C27 Heart Disease

After Wangshuu finished recounting her story, her beautiful face was still streaked with tears. Clearly, the ordeal she had kept hidden deep within her had cast a significant psychological shadow over her.

"So, you actually went that night?" Lin Xiangyi asked after a prolonged silence, unable to contain her curiosity.

Wangshuu nodded, explaining, "The Dean of Students said he was well-connected with many teachers at S University. He promised to help me get in if I did as he said. So, thinking of my future, I went that night."

Lin Xiangyi sighed, her anger palpable. "That Dean is nothing but scum, using his position to manipulate and coerce students for his own vile purposes."

With this thought, she turned to Lu Wangshu, her face etched with indignation. "Now that we have the victim's statement, can we move forward with arresting the Dean?"

Lu Wangshu exchanged a glance with Qiao Liang before replying, "Technically, yes, but we still need physical evidence."

He then turned to Wangshuu, "Do you have any tangible evidence that could be compelling?"

Lin Xiangyi was about to interject, doubting that Wangshuu would have any such evidence. After all, the Dean had only ever spoken to them verbally, and her phone was typically confiscated – how could there be evidence?

But before she could speak, Wangshuu herself broke the silence, suggesting she might indeed have evidence.

Qiao Liang's interest was immediately piqued. "Is that so? What kind of evidence do you have?"

Wangshuu hesitated, her expression betraying her discomfort with the topic at hand.

Qiao Liang, lacking in emotional intelligence, failed to pick up on Wangshuu's distress. He pressed her, visibly impatient, "What's the evidence? Just tell us."

Under pressure, Wangshuu finally spoke, her words faltering, "Last night, the Dean sought me out again, and we had sexual relations. He didn't use protection, and it hasn't been 24 hours yet."

With that revelation, the gravity of the situation dawned on the trio. Qiao Liang, realizing his brashness in pushing the victim to disclose such personal information, felt a wave of remorse.

Lu Wangshu's expression turned steely as he made a decisive call to action, "Let's head to the hospital right away."

Qiao Liang, Lu Wangshu, Lin Xiangyi, and Wangshuu swiftly exited the meeting room. They offered no detailed explanation to the principal, merely stating that they needed to take Wangshuu to the hospital.

The principal, puzzled, had no choice but to consent. Qiao Liang further cautioned him to keep the matter of Wangshuu's hospital visit confidential.

Subsequently, Qiao Liang drove the group to the hospital. Considering Wangshuu was just a young girl, Lin Xiangyi stayed by her side, while Qiao Liang and Lu Wangshu waited outside.

Sitting on an outdoor bench, Qiao Liang and Lu Wangshu reflected on Wangshuu's recent words, their anger rising. "That director is beyond cruel. How could he stoop to such vile acts?" Qiao Liang exclaimed with fury.

Lu Wangshu nodded, his face a mask of cold detachment. "Indeed. We have to ensure that director faces the full extent of the law. Not only did we promise Mrs. Zhang, but we owe it to Du Le who passed away and to Wangshuu, who is currently enduring so much."

Qiao Liang added with a steely tone, "Absolutely. We can't let him continue his tyrannical behavior, nor can we allow him to harm any more children."

In the midst of their conversation, Lin Xiangyi emerged from inside.

Qiao Liang and Lu Wangshu hurried over and inquired, "How did it go?"

Lin Xiangyi let out a sigh, speaking softly, "Rest assured. The doctor has extracted some semen from Wangshuu and is now analyzing it. However, Wangshuu is certain it belongs to the head of the teaching department, so there's no need to wait for the results to apprehend him."

"Okay, we'll head out now," Qiao Liang decided. "Once the results are in, just text Wangshu. Xiangyi, please look after Wangshuu; she's not doing well."

Lin Xiangyi nodded reassuringly, "Don't worry, I'm on it."

At that moment, Qiao Liang turned to Lu Wangshu and asked, "Shall we head to Yongzhou No.1 Middle School now?"

After a brief pause, Lu Wangshu replied, "Let's go."

With that, Lu Wangshu and Qiao Liang departed from the hospital, one following the other.

Lin Xiangyi watched as the two departed and then turned to return to the hospital room.

Wangshuu was lying in bed, gazing out the window with a forlorn expression that tugged at the heartstrings.

She didn't turn to look when she heard Lin Xiangyi enter the room.

"What are you looking at?" Lin Xiangyi asked, her curiosity piqued as she sought to break the silence.

"I'm looking at the flower outside the window. Officer, do you see that flower? Is it about to die?" Wangshuu pointed outside.

Wangshuu only knew Qiao Liang was a police officer, so she naturally assumed that Lu Wangshu and Lin Xiangyi, who were with Qiao Liang, were also officers.

Lin Xiangyi didn't feel the need to correct her. She walked to the window and, following Wangshuu's pointing finger, indeed saw a flower teetering on the brink.

Before Lin Xiangyi could respond, Wangshuu added, "Is my life going to end like that flower's?"

Lin Xiangyi quickly offered words of comfort, "Wangshuu, what are you talking about? You're just at the beginning. This flower might look sick now, but just wait a few days. Once the weather improves, it'll bloom more brilliantly than any other."

Pausing, Lin Xiangyi then looked earnestly at Wangshuu and continued, "It's the poor weather making it wilt. Once the sunshine breaks through the clouds, everything will brighten up."

"Really, Officer?" Wangshuu asked.

Lin Xiangyi nodded emphatically, "Absolutely. There's no reason for me to lie to you. Don't worry so much, just focus on getting better. Understand?"

Just then, a fierce wind picked up outside. The very flower Wangshuu had pointed out was knocked over by the gust. Coincidentally, a mischievous child ran by the window and, without noticing, trampled the delicate bloom.

In just a few short minutes, the unfortunate flower had succumbed to the assault of the wind and the child's carelessness, withering away completely.

Lin Xiangyi watched this unfold from the window and couldn't help but feel a twinge of embarrassment.

Seeing Lin Xiangyi's awkward expression, Wangshuu couldn't help but burst into laughter.

With a gentle smile, she reassured Lin Xiangyi, "Don't worry, Officer. My life is always in my own hands. I'll make sure to live it well."

Lin Xiangyi nodded, replying, "I'm really glad to hear you say that."

Meanwhile, after leaving the hospital, Qiao Liang and Lu Wangshu headed straight back to Yongzhou No.1 Middle School.

This time, they bypassed the principal's office and made a beeline for the administration office. Upon entering, they inquired loudly, "Excuse me, which one of you is the director of education?"

A tall, slender man stood up and responded, "That would be me. What can I do for you gentlemen?"

Qiao Liang gave a frosty smile, pulled out his police badge, and presented it to the director, stating, "I'm a police officer. We've received a report alleging that you've molested an underage female student. Please accompany us to the police station for further investigation."

His words left everyone in the office in shock. They had never imagined the director could be accused of such misconduct.

At that moment, a teacher sitting across from the director stood up and interjected, "Officer, could there be some mistake? Our director accused of molesting a student? That seems highly unlikely."

Qiao Liang's expression remained impassive as he said, "The investigation at the station will reveal the director's true character." He then gestured to the director, indicating it was time to leave.

"Well then, let's proceed," the director said, maintaining his composure despite the incredulous stares from his colleagues.
