C15 Escape!
Yann Qiai cautiously stepped out of the villa, taking a walk around the property and counting the security guards stationed nearby. There were four in total, all positioned at different spots near the front entrance, which meant the back of the villa was still quite secure.
"Hahaha, Yan Zhimo is so naive. Does he really think the only way out is through the front door?" Yann thought to herself. "Let's see how you plan to keep me here now!"
Wasting no time, Yann dashed back inside the house and headed to the first floor, where she had previously stumbled upon a storage room. Conveniently, this room had a door leading to the back of the villa.
"It's like fate is on my side!" Yann exclaimed as she pushed open the storage room door. Despite the clutter inside, she immediately spotted a small iron door at the far end. Excitement lit up her face as she approached it, eager to make her escape.
But to her dismay—the door was locked!
"What’s going on?" Yann frantically tugged at the handle, trying to force it open, but it was no use.
"Ma'am, the door is locked. You won't be able to open it," came the familiar voice of Mr. Lee from behind her. Yann turned to see him standing at the entrance of the storage room.
"Mr. Lee, you must have the key, right? Please, help me. I really want to leave this place," Yann pleaded, her voice filled with urgency as she approached him, looking both pitiful and sincere, hoping he would assist her.
"Ma'am, this... it's difficult for me too. The young master instructed me to keep an eye on you. If you leave, I..."
"Mr. Lee, you know how things were for me before. I'm not happy here, and you know it. Do you really want to see me live in misery like before?"
With no other option, Yann resorted to a desperate tactic. Her brow furrowed, and tears seemed to glisten in her eyes as she tried to muster up genuine emotion.
"Ma'am, I..." Mr. Lee looked at Yann Qiai with a pained expression, guilt washing over him.
Yes, the lady had always been neglected by the young master here. Everyone thought she had perished in the fire, but who would have guessed she survived and stood before him five years later? It seemed like fate was giving her a new chance at life. Shouldn't he help her have a better life?
Sensing Mr. Lee's dilemma and hesitation, Yann Qiai put on her best act, tears streaming down her face. Her eyes were already glistening with moisture as she gently wiped them away.
"Mr. Lee, you know Yan Zhimo. He will never treat me well. If you can't help me, I'll just have to spend the rest of my days alone in this place that brings me so much sorrow."
Mr. Lee couldn't bear to see Yann Qiai go through the same ordeal again. Such a beautiful young woman, and the young master truly hadn't appreciated her. She shouldn't waste her youth here any longer.
"Alright, ma'am, I'll let you out."
Hearing this, Yann Qiai couldn't help but feel a surge of joy, though she kept her composure to continue the act.
"Mr. Lee, you're so kind, but what if the young master asks about you?"
"I'll just say I have no idea how you escaped. When he returns and finds you're gone, I'll say I thought you were in your room the whole time. Even if he blames me, there's nothing I can do since security didn't notice your escape." With that, Mr. Lee inserted the key into the lock.
"Mr. Lee, you're a lifesaver. If I ever get the chance, I'll repay you," Yann Qiai said, eager to embrace Mr. Lee.
"Alright, ma'am, you should leave quickly before anyone notices," Mr. Lee urged, opening the door and gesturing for Yann Qiai to hurry out.
"Take care of yourself!"
"Ma'am, be careful out there."
"Alright, goodbye, Mr. Lee."
After saying goodbye to Mr. Lee, Yann Qiai finally escaped from the place she despised. The best part was that she left with the marriage certificate and household registration she wanted most. Suddenly, the air outside felt refreshingly inviting. She took a deep breath, stretched, and quickly walked away.
"Ring—" As she walked down the street, Yann Qiai's phone suddenly rang. It was Linyue.
"Hello—"
"Are you planning to abandon your company?" Linyue's voice was cold, barely concealing his anger.
Yann Qiai frowned in confusion, suddenly remembering that today was the company's transfer ceremony. "Oh no! I forgot. Wait for me, I'm on my way."
The call had already ended. Yann Qiai looked at her phone and saw twelve missed calls from Linyue, starting from late last night. That meant she hadn't answered any of his calls since leaving his place. No wonder he sounded so cold; he must be upset with her.
Thinking about it, Yann Qiai ran a frustrated hand through her hair. It was all because of that annoying Zhimo. If he hadn't tricked her yesterday, she wouldn't have ended up in that situation, and she wouldn't have missed Linyue's calls. Now he's angry, and she wasn't sure if he'd still help her.
Suddenly, Yann Qiai remembered she was no longer the innocent woman she once was, and her nose tingled with emotion. But she shook her head, deciding to think of it as just a bad encounter. Taking a deep breath, she hailed a cab and got in.
