C5 The Mother of the Fly Spider

Under Jinfei's thorough inspection, the Fly Spiders on this floor were quickly dealt with. Lee Jiaxiang, almost in tears, locked the doors tightly. He felt trapped by the schemes of this master and apprentice duo, fearing he'd end up in massive debt if things continued this way. The thought of having to sell himself to pay off the debt sent a shiver down his spine. No way, once this is over, he resolved to keep his distance from them.

Ji Yeying and Ji Jinfei were oblivious to Lee Jiaxiang's thoughts. They were both in high spirits—one was thrilled about the day's earnings, and the other was delighted to finally receive some praise from a guy.

As they made their way to the third floor, they peered through the glass on the door and were taken aback. The space was slightly smaller than the one above, but still quite spacious. However, what caught their attention was a massive creature inside. It resembled a two-headed Fly Spider but was different, with five heads and no large nose, just a mouth-like feature. The body was enormous and cumbersome, covered with countless small Fly Spiders. The five mouth-like features were continuously spewing out white egg-like objects.

“Good thing we came early. There really is a Fly Spider Queen, constantly laying eggs. Jinfei, get the Demon Repelling Powder ready,” Ji Yeying instructed. “We’ll need to ask the dean for more money for this job, or we’ll be at a loss.”

Jinfei rummaged through her pockets, pulled out several small packets, mixed the powder inside, and poured it into a gun-like device that resembled a hairdryer.

Ji Yeying assessed the situation inside and said, “These small Fly Spiders should be vulnerable to the Demon Repelling Powder; they’ll die on contact. The main issue is the Fly Spider Queen. Fortunately, such a heavy creature shouldn’t be able to move, but we don’t know if it’s aggressive. Jinfei, once we go in, you cover me while I destroy its reproductive system. Then we’ll finish it off.”

"Sure thing," Ji Jinfei agreed immediately.

"What can I do?" Lee Jiaxiang asked.

"Just don't get in the way. Open the door," Ji Yeying ordered.

Lee Jiaxiang had no choice but to comply. He quickly entered the code and stepped back. Ji Yeying grabbed the door handle, glanced at Ji Jinfei, and then yanked the door open. Ji Jinfei immediately followed up, pulling the trigger on the gun-like device in his hand. The powder inside was propelled into the room, spreading rapidly.

This stuff really worked. The small fly spiders initially scurried away, but after a few steps, they succumbed to the demon-repelling powder and dropped dead. Ji Jinfei and Ji Yeying leaped forward, attacking the Demon Mother.

The room was filled with a rustling sound as fully grown fly spiders lunged at them. Ji Jinfei stepped forward, using his weapon to pierce the small nodules on the fly spiders' heads. Ji Yeying used Ji Jinfei's shoulder as a springboard, leaping high to avoid the other fly spiders' attacks, heading straight for the Demon Mother.

Ji Jinfei dodged two streams of venom and lunged at the fly spiders again. Both moved quickly, and within minutes, the fly spiders lay dead at Ji Jinfei's feet. Ji Yeying successfully severed the heads responsible for the Demon Mother's egg-laying, but the creature only collapsed, panting heavily, still alive.

Only then did Lee Jiaxiang dare to enter, carefully skirting around the Demon Mother. Surveying the scene, he asked, "What is this thing? Why isn't it dead?"

"It's regenerating. Look," Ji Yeying pointed to the five severed head stumps. Sure enough, not only had the pus stopped oozing, but the wounds were also healing and slowly starting to grow back.

"This... this thing's immortal. What do we do now?" Lee Jiaxiang took a few steps back.

The three of them followed the source line to one side, eventually reaching a corner of the lab. There, they found a medium-sized container, its wall already broken. The intestine-like source line was emerging from it.

At the connection point of this source line was a small, mummified fly spider. It wasn't large, but unlike other fly spiders, this one had a distinct blue color. Moreover, several tubes were connected to the blue fly spider, with liquid flowing through them into a larger sealed container nearby.

"What is this?" Ji Jinfei asked, staring at the unfamiliar sight.

Yeying's eyes widened in disbelief, then turned to anger. She grabbed Lee Jiaxiang by the collar and demanded, "What is this? Are you cultivating demonic seeds?"

"Let go, let go," Lee Jiaxiang gasped, struggling to breathe as Yeying's grip tightened. Once she loosened her hold a bit, he explained, "I don't know. Didn't I tell you before? These things were brought back by my teacher last time. I've never seen them, but this container is definitely for cultivation."

Yeying released Lee Jiaxiang and said coldly, "I knew the principal's expression was odd back then. So this is it—the academy is cultivating these creatures themselves. The demonic seed shriveled immediately, quickly losing its vitality.

The massive Demon Mother, without any more supply from its source, gradually shrank until it became a small, motionless lump.

Ji Yeying, however, ignored all this and quickly headed to the director's office. This time, she didn't even bother knocking; she just pushed the door open, startling the director. He looked at Ji Yeying's angry face and awkwardly smiled, saying, "It's all done, that's good, that's good. Let me know if you need more payment, and I'll cover it."

"Of course, there'll be extra payment, but that's not urgent," Ji Yeying replied, her tone icy as she stared at the director. "We saw some things in the lab on the lowest level. What's going on with that?"

The director was taken aback and said, "What did you see? I don't understand."

The dean immediately shook his head, but Lee Jiaxiang, standing nearby, noticed something and exclaimed, "Oh my God, isn't this a Fly Spider egg?"

The dean turned to look at Lee Jiaxiang. He recognized him as a student of the most famous professor here, so he asked, "What are you doing here? And how do you know what this egg is?"

"Your student is quite impressive. He spent his own money to find out what happened to his teacher, so we brought him down here. As for how he knows, it's simple—he saw this thing being laid with his own eyes, so of course he knows. Dean, I can tell you, if you don't tell the truth, I'll put this egg inside you."

"Master, master. We need to use the Demon Repelling Powder. This way, the demonic seed will hatch quickly, and small Fly Spiders will grow in his esophagus.
