C8 Eight

CA: Bitch, there's so many snacks over here!

AU: What kind of snacks!?!

CA: Like guys. Not food, you fatass.

CA: Talking about ass. Bring yours over here, pronto!

The club was buzzing. My dress was clinging to my body like a second skin as I was trying to make my way through the crowd, teenagers for the most part, and find Caden.

The whole room smelled like alcohol and weed and I just knew coming here was a bad idea. There was no way I would leave this club sober tonight.

"Bitch! I'm over here!" Caden yelled from a booth all the way in the back of the club.

Why did he have to sit so far away? On one hand, it was good because we were far from all the sweaty party people, on the other hand, I was kinda disappointed because we sat all the way in the back, far away from all the fun.

But then again, we could make our own fun.

"Back to black huh?" I noticed as I took a seat on the couch across from him. Caden had dyed his hair black again, no sign of the ugly blonde from last week. Thank

goodness. "I missed you."

"Can't blame ya I'm the shit!" he yelled out laughing. There was no doubt that he had already taken a few shots.

"Let me pour you a drink, suga," he said, as I watched him grab the bottle of vodka.

Before the drink was poured I felt someone melting their body to mine from behind and I knew Axel had arrived. It was the smell of sweet shampoo, the warm but familiar cologne with a hint of fresh mint that gave his presence away.

"Hi, Noodles," he said, leaning towards me, lips close to my ear so I could hear him over the blasting music in the club. "How are you doing?"

I look at him out of the corner of my eye. "I'm doing well," I replied, and cringe at how it came out as a breathy whisper. "How are you doing?"

"I'm alive, so that says a lot." he chuckled, taking the seat next to me. "What's in the cup?" he asked, pointing at the red half-full cup Caden pressed into my hand.

"Vodka," I told him. "Want some?" "I'll make it myself."

"I can make it for you." Caden offered.

"Don't," Quinton warned as he and Landon joined us in the booth. "Caden makes poison, not drinks."

"That's not true," Caden yelled out offended. "I made Aulia's drink."

Quinton raised his eyebrows up at me. "I guess you will see sky daddy today,

princess."

I rolled my eyes at him and laughed. "It's not that bad."

"Or maybe you're just an alcoholic," Landon muttered, his eyes fixed on his phone.

"How was your day today?" Axel asked after he poured himself a drink. "Anything interesting happened?"

"I saw a dog today."

"Really?" he chuckled, his attention shifting back to the group after Quinton mentioned his name.

"Y'all not talking about that night again?" Axel called out, leaning back with one arm around my shoulder, as he lifted his cup to his lips. "We have heard it before."

"Aulia hasn't!" Caden shouted, throwing a hand out to motion to me. "What night?" I inquired. "What did y'all do?"

"We didn't do anything. It was all Landon." Quinton laughed, dragging his hand

through his hair. "It happened on one of our many nights out. So, we were heading out, jamming on some music, and talking about old times y'know. We hadn't started drinking yet-"

"Oh no," Caden butted in. "We were on our way to buy the booze. So we stopped at a store-"

"Queens to be exact," Axel reminisced, naming one of the biggest stores in town. "It was a Saturday night, so you can imagine how busy it gets-"

"Right," Caden interrupted again, a wry smile twisting his mouth. "And there was this huge pyramid of toilet paper in the entrance. Next thing we know-"

"Landon was on the ground covered in toilet paper. That motherfucker walked straight into it."

There was an uproar of laughter at Quinton's exclamation, but Landon held up a hand for quiet. "And you would think these fuckers would help me," he said, though the rest of us were still shaking with laughter. "But no, they walked away and

pretended they didn't know me!"

Axel wiped away tears of laughter from his eyes, his head thrown back against the back of the couch. "Geez, man, it was right there. I still can't believe how you didn't see it!"

"Certainly not my finest moment," Landon chuckled.

I shook my head, dark hair flying. "God! And I thought I was the blind one."

"But you are!" they all exclaimed in unison.

"I'm not," I yelled out, knowing that I certainly was but I didn't need people to call me out on it.

"Remember that one time you ran over a curb?" Caden mentioned nonchalantly, sipping on his drink.

"Or that one time we were calling you from across the street and you didn't even see us," Quinton added.

"The curb was in my way!" I clarified, "And I didn't hear y'all that night."

"Oh, so you're deaf and blind," Landon remarked sarcastically as he lit himself a joint.

"Fuck off."

"Hey, Lan, look who's at the bar," Quinton said, nudging Landon by his arm. "Isn't that the painter girl you're after?"

Landon's eyes immediately shifted to the bar. "Shit, It's her."

"She makes paintings and sells them. Famous on Instagram or well...in general," Axel whispered in my ear. He must have probably noticed the confusion written on my face. "Oh look, she's getting a free drink."

"And they say hot girl privilege doesn't exist," I muttered.

"I'll see you guys later," Landon said. He took a quick hit of his joint and passed it to Quinton before heading towards the bar.

"There goes Your Highness," Caden chuckled as he was pouring another drink for me.

As a contented sigh left my lips I leaned back into Axel's arm, watching him have a conversation with Caden and Quinton. When we were like this, chill, happy, drunk, and ignoring the fact that we were just friends, it was the only place I wanted to be.

I looked at him smiling and laughing and my heart filled with love and I thought :

He is my person.

"Let's go outside," Axel said after we had a few drinks and I was everything except

not intoxicated. "It's getting hot in here," he whispered.

I thought he was talking about the temperature, but when I got up and looked into the hallway leading to the restrooms I saw Quinton choking Caden up against the wall.

Frustratingly or sexually, It certainly was getting hot in here.

"Yea, let's go," I said, grabbing my belongings from the table. I surely did not want to witness any of that.

"Can I hold your hand?" Axel asked, holding a hand out to me. I put mine in his. "Are you scared, Sunshine?"

He chuckled. "No, short people tend to get lost easier. Or so I heard." I rolled my eyes at him. "Are you hearing impaired?"

After we successfully made our way through the crowd we walked out to where his car was parked. It was a beautiful night, stars were shining in the sky and the moon was smiling down at us.

Leaning up against his car I let out a breath of relief. "That was a lot of sweaty people."

"I know right," Axel sighed. He was standing in front of me, awfully close to my face, with his hands on either side of my body.

"Can we kiss?" I asked, but it sounded more like a whisper. Drunk me was doing things sober me would have slapped her for.

"I thought you would never ask."

He leaned in closer, pulled me to him while placing one hand on my waist and the other one around my neck. He tipped my head up and lowered his lips to mine. I closed my eyes and melted as my whole body was consumed by his kiss.

It wasn't a gentle kiss, but a rather possessive one. He paused and looked me in the eye, his face inches from mine. I could feel the heat of him and felt a twinge between my legs.

Oh hell no. I sobered up immediately.

I pushed him away and shook my head. "I'm sorry, but this isn't right. Friends don't kiss."

"But that's not what I want," he called out, frustrated. "Then what do you want, Axel?"

"I want...," he stopped, tearing his fingers through his hair. "Nevermind what I want." His voice was quieter now.

"You don't even know what you want."

"You."
