C5 The unknown revelations

Alpha Maximus coldly asked "How often did you get to see your mother after your father passed away?" I stared at him, anger seething through me. He could mention my father's death as if it were nothing more than a chicken's demise.

My mother fell into a deep depression after my father's death and was frequently hospitalized. In exchange for taking care of my mother, the Alpha forced me to work. I only had a few hours to spend with her before the Alpha would punish me for neglecting my duties. My visits with my mother were cut short, and she passed away two years later. I had to beg the Alpha to let me say goodbye to her when they sent her body back to the human world. Even in death, she was beautiful.

"You let my mother give birth and didn't even bother to tell me," I said, hurt. Alpha Maximus responded with venom in his voice, "Should I, Alpha Maximus, the Alpha Lunarbane pack explain to a lowly Omega like you?"

"So, now I don’t think you will love to see your kid sister to visit the underworld, right?" Beta Jackson asked sinisterly and my body shivered from his tone.. "I want my little sister and me to go together. I promise not to say anything to my mates if you allow it," I demanded.

Beta Jackson laughed sinisterly, "Oh, my ex-mate, you're not going anywhere." I glanced at Alpha Maximus, hoping to see a surprised look on his face at Jackson calling me his ex-mate, but there was none. It was as if he had known all along. My heart clenched, and I shifted my gaze from him before asking Jackson, "Why would I stay here when I could be with my mates?"

"Well, you'll have to reject your mates and stay here to take care of your sister," Jackson said nonchalantly. I look at him daringly, "And what if I refuse to reject my mates?"

Lucas's Point Of View:

Earlier in the Shadowmoon Pack...

"Daddy! Daddy, where are you?" Audrey called from downstairs. I had just come out of the shower and was wearing a tank top and baseball pants. Ryder rushed into my room, looking desperate as if his butt was on fire.

"She's coming, let's hide," he told me as he hid under my bed, knowing that the little girl would look in the bathroom if he hid there. "Why didn't you hide in your room?" I asked him, and he peeked out from under the bed, "Of course, she knows all my hiding places in my room."

Before Ryder could hide again, Audrey burst in, "Daddy, I'm here," she announced, spotting Ryder trying to hide. "Why are you sleeping there, daddy? Are you sick?" She went to the side of the bed and touched Ryder's cheeks. I had to hold back a laugh at the look on Ryder's face.

"Yes, I'm not feeling well. My body hurts, and I can't even stand up," he lied.

"You can't stand up?" She removed her hands from his cheeks and held her chin as if she was thinking, "Then how did you end up here?"

"Well, I kind of forget how I ended up here. Oh, it might be Lucas who brought me here," Ryder said, looking at me eagerly waiting for me to save him.

"Well, you wanted to hide from someone and ended up here," I replied nonchalantly. Audrey frowned at him in disgust.

"Well, now I don't think I need to hide anyway," he rose from under the bed. "Who wants ice cream?" he asked excitedly, trying to divert Audrey’s attention, but she wasn't having any of it.

"I don't want ice cream. I'm not going to fall for your ice cream trick!" she yelled, and Ryder almost jumped on me.

"You better drop those dirty hands off me, dumb face," I pushed him away.

"Oh, dumb face, bro, don't forget we have the same face," he replied sarcastically.

"At least much wiser than you," Audrey answered for me.

"You..."

"Have you finished packing?" I asked him, changing the topic.

"Yeah," he replied, not liking me changing the subject.

"Daddy, why are you packing?" Audrey asked me, tears welling up in her eyes. I crouched down and held her face, "We're going to look for our mate at the Lunarbane Pack."

"Ok, will my dad also go with you?" She asked, smiling. Her smile was like sunshine, lighting up the room.

"Yeah."

"Why is my dad always following both of you? Is it because he's the Beta?"

"Yes, since your dad is our beta, he has to follow us everywhere we go," I explained to her.

"Ok, daddy, go and bring mummy!!" She said loudly and excitedly.

"Ok, I hope we get to meet her today," I said sadly. It had been six years, and we still hadn't found our mate yet. We had turned down almost every pack each year when we didn't find our mate. The thought of her being dead or not born yet made me want to slaughter an entire pack. If we don't find our mate in the Lunarbane Pack, I will skin Alpha Maximus limb by limb to satisfy my wolf.

"You will find her. At least Lora won't be my mother, ewwww," she said, scrunching her nose in disgust, making both of us burst out laughing.

"Kid, why do you hate your aunt so much?" Ryder asked, making me roll my eyes. "As if he likes her," I muttered under my breath.

"If she becomes our Luna, I'll make sure to poison her myself," she replied, puffing up her chest.

"Well, that's never going to happen, so you don't have to kill her. Come on, let's go downstairs and have our breakfast. We'll be leaving in an hour to go and bring your mother back," I reassured her.

"Yay!!" She exclaimed, clearly more excited than us.

Holding her hand, we walked into the huge dining hall.

"Hi, handsome, are you here to eat?" The devil asked, showing her white teeth and seductively wetting her lips.

"Do we do anything else in the dining hall?" I replied sarcastically and snorted.

"Serve me," Ryder ordered the chef and sat down, ignoring Lora.

"Daddy, let's go and sit," Audrey told me, leading me to the big chair next to my Ryder.

Soon our food was served, and we dug in hurriedly since we had to leave in 40 minutes.

"Son, slow down, or you're going to choke yourself, which would be fun if you didn't have anywhere to go," Dad said, smiling warmly at us.

"Are you caring for us or something else?" Ryder asked him.

"Maybe both," He replied, raising his eyebrows and feeding my mom.

"It's great to have your mate around you.”

"Don't start, dad, or we'll rip your head off," both of us warned him.

"Young boys, never even think of killing my mates, or I will poison both of you," Mom scolded us.

Dad always seemed to enjoy rubbing salt on our wounds for not finding our mate as early as he did on his eighteenth birthday. Whenever he got the chance, he would roast us, but it didn't help at all. If we don't find our mate in the Lunarbane Pack this time, well, let's just say they might have reason to worry.
