C11 Confusion!
The principal recognized only Qiao Liang, and since Qiao Liang hadn't introduced Lu Wangshu and Lin Xiangyi upon entering, the principal assumed they were also police officers.
Realizing the mix-up, Qiao Liang quickly clarified, "Principal, there's been a misunderstanding. They're not officers. This is my good friend, Lu Wangshu. He's a police academy graduate like me. But instead of joining the force, he started his own detective agency."
The principal, truth be told, wasn't fond of detectives, mainly because students often got distracted by detective novels during class, leading to his bias against the profession.
But now, learning that Lu Wangshu was a fellow police academy alumnus and not some sham detective, the principal's attitude softened somewhat. He wasn't as warm as he was with Qiao Liang, but he was certainly more amenable.
"And who is this?" the principal inquired, glancing at Lin Xiangyi.
With a smile, Qiao Liang introduced her, "This is his secretary, Lin Xiangyi."
Once the introductions and pleasantries were out of the way, Qiao Liang got down to business. He explained Lu Wangshu's intention to stake out the male dormitory for the next few days, or possibly longer.
This wasn't a new request; the police had conducted similar stakeouts before, so it wasn't a cause for concern.
Given that Lu Wangshu was vouched for by Qiao Liang and had a reputable background from the police academy, the principal was inclined to consent. But before he could voice his approval, a knock at the door interrupted them.
Turning, they saw a woman at the door—it was the principal's assistant. The principal gave her a cursory glance and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Principal, Yang Hanh's parents have arrived," she informed him.
At the mention of Yang Hanh's parents, the principal's brow furrowed involuntarily.
Since the ghost incident at the school, numerous parents have come to make a fuss. Yang Hanh's parents, in particular, have been the most vociferous.
There was little that could be done, as their child had been the most terrified.
The principal let out a soft sigh, composed himself, and asked his assistant, "What brings Yang Hanh's parents to the school this time?"
The assistant shook his head, indicating uncertainty, and replied, "I'm not entirely sure of the details. It appears to be about Yang Hanh resuming his classes at school."
Yang Hanh had been in the hospital for quite some time and should be nearly recovered. As a student, his absence from school meant falling behind in his studies significantly compared to his peers. So, it made sense that his parents would want him to return to school to catch up.
The principal considered for a moment, then gestured and said, "Take Yang Hanh's parents to the conference room and ask them to wait for me. I have a few matters to attend to here, but once I'm finished, I'll join them."
The assistant nodded and exited the principal's office.
Qiao Liang and Lu Wangshu had familiarized themselves with the case beforehand, so they knew exactly who "Yang Hanh's parents" referred to.
Qiao Liang inquired of the principal, "Is Yang Hanh the student who was so severely frightened that he ended up in the hospital?"
With a wry smile, the principal answered, "Yes, that's him. He was hospitalized for several days. I believe his parents are here to talk about getting him back to school."
Ultimately, the chaos at the school could be traced back to the individual causing all the mischief. Without them, none of these problems would have arisen.
The principal then added, "Mr. Qiao, regarding your suggestion to have Detective Lu stationed at the school, I have no objections. The school fully agrees and will provide all the necessary support."
Lu Wangshu thought for a moment, his brow furrowed, and said, "Principal, I have an additional request."
The principal paused briefly before asking with patience, "Detective Lu, do you have any other requests? Feel free to speak your mind."
Lu Wangshu replied, "I'd like to keep a low profile while I'm staking out the boys' dormitory. The fewer people who know about it, the better."
After pondering for a moment, the principal suggested, "What if you disguised yourself as a student? Would that work?"
Blending in as a student would be the least likely to arouse suspicion.
However, at 27 years old, Lu Wangshu posing as a high school student might be quite a stretch.
Despite his youthful appearance, Lu Wangshu lacked the distinctive youthful vibe of a student.
Qiao Liang gave Lu Wangshu a concerned look, seemingly doubtful of the plan, while Lin Xiangyi also subtly shook her head in disapproval.
Nonetheless, the principal dismissed their concerns, saying, "No problem. As long as Detective Lu shaves his beard and wears an oversized school uniform with a backpack, he won't stand out. With so many students at the school, no one will notice."
Convinced by the principal's confidence, Lu Wangshu's lips curled into a slight smile as he agreed, "Alright. I'll go shave and you can prepare the uniform for me. I'll handle the backpack myself. Tonight, I'll begin my stakeout at the boys' dormitory."
Once everything was agreed upon, the trio left the school.
After dropping off Lu Wangshu and Lin Xiangyi at the office, Qiao Liang headed back to the police station.
At the office, Lu Wangshu didn't engage further with Lin Xiangyi but instead went upstairs to look for his razor.
Lin Xiangyi watched as Lu Wangshu turned his room upside down searching and, guessing what he was after, joined in the hunt.
While Lu Wangshu excelled at solving cases and reasoning, Lin Xiangyi had a knack for finding things. Lu Wangshu had no luck in his room, but Lin Xiangyi effortlessly found the razor in the bathroom.
Handing the razor to Lu Wangshu, Lin Xiangyi couldn't help but feel a touch of sweetness in her heart.
The razor Lu Wangshu was using had been a gift from her. After receiving her first paycheck, Lin Xiangyi had bought it for him.
Reflecting on this, Lin Xiangyi nonchalantly inquired, "That razor of yours is quite worn out. Why haven't you replaced it yet?"
Lu Wangshu glanced at the razor in his hand and replied with a hint of nostalgia, "It still works, so why not keep using it? There's no need to be so fussy. Constantly replacing things is just wasteful. I'm a man; I don't go on shopping sprees like women do every single day."
Despite Lu Wangshu's confident assertion, Lin Xiangyi couldn't help but notice a faint blush creeping up his ears.
"Hmph, just as I thought, he's just being stubborn," Lin Xiangyi thought to herself. "He's obviously too attached to part with it."
