C16 Inheritance of the Inheritance!
The taxi pulled up in front of a building, and Yann Qiai stepped out, wearing a stunning white dress that accentuated her elegance. Compared to her commanding presence yesterday, today she seemed both graceful and understated, yet undeniably captivating, as if surrounded by a fresh, enchanting aura.
The words "Yann's Group" were prominently displayed on the building, catching Qiai's eye. She stared at them for a moment, feeling a surge of determination. "Dad, I will get the company back!" she vowed before striding into the building and heading straight to the 23rd floor—the CEO's office.
As the elevator doors opened, Qiai walked directly into the executive conference room, where the shareholders were already seated. Among them was the so-called former chairman's wife, her stepmother—Yun Yan.
"Well, look who finally decided to grace us with her presence," Yun Yan sneered, casting a disdainful glance at Qiai. Despite the cosmetic enhancements, her face couldn't hide the marks of time.
"Oh, dear stepmother, are you in such a hurry to hand the company back to me?"
"In your dreams! What makes you think the company is yours?" Yun Yan shouted, slamming the table and pointing at Qiai. "You've been missing for five years, a disgrace to the family, and now you claim the company is yours? You're delusional."
Qiai casually walked over to Yun Yan, sitting on the conference table in front of her, unfazed, playing with her fingers. "Aunt Yun, are you losing your memory or just hitting menopause? No matter how long I've been gone, I'm still the Yann family's eldest daughter. Even if I'm a disgrace, it's better than you running the company into the ground."
"You—shut up! I sold the company because I couldn't manage it as a woman. I planned to donate the proceeds to charity, so your father could rest in peace," Yun Yan stammered, glancing nervously at the other shareholders, desperately trying to cover her tracks.
"Sell it? Ha, as far as I know, you've already run the company into the ground. This so-called sale is just a cover for Yan Zhimo to take over!" Yann Qiai stared directly at Yun Yan, her eyes piercing through her.
"What? A takeover!"
"What's going on?"
"How could this happen?"
All the shareholders exchanged bewildered glances, utterly shocked by the sudden news.
"You're talking nonsense!"
"Yann Qiai, you wretched woman, get out of here!"
Yun Yan grabbed Yann Qiai, nearly losing her composure, wanting to tear apart the woman who had disrupted her plans.
Yann Qiai pushed Yun Yan away, causing her to stumble back into her seat. Yann Qiai turned to the company's lawyer and said, "Lawyer Zhang, please read the document you showed me the other day to everyone."
Lawyer Zhang nodded, picked up a document from the table, placed it on the projector, and read aloud, "Everyone, please take a look. This is the will entrusted to me by Mr. Yann before he passed. In it, Mr. Yann wrote, 'Upon my death, I willingly transfer my 40% share of the company to my eldest daughter, Yann Qiai, regardless of her whereabouts, she shall have the final holding rights.' This means all of Mr. Yann's shares will now be transferred to Miss Yann Qiai, making her the largest shareholder of the company."
"What? You're lying! I've never seen this will. You and Yann Qiai are conspiring to deceive me!" Yun Yan couldn't accept this reality. She had done everything to marry into the Yann family; how could Yann Tan leave her with nothing?
"Mrs. Yann, because the eldest daughter was not in the country before, I did not make this will public. However, it has been legally notarized and is completely legitimate," Lawyer Zhang returned to his seat, and the other shareholders nodded in agreement.
"Aunt Yun, whether you believe it or not, you have to accept this reality now. The legal documents are right in front of you," Yann Qiai said, looking at Yun Yan, who sat in the chair, dazed and defeated. It was a moment of satisfaction for her. "Even though Dad didn't leave you any inheritance, out of respect for your past as his wife, I'll let you keep the villa you live in. Enjoy your retirement there."
Back when Dad was alive, Yun Yan was always so kind and caring towards her. Yann Qiai had long realized it wasn't genuine. Now, with Dad gone, Yun Yan's attitude had completely changed. It was true what they said about a woman's scorn. If it weren't for family ties, she would have let Yun Yan end up on the streets.
"You! Don't go too far!" Yun Yan shouted, pointing a trembling finger at Yann Qiai.
Yann Qiai had no intention of wasting another second with Yun Yan. "Lawyer Zhang, let's proceed with the company handover. I want what's rightfully mine now."
"Of course, Miss Yann." Lawyer Zhang picked up a document and placed it in front of Yann Qiai, handing her a pen. "This is the will. Once you sign here, Mr. Yann's shares will be yours."
"No! You can't!" Yun Yan rushed forward, trying to snatch the document away.
"Security, remove this unauthorized person!" Yann Qiai shouted towards the door. Within moments, security guards had Yun Yan lifted and were escorting her out.
