C17 Go and Get a Divorce!

"Hold on!" Yun Yan stopped struggling, gripping the doorknob, and suddenly let out a cold laugh. "Ha, Yann Qiai, the company is on the brink of bankruptcy. Even if you take over now, what makes you think you can save it? Ha ha ha."

Yun Yan's words hit Yann Qiai like a bucket of cold water. She felt a pang of anxiety. Originally, she had an agreement with Linyue to pretend to be his girlfriend, and in return, he would lend her some money to keep the company afloat. But he had just been upset with her. Would he still lend her the money?

Oh well, she thought, maybe I should call him later and feel things out.

Regaining her composure, Yann Qiai looked at Yun Yan with pride. "Hmph, who says I don't have money? If I dared to come back and reclaim the company, I have the means to revive it. Security! Escort her out."

"Yann Qiai, just you wait. I won't let you off the hook," Yun Yan said before disappearing through the door.

Once the meeting room was quiet again, Yann Qiai stood up calmly, exuding an air of control. She addressed the gathered shareholders politely, "Ladies and gentlemen, I know you've supported the Yann family for many years, and I'm sorry for today's unpleasant events. The company is indeed facing a crisis, but I will find a way to secure the funds and save it. Please bear with me while I make a call."

Yann Qiai stepped out of the meeting room and dialed Linyue's number. After a few rings, he answered.

"What is it?" Linyue's flat tone gave Yann Qiai no clue about his current mood.

"Linyue, um, I wanted to ask if our previous agreement still stands?" Yann Qiai asked cautiously, fearing a negative response.

However, there was silence on the other end, leaving Yann Qiai puzzled.

"Linyue—"

"Have you divorced him?"

Yann Qiai was caught off guard when Qii Linyue asked her that question. She was momentarily at a loss for how to respond.

"Not yet—let me explain, I and he..."

"If you don't divorce him, I won't help you."

Yann was interrupted before she could finish. What? No help until she divorced? What would happen to the company?

"Wait, I'll divorce him! I have his ID and marriage certificate with me, and I can file for divorce right away."

There was silence on the other end of the line.

"If you don't believe me, I'll send you a picture right now. Hold on." Yann hung up, opened her phone's camera, snapped a photo of Yan Zhimo's ID and marriage certificate, and sent it to Qii Linyue.

It wasn't long before Qii called back, and Yann quickly answered.

"Alright, I can help you."

Hearing this, Yann was so excited she nearly jumped up. "That's fantastic! Thank you, Linyue."

"No need to thank me. This was our agreement. Just don't forget what you promised me. I've already transferred the money to your company's account."

Yann ended the call happily and returned to the meeting room, eager to inform the shareholders that the company account now had some working capital. The shareholders relaxed and looked at her with approval.

Finally, in front of all the shareholders, Yann signed her name on the inheritance document. As she looked at her signature, tears welled up in her eyes.

Dad, I finally lived up to your expectations. I've reclaimed our company.

After everything was settled, Yann walked out of the company building, gazing proudly at the sign that read "Yann's Group." She couldn't help but smile brightly.

After a moment, Yann collected herself, clutched the ID and marriage certificate tightly, hailed a cab, and got in.

"Driver, take me to the courthouse."

As soon as she thought about finally divorcing that jerk, Yan Zhimo, Yann Qiai couldn't help but chuckle to herself in the backseat, catching the cab driver's attention in the rearview mirror.

"Miss, you seem really happy. Are you heading to the courthouse to get married?"

Yann Qiai snapped out of her daze, sat up straight, and tried to contain her excitement, offering the driver a smile.

"No, I'm actually going to get a divorce."

Finally arriving at her long-awaited destination, she paid the fare and hurried out of the cab, rushing toward the courthouse, eager not to waste a single moment.

The driver watched her run toward her "divorce" with a puzzled expression, thinking to himself, "Since when did getting a divorce make people this happy?"

Yann Qiai approached the counter, her mood buoyant, and said to the clerk, "Hi, I'm here to file for a divorce."

The clerk couldn't help but frown. "A divorce? Where's your spouse?"

"My spouse? Oh, he's not feeling well, so I came by myself," Yann Qiai quickly improvised, coming up with a hasty excuse.

"How can you file for a divorce without your spouse? How do we know he agrees to it?"

Panic set in as Yann Qiai handed over the household registration and marriage certificate, eager to convince the clerk. "No, look, I have his registration and our marriage certificate. He gave them to me himself. This proves he's willing."

"These documents aren't enough. Your spouse needs to sign in person. Come back with him next time," the clerk said, waving her away.

What?! After all this, he still needs to agree in person? That liar! He said all I needed were the marriage certificate and registration. What a big liar! Jerk!
