I expecting? After all, he's tall. I was finding it difficult to catch up with his long stride, one step of his are equivalent to two of mine, and suddenly I bumped into him at the entrance of the elevator.

I didn't realized he stopped already to press the button on the elevator, rubbing my forehead, I heard him ask

“Are you this clumsy?” He asked in a bored tone tilting his head slightly to stare at me.

“I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean for it to happen” I said, bowing my head in shame.

We were already in the elevator, I watched the arrow blink downward, signaling the elevator going down, the silence was thickening and I felt uncomfortable.

When we got to the conference room, the managers were already seated, immediately the boss came in, they all stood up, only sitting after he took his seat. I stood beside him ready to take notes of the meeting.

“What are you doing?” He asked glancing at me.

“Standing beside you to take notes,” I answered confused .

“Are you—nevermind, Sit your ass down!” He said exasperated.

I thought, I was supposed to stand while taking notes of what's being discussed in the meeting, I felt embarrassed. I quickly sat down without looking up, then the meeting began, I took notes of everything being said in the meeting, towards the end of the meeting I was already comfortable to glance around and take note of everyone and every and every single item in the room. The meeting ended, we all exited the conference room back to our various stations. I was in the elevator with the boss contemplating if I should apologize for what happened.

“Spill” He commanded coldly, startling me.

I jumped slightly, slightly shakened up, why the heck am I feeling this way.

“I-I'm sorry sir, I didn't know I wasn't supposed to stand, I'm so sorry, I'm sorry.” I said bowing continuously.

“Why the hell are you shaking like a chicken?” He asked irritation evident in his tone. I kept mute, with my head down.

“Cat got your tongue?” He asked sharply.

“I-I get this way, anytime I'm embarrassed” I mumbled.

My guess was he didn't hear, because he didn't respond after that. “What's with the switch? He was sort of kind to me this morning,” I wondered, walking to my desk, I got comfortable and rest my head on it, I kept sighing continuously, feeling overly embarrassed about the earlier incident.

“Audrey, you need to get your act together, this is not you!” I mumbled squishing my face.

I began typing the detailed draft of the meeting conclusion to the boss’s email, when I saw someone walk past my desk heading towards the CEO’s office.

“Hey” I called out standing up from my seat and walking over to the person, she stopped and turned—it was Max. Her attitude instantly ticked me off.

“Max?” I called.

Ok, I'm pissed what the hell is this girl's problem! .

“Can I help you?” I asked professionally with a frown on my face.

“No you can't,I need to see the boss”She said dismissively, attempting to walk past me but I stepped in her way.

“What do you wanna see the boss for?” I asked already irritated by her attitude.

“None of your business, now out of my way,” She said rudely.

“You can't just go see the boss unannounced, and you of all people should know the protocol, you have to come to me first, and I will let you know if it's convenient to see him. Need I remind you or you didn't realize I was on seat?” I said firmly.

“Tch” She hissed, glaring daggers at me.

“You wanna give him the document, hand it over, I will do that!” I said stretching my hand, waiting for her to hand the documents over.

“Had you approached me politely, I might’ve let you through. But you didn’t, so you’ll have to wait,” I continued calmly.

“I have all the time in the world to stand here, but I aren't letting you walk through that door to see the boss.” I said standing my ground, realizing she wasn't ready to hand it over.

After what felt like minutes of her throwing daggers at me, she reluctantly handed the document to me.

“What's this for?” I asked with an overly sweet smile, knowing she's pissed, but couldn't do anything about it.

“Review and sign” She muttered through clenched teeth.

I knocked, then stepped into the boss’s office.

“Sir Max asked for you to review and sign this document.” I said handing it over to him.

After signing it, he returned it to me without a word.

I walked out and handed the paper back to Max. Without a word she snatched it from my hands and stormed off. I burst out laughing at her childish tantrums, walking over to my desk, I continued my work. Then suddenly my stomach grumbled.....
