C14 He Was so Unlucky!

In the bathroom on the second floor, Yann Qiai scrubbed her body with body wash multiple times, trying to erase any trace of Yan Zhimo from her skin. But it was no use. To make matters worse, she realized the clothes she had worn the night before were now soaking wet on the bathroom floor, having been tossed there in frustration.

What a terrible day!

With no other option, Yann wrapped herself in a bath towel and cautiously opened the door, peeking out to find the room blissfully free of Yan Zhimo's presence. She breathed a sigh of relief and stepped out of the bathroom.

Finally, no more dealing with that jerk!

Feeling a mix of relief and curiosity, she scanned the room for something to wear. Her eyes landed on a beautiful, delicate pink bag on the bedside table. Driven by curiosity, Yann opened it to find a stunning white dress inside.

Wow, what a gorgeous dress!

Her natural love for clothes sparked excitement, but it was quickly followed by confusion.

How did this dress get here?

It must be something an ex left behind!

Oh well, might as well make use of it.

Yann grabbed the dress and went back into the bathroom to change. When she carefully opened the door to leave the room, she was surprised to find an older man in a suit standing there, smiling warmly at her—someone she knew all too well.

"Mr. Lee! You're still here!"

"Hello, ma'am. It's been a long time. I never left."

Yann was overwhelmed with emotion. In this vast house, Yan Zhimo rarely stayed, and she hardly ever saw him. It was only when his mother visited that he would stick around. The one person she communicated with the most was Mr. Lee, the butler, who treated her like his own daughter and offered her great support. She never expected to see him again, and a wave of warmth and familiarity washed over her.

“Mr. Lee, I've missed you so much,” Yann Qiai exclaimed, wrapping Mr. Lee in a big hug.

“Ma’am, I’ve missed you too. When I heard about your accident back then, I couldn’t believe it. Seeing you’re fine now is such a relief. Welcome back.”

Yann Qiai gently released him and shook her head. “No, who said I’m back for good? I don’t want to stay here a moment longer. I’m leaving soon.”

“But the young master just left and said you can’t leave until he returns.”

“Why? What right does he have to keep me here?”

“That’s what he said, and besides, you can’t leave now. The young master just tightened security to keep an eye on you.”

“What?!” Yann Qiai was at her wit’s end, furious enough to want to tear Yan Zhimo to shreds. “No way, I need to talk to him. Mr. Lee, call him for me!”

“Alright, ma’am, just a moment.” Mr. Lee took out his phone and dialed Yan Zhimo’s number.

“What is it?”

Hearing Yan Zhimo’s voice on the other end, Yann Qiai snatched the phone from Mr. Lee and yelled, “Yan Zhimo! What gives you the right to keep me here? Who do you think you are?!”

The explosive shout echoed through the phone, and in his office, Yan Zhimo’s brow furrowed momentarily before relaxing into a sly grin. He set his papers aside and chuckled wickedly.

“My dear wife, have you forgotten I’m your lawful husband? Of course, you should stay in my house and take care of me.”

“In your dreams!”

“I’ve done what I needed to do. Why won’t you agree to the divorce?”

“I’m not refusing; it’s just that you haven’t met my conditions, so how can I agree?”

“You’re despicable! You jerk! Go to hell!”

Yann Qiai abruptly hung up, unwilling to hear another word from Yan Zhimo. She handed the phone back to Mr. Lee, stormed downstairs, and headed into the study, fuming.

"Hah, Yan Zhimo, if you won't give me the marriage certificate, I'll find it myself! I remember you took it from the study yesterday, so it must still be there. Just wait until I find it—then you'll be in trouble. Let's see how you plan to threaten me then!"

As soon as Yann Qiai entered the study, she went straight to the desk and started rummaging through the drawers. Sure enough, in one of them, the marriage certificate lay quietly.

Grabbing the small booklet, Yann Qiai was so excited she nearly cried. The thought of divorcing Yan Zhimo had been on her mind day and night, and now it seemed like it was finally within reach. At last, she could sever ties with him!

"Ha ha ha! The universe must be looking out for someone as unfortunate as me. It won't let the downtrodden suffer forever!"

Clutching the certificate tightly, she was determined not to let anyone take it from her. Now, she just needed to figure out how to leave this place. Did Yan Zhimo really think he could keep her locked up here? She had lived in this house long enough to know its layout better than he did!

With that thought, Yann Qiai knew exactly how to escape this place she despised.
